Campgrounds and RV parks near Falls City, OR

The town's main draw is the waterfall on the Little Luckiamute River, accessible from the south side of town near Parry Road. From there, day trips fan out into the Coast Range toward the Black Rock Mountain Bike Area, which is popular with riders willing to drive gravel forest roads. The Valley of the Giants old-growth grove is another well-known destination west of town, though access has been limited since the road was washed out in late 2023, so check current BLM conditions before planning that trip. Heading east, the Willamette Valley opens up around Salem, Dallas, and Monmouth. Wineries in the Eola-Amity Hills are within a half-hour drive, and Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge is close by for birdwatching. Silver Falls State Park, the largest state park in Oregon at more than 9,000 acres, sits near Silverton, about 20 miles east-southeast of Salem. Its 7.2-mile Trail of Ten Falls passes ten waterfalls and goes behind four of them, and the park is open year-round.

The Willamette Valley has a wet, cool winter and a dry, warm summer. Summers in Salem are short, warm, dry, and mostly clear, while winters are cold, wet, and mostly cloudy. Falls City itself, tucked against the Coast Range, picks up even more rain than Salem in the wetter months, so muddy ground and high creek levels are common from late fall through spring. Spring is the best time to see the local waterfalls and the falls at Silver Falls running at full volume, since flow depends on the rain and snowmelt feeding the creeks. Trails can be muddy and slick into May, so plan footwear accordingly. Summer is peak RV season across the valley. The falls slow to a trickle by mid-summer, but the weather is at its nicest, with visitation highest between June and September thanks to school breaks and family vacations. Fall brings color, lighter crowds, and the return of steady rain by November.

Falls City is a small, quiet town with limited services. Plan to fuel up, dump tanks, and stock groceries in Dallas, Monmouth, or Salem before heading west. Cell coverage gets patchy quickly once the road climbs into the Coast Range. Most RV parks listed for this area sit on the valley floor and offer full hookups, paved or gravel pads, and easy big-rig access from Highway 22 or I-5. Sites tend to be closer together than at state parks, but laundry, showers, and Wi-Fi are usually included. If the plan includes a side trip to Silver Falls, note that the park is busy and parking can be tight at the South Falls Day-use Area. Expect heavy hiker traffic and little to no cell service inside the canyon. Arrive early on summer weekends, and bring layers and rain gear in spring and fall.
