Campgrounds near Washingtonville, Ohio
Washingtonville sits in Columbiana County in northeast Ohio, within short driving distance of both private RV parks and one of the state's more scenic public campgrounds. The village is close to Salem and Lisbon, which puts travelers within roughly 15 to 30 minutes of most nearby camping options and within an hour of Youngstown and the West Virginia and Pennsylvania borders.
Private options in the area include Chaparral Family Campground, Salem/Lisbon KOA Holiday, Western Reserve Campground, and Timashamie Family Campground. These parks generally cater to RV travelers with full or partial hookups, family-oriented amenities, and seasonal activities. For a more rustic experience, the Family Campground at Beaver Creek State Park offers wooded sites in northeast Ohio's rugged landscape, set along Little Beaver Creek.
The surrounding landscape is Appalachian foothill country: sandstone hills, hardwood forest, and stream-cut gorges. Little Beaver Creek is designated a state and national wild and scenic river, and much of the recreation in the area centers on its valley.
Things to do near Washingtonville
Beaver Creek State Park is the anchor attraction. The park contains approximately sixteen miles of hiking trails leading to historic canal locks, waterfalls, and a steep-walled gorge, plus twenty-three miles of bridle trails through the valley. Little Beaver Creek itself is popular for canoe and rubber-raft trips, with challenging rapids and scenery through the gorge.
History is a significant draw. Remnants of the 19th-century Sandy and Beaver Canal, including Lock 36 at the Pioneer Village, Vondergreen's Lock, Grey's Lock, and Gretchen's Lock, are accessible on foot or via hiking trails. Gaston's Mill and the pioneer village give families a hands-on look at early Ohio settlement.
Off-park activities include mountain biking, stream fishing for smallmouth and rock bass, birding, and seasonal hunting in designated areas with a valid Ohio hunting license.

The prime RV season in this part of Ohio runs from late April through mid-October. Late spring brings wildflowers along Little Beaver Creek and stream flow high enough for canoeing. Summer is the busiest booking window, with warm days, active insect life, and full programming at the Wildlife Education Center, which is open Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 5pm, from the first weekend of May through the first weekend of October.
Fall delivers reliable hardwood color through October and cooler nights that suit campfires. Hunting seasons open in designated areas of Beaver Creek State Park, so RV travelers should check current regulations before hiking off marked trails.
Winter camping is limited. Private parks in the area typically close or reduce services, while park visitors can enjoy sledding and cross-country skiing when conditions permit. Snow, freezing rain, and short daylight make winter trips a niche option.

We had the most amazing trip and lived in luxury renting from Starla! We had EVERYTHING we needed from clean beds, blankets, kitchen supplies, utensils, towels, and even awesome movie sections for our kids to watch at night. We were celebrating our son’s bday and she even put a little treat in the fridge for him. It was so sweet and he loved it. I am looking forward to renting again in the future! Who would’ve thought camping could ever be so easy and relaxing?!?! I cannot thank you enough Starla for the amazing trip we had!! 💕

How to book near Washingtonville
Sites at the Family Campground in Beaver Creek State Park are reserved through the Ohio State Parks system at reserveohio.com or by calling 1-866-OHIOPARKS. Ohio State Parks open reservations six months in advance, so target the release date for summer weekends. The family campground offers basic electric sites, non-electric sites, and two rustic Sherman Cabins, one of which is ADA accessible. Ohio does not have an annual pass and does not charge entrance fees to state parks, so the reservation covers the site only.
Private parks near Washingtonville, including Chaparral Family Campground, Salem/Lisbon KOA Holiday, Western Reserve Campground, and Timashamie Family Campground, take bookings directly through their own websites or phone lines. Summer weekends and holiday weekends fill early, so reserve ahead and confirm rig-length limits when traveling in a larger Class A or fifth wheel.
What to expect near Washingtonville
Expect a mix of hookup levels. Private parks in the area generally provide electric, water, and sewer, along with playgrounds, pools, and other family amenities. The state park campground is more basic: six sites provide electric hookups, but the campground operates on well water with limited supply, and RVs cannot fill onboard tanks, so campers should arrive with full fresh water. Non-electric sites have tables, fire rings, pit latrines and a dump station.
Some sites are small and close together, with narrow uneven pads that can make backing a longer trailer tricky, so check site dimensions before booking. Pets are permitted on designated sites, and standard state-park quiet hours and stay limits apply.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Washingtonville?
Yes, your pup is invited! Plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental Washingtonville options, and you can find them in seconds by toggling the 'Pet-Friendly' filter on RVezy. Bring proof of vaccinations, a long leash, and plenty of water since summer humidity here can hit 80%+. Pro tip: Guilford Lake fills up fast on summer weekends, so reserve through the Ohio State Parks system as soon as the 6-month window opens.
reserveohio.com/OhioCampWeb/When is the best time to rent an RV in Washingtonville, OH?
Late spring through mid-fall is prime time for a Washingtonville RV trip. May through early October brings daytime highs of 70 to 85°F, leafy state parks, and dry-ish evenings perfect for campfires. June and July are peak (and busiest), late September into mid-October is the local insider favorite, hardwood foliage along the Little Beaver Creek valley turns brilliant orange and red, campgrounds are quieter, and rates often dip. Winters here can drop into the 20s°F with snow, but a few hosts offer winterized motorhome rental Washingtonville options for hardy adventurers. Pro tip: target the first two weeks of October for the absolute best leaf-peeping at Beaver Creek State Park.
weather.gov/pbz/I've never driven an RV. Is renting in Washingtonville beginner friendly?
You've got this, and you're not alone. Most renters in Washingtonville are first-timers, and every RVezy Host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, hookups, the propane, the slide-outs, and any quirks of their specific rig. Roads around Washingtonville are mostly rural two-lanes and easy state highways like OH-14 and OH-46, which are ideal for getting comfortable behind the wheel. Worried about driving altogether? Choose a Host who offers delivery so the RV is set up and ready when you arrive. Pro tip: pick a Class C motorhome or smaller travel trailer for your first time renting an RV, they drive much more like a large van than a bus, and they're easy to back into sites at Guilford Lake.
transportation.ohio.gov/programs/highway-safetyWhat happens if I have a breakdown or issue on my RV trip?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking in Washingtonville includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. If something pops up at 2 a.m. at Beaver Creek State Park or on I-76 heading toward Akron, one phone call gets help dispatched. You also have a direct line to your host through the RVezy app for questions about the RV itself (think 'how do I reset the water pump?'), plus RVezy customer support for booking issues. Pro tip: snap a photo of the RV's VIN, license plate, and tire info during your walkthrough so you have everything ready if you ever need to call for service on the road.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Washingtonville RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, an RV road trip from Washingtonville is one of the best ways to see the region, and crossing state lines is completely normal. Pennsylvania is just 20 miles east, West Virginia about 50 miles south, and many hosts welcome trips to Pittsburgh, Cuyahoga Valley, Niagara Falls, or into Canada (bring your passport and confirm cross-border coverage with the host before you book). Travel into Mexico is not covered under RVezy's insurance. Always mention your planned route in the booking message so your host can confirm and your protection plan stays valid. Pro tip: popular multi-state loops from Washingtonville include Pittsburgh and the Laurel Highlands (3 days) and Cleveland with the Lake Erie shoreline (4 days).
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Easy to budget for, here's the real picture. Class B campervans get around 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 MPG, Class A coaches roughly 7 to 10 MPG, and a truck towing a travel trailer lands around 10 to 13 MPG. Gas prices in the Washingtonville/Columbiana County area typically run a few cents below the national average, and most local stations on US-62 and OH-14 can accommodate larger rigs. For a typical 300-mile weekend loop in a Class C, plan on roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Salem or Lisbon before heading to Beaver Creek State Park, prices in the small towns near the park can be higher.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Washingtonville?
Plan ahead and you're golden. Ohio State Parks (including Guilford Lake and Beaver Creek) open reservations 6 months in advance through the official ReserveOhio system, and summer weekends, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day book out fastest. For private campgrounds like Salem/Lisbon KOA or Chaparral Family Campground, 2 to 3 months ahead is usually plenty for summer, and a few weeks is fine for shoulder season. If you're flexible, midweek sites in May, September, and October are often available last-minute. Pro tip: set up a free cancellation alert on ReserveOhio if your first-choice site is full, spots open up regularly as plans shift, and the best campgrounds near Washingtonville are worth the wait.
reserveohio.com/OhioCampWeb/What are the driving conditions like around Washingtonville?
Driving here is genuinely RV-friendly. Washingtonville sits in rural Columbiana County with rolling farmland, gentle hills, and well-maintained two-lane state routes like OH-14, OH-46, and US-62. There's no big-city traffic to wrestle, and most campgrounds are reachable on roads wide enough for any motorhome rental Washingtonville guests pick. Watch for the occasional low-clearance railroad underpass in nearby small towns (most are clearly signed) and slow down on twisty descents near Beaver Creek State Park. Winter can bring snow and ice from December through February, so check the Ohio Department of Transportation's OHGO road conditions tool before heading out. Pro tip: avoid Friday afternoon traffic on OH-11 heading toward Youngstown if you're driving a larger Class A.
ohgo.com/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Washingtonville?
You'll find a great mix, from full-service parks to peaceful state campgrounds. Salem/Lisbon KOA and Chaparral Family Campground offer full hookups (water, electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, and dump stations. Guilford Lake State Park has 40 electric sites with a dump station, flush toilets, hot showers, and a swim beach. Beaver Creek State Park has electric and non-electric sites with vault toilets and a dump station, plus equestrian camping on Sprucevale Road. For water fills and dump stations on the road, the Salem/Lisbon KOA allows non-guest dumping for a small fee. Pro tip: many Washingtonville hosts pre-fill freshwater and provide a sewer hose kit, so confirm what's included in your listing so you arrive ready to relax.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/guilford-lake-state-parkWhat's inside a typical RV rental in Washingtonville?
You'll feel right at home. Most RVs listed on RVezy in the Washingtonville area come fully equipped with comfortable beds (queen or king in the main bedroom, plus convertible dinettes and bunks in family rigs), a kitchen with fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control with both AC and furnace, a TV, and seatbelts for every passenger. Many also include a generator, solar setup, outdoor speakers, or a backup camera. Wi-Fi varies by Host, some include a hotspot, others rely on cell signal (Verizon and T-Mobile are strongest in Columbiana County). Pro tip: check the listing's amenities checklist for specifics like linens, cookware, and a coffee maker so you only pack what you actually need.
fcc.gov/consumers/guides/wireless-internet-access-rural-areasWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts make it easy to customize your trip. Popular add-ons for an RV rental in Washingtonville include camping chairs and tables, bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, propane fire pits, bike racks, generators, and kayaks, with most extras priced between $10 and $75 depending on the item. Delivery and setup is the most-loved add-on, with fees that typically scale with distance from the host's location. For pickup, plan about an hour for the orientation walkthrough so your host can show you every system. Drop-off is usually by late morning to give the host time to prep for the next guest, and mileage and generator policies are listed clearly on each page. Pro tip: bundle delivery, linens, and camp chairs so you can arrive with just clothes and groceries.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106394-How-to-pay-for-your-bookingHow does payment and the security deposit work for an RV rental in Washingtonville?
Payment is secure and straightforward. When you book your RV rental in Washingtonville on RVezy, payment is handled directly through the platform with a major credit or debit card, no cash, checks, or off-platform transfers. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV's value), and it is released after your trip once the host confirms the rig was returned in good shape, on time, with the agreed fuel and tank levels. To avoid issues, take date-stamped photos of the RV inside and out at pickup and drop-off, follow the mileage and generator policies on your listing, and communicate with your host through the RVezy app. Pro tip: a clean return almost always means a fast, full deposit refund.
