Camping near Waynesville, Ohio
Waynesville sits in Warren County in southwest Ohio, roughly between Dayton and Cincinnati, and serves as a practical base for exploring the Little Miami River corridor and Caesar Creek Lake. RV travelers have a compact cluster of options within a short drive of town, ranging from a large state park campground to smaller private and riverside operations.
Caesar Creek State Park is a public recreation area located about five miles east of Waynesville in Warren, Clinton, and Greene counties, and its main campground features 287 sites with electric or full-hookup service, showers, flush toilets, dump stations, a camper's beach, boat ramp, playground, and basketball court. Nearby private grounds include Frontier Campground, Olive Branch Campground, Morgan's Riverside Campground & Cabins along the Little Miami River, and the Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA Holiday off I-71.
Most sites in the area accommodate standard travel trailers and Class C motorhomes, with full-hookup options concentrated at the KOA and on the full-hookup loop at Caesar Creek. River-adjacent grounds skew more primitive and are geared toward paddlers and families running short floats on the Little Miami.
Things to do around Waynesville
Water recreation drives most itineraries. Caesar Creek Lake, a 2,830-acre Corps of Engineers impoundment, supports boating, swimming at the camper's beach, and fishing, with muskellunge and crappie among the target species. Paddlers head to the Little Miami River, a designated State and National Scenic River, for canoe and kayak floats ranging from short 3-mile runs to full-day 18-mile trips depending on the livery and put-in.
Land-based options include the Little Miami Scenic Trail for biking, more than 20 miles of hiking trails at Caesar Creek State Park, and the Caesar Creek Gorge State Nature Preserve. Fossil collecting is permitted in a designated zone within the Caesar Creek emergency spillway. Fort Ancient Earthworks is a short drive away, and families staying near I-71 often day-trip to Kings Island amusement park in nearby Mason.

The prime RV season in this part of Ohio runs from late April through October, when weather is warm, rivers are runnable, and full amenities are available. Summer weekends fill quickly, especially around holidays, at Kings Island events, and during the Ohio Renaissance Festival held near Caesar Creek. The Caesar Creek campground can be particularly busy during that festival.
Shoulder seasons offer cooler temperatures and lower demand but reduced services. The campgrounds at Caesar Creek are open all year, but sites and facilities are reduced from November 1 to April 1, when the campground is winterized and water is not available. The Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA Holiday also scales back in the off-season, with reduced availability from November into March and a seasonal pool that generally runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
Riverside operations are seasonal. Morgan's Riverside Campground & Cabins typically operates from mid-April through October. River conditions can also affect access, since high water after storms occasionally floods sites near the Little Miami.

Highly recommend 15/10 rating here. Clean and ready to go upon the agreed time and extremely flexible for my rental return considering I hit a traffic jam for 4 hours. Will be renting again from him alone when my personal goes down.

How to book
Reservation systems vary by property. Caesar Creek State Park uses the ReserveOhio platform: reservations are required and may be made up to six months in advance online at reserveohio.com or by calling 866-644-6727. Popular summer weekends and holidays book out well ahead, so planning around the six-month window is worthwhile for the electric and full-hookup loops.
Private campgrounds handle bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. Morgan's Riverside Campground & Cabins takes reservations online or by phone, with a two-night minimum and a three-night minimum on holiday weekends; tent-site cancellations must be made at least seven days out, and cabin cancellations at least fourteen days out. For Frontier Campground, Olive Branch Campground, and the Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA Holiday, book direct and confirm rig-length limits and hookup availability before arrival.
What to expect on site
Site style varies widely. Caesar Creek's main loops offer paved pads with 20/30/50-amp electric or full-hookup service; check-in is 3:00 p.m. and check-out is 1:00 p.m., and campsites are limited to one camping unit and two vehicles, with all parked vehicles kept clear of the roadway. Shade is inconsistent, with some loops noticeably open.
The KOA leans full-service, with pull-throughs, a seasonal pool, laundry, and camping cabins. Morgan's Riverside is primitive by design, with fire rings, picnic tables, porta-potties, and a central shower house with four stalls and six flush toilets. Cell coverage can be spotty in the river valley. Expect biting insects near the water in summer, hot pads for pets on sunny loops, and occasional road noise depending on proximity to I-71 or SR 73.
