Campgrounds and RV parks near McAlester, OK

McAlester sits in southeastern Oklahoma, roughly halfway between Tulsa and the Texas border on US-69. The city works well as an RV base for two very different landscapes: the sprawling shoreline of Lake Eufaula to the north and the wooded Sans Bois Mountains to the east. Arrowhead State Park encompasses 2,200 acres in southeastern Oklahoma on the shores of Lake Eufaula, the largest man-made lake in the state, and the park lies 18 miles north of McAlester on Highway 69, then 4 miles east on State Park Road. In-town options include Valley Inn RV Park and Rock Creek Road RV Park, both convenient to US-69 and to McAlester's grocery stores, laundries, and fuel. BlackRock Ridge RV Park and Campground and Crowder Point Family Campground sit slightly outside the city and give travelers quieter surroundings with easy highway access. For a lake-front stay, Lakeview Circle at Arrowhead State Park puts renters directly on Lake Eufaula with hookups, comfort stations, and boat access. Robbers Cave State Park sits in southeast Oklahoma in the scenic and hilly woodlands of the Sans Bois Mountains, once a former hideout for outlaws Belle Starr and Jesse James, about a 45-minute drive east.

Oklahoma State Parks use a single reservation system. Reservations are available through the Oklahoma State Parks ReserveAmerica system up to 11 months in advance, and the same booking window applies to Robbers Cave and other state park sites in the area. Reservations must be cancelled 5 days in advance of the scheduled arrival date in order to receive a full refund, and any reservations cancelled inside the 5-day cancellation window will forfeit the first night's fees. Private parks in and around town, including Valley Inn RV Park, BlackRock Ridge RV Park and Campground, Rock Creek Road RV Park, and Crowder Point Family Campground, each handle their own bookings by phone or through their websites, so contact the operator directly for availability and site details.
