Campgrounds near Garibaldi, Oregon
Garibaldi sits on the north shore of Tillamook Bay along U.S. Highway 101, roughly 75 miles west of Portland. It is a working fishing port on Tillamook Bay, with commercial crab and charter boats docking down the street from town. The bay, the north jetty, and the lower Nehalem estuary just to the north give RV travelers easy water access for fishing, crabbing, and clamming without long drives between stops.
Most RV options sit within a few minutes of the harbor. Port of Garibaldi RV Park is steps from the harbor in the heart of the working waterfront, with full hookup back-in sites, free WiFi, and cable. Harborview Inn and RV Park sits at the end of the harbor within walking distance of restaurants and fish markets. Tillamook Bay City RV Park and Tillamook RV Park sit a short drive south toward Tillamook proper, and Jetty Fishery Marina and RV Park is north of town on Nehalem Bay.
The city itself is small, with a grocery store, fish markets, charter offices, and the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad depot all clustered near the port.
Things to do in Garibaldi
A public pier overlooks the U.S. Coast Guard facility on Tillamook Bay, and charter companies for deep-sea fishing trips are easy to find at the port. Crabbing and bottom fishing on Tillamook Bay are the main draws, with clam digging on the bay flats and surf fishing off the north jetty rounding out the on-water options.
The Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad operates primarily between Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach, with additional special trips to Wheeler, on tracks that run along the edge of Tillamook Bay and through forest along the Nehalem River. The signature Oregon Coastal Excursion offers a relaxed ride behind a historic steam or vintage diesel locomotive, with 30 minutes each direction and a 30 minute layover.
Families often pair Garibaldi with a stop at the Tillamook Creamery, a short drive south, plus beach time at Barview Jetty, Rockaway Beach, or Cape Meares.

December - February
46° / 39°F 320 mmWettest season; steady rain and bar advisories common
Western Oregon has a strong winter rainfall climate, with the bulk of annual precipitation falling between November and March. Coast Range totals are heavy, so winter trips here mean planning around steady rain, wind, and occasional storm advisories on the Tillamook Bay bar.
Summer is the busy season. Tillamook experiences warm and dry summers from June to August, with average high temperatures rising from 62.2°F in June to 68.4°F in August, while nightly lows hover between 49.6°F and 53.8°F, and rainfall reaches its lowest point in July. July and August bring the highest demand at private RV parks and county campgrounds, so reservations should be made well ahead.
Shoulder seasons trade some sun for elbow room. Spring spans March through May with moderate temperatures and a gradual reduction in rainfall, as average highs climb from the upper 40s in March to the upper 50s in May. Fall lines up with strong Chinook runs on the bay and quieter campgrounds. Winter steelhead and crabbing continue through the cool months for travelers who do not mind rain.
How to book campgrounds near Garibaldi
Private RV parks in and around Garibaldi take reservations directly. For Port of Garibaldi RV Park, reservations are made by contacting the port office at (503) 322-3292. Harborview Inn and RV Park, Tillamook Bay City RV Park, Tillamook RV Park, and Jetty Fishery Marina and RV Park each book through their own websites or by phone, and summer weekends typically need to be locked in well in advance.
For public sites in Tillamook County, the county runs its own system. The Tillamook County Parks Department operates six county campgrounds with over 600 campsites from Rockaway Beach to Pacific City, along with boat launches and day use areas. Reservations can be made online through the county system or by calling 503-322-3522, up to six months in advance. Oregon State Park sites elsewhere on the coast book separately through the Oregon State Parks reservation system.
What to expect on the ground
Garibaldi is a compact working port, not a resort town. Expect early-morning charter traffic, fish-cleaning stations near the docks, and the smell of saltwater and diesel along the harbor. Most RV parks here are flat, paved or gravel pads aimed at bay access rather than wooded seclusion, with the bay views as the main amenity.
In-town sites range from full-hookup RV pads with 30/50-amp service to tent sites and cabin options at the larger properties. Cell service is generally reliable in town and patchier on side roads up the Miami and Kilchis river valleys. Pets are commonly allowed; check each park's policy before arrival.
Pack layers, rain gear, and a tide table. Crabbing licenses, shellfish regulations, and bar conditions change with the season, so stop at the port office or a local tackle shop before heading out on the water.

Winter is wet and windy along the north Oregon Coast, but storm-watching from a cozy motorhome rental Garibaldi can be magical if you are up for it. If you are nervous about driving at all, choose delivery and let the host park it for you. Pro tip: for your first time renting an RV, pick a Class C motorhome or smaller travel trailer (under 25 feet) and practice in a large lot before heading out.

Fuel is one of the bigger variables, but it is easy to plan for. Expect roughly 7 to 10 mpg for a Class A, 10 to 14 mpg for a Class C, 12 to 16 mpg for a campervan, and 12 to 18 mpg towing a travel trailer.
