Campgrounds and RV parks near Lincoln City, OR

The main draw is the beach. D River State Recreation Site is reachable on foot from the Devils Lake area via a boardwalk crossing Highway 101, and the sandy shoreline runs for miles in both directions. Lincoln City is also known for kite flying along the open beach. Devils Lake itself is a 685-acre freshwater lake popular for kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, water skiing, and personal watercraft. The lake holds rainbow trout, yellow perch, catfish, black crappie, largemouth bass, and bluegill. Public boat launches are at Regatta Grounds Park, about a mile north of the state park campground, and at East Devil's Lake State Recreation Area to the south. Families often pair beach days with the Lincoln City outlet mall, the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport to the south, and short drives to headlands like Cape Foulweather and Otter Crest. Wildlife viewing covers bald eagles, osprey, and wintering migratory waterfowl on the lake's wetlands.

Summer is peak season. July through September brings the warmest, driest weather on the Oregon Coast, with comfortable highs in the mid to upper 60s Fahrenheit and minimal rainfall. Private RV parks fill quickly on weekends from late June through Labor Day, and the state park campground is often booked out well in advance. Spring and fall are shoulder seasons with cooler temperatures and increasing rain. Rainfall begins climbing again in October, and November through February is the wet season. December is the wettest month, averaging over 300 mm of rain. Storm watching is a recognized winter activity along this coast, and yurts and cabins are popular shelter when tent and open-air camping is uncomfortable. Winter also affects access. The campground at Devil's Lake State Recreation Area is closed seasonally from December 1 through May 1 due to winter flooding, because the park sits on a peat bog that drains poorly. Private RV parks in town typically remain open year-round.

Lincoln City stretches along Highway 101 for about seven miles, so campgrounds are never far from grocery stores, fuel, and restaurants. Cell service is generally reliable in town, and most private parks offer full hookups including water, sewer, and 30 or 50-amp power. Big-rig access is good at the in-town parks, though some wooded sites at the state park are tighter. The Oregon coast is cool and damp for much of the year, with frequent overcast skies and sea fog even in summer. Pack layers and rain gear regardless of season. Coastal winds pick up in winter and can shake awnings, so secure outdoor gear. Blue-green algae blooms can occur on Devils Lake, most commonly between April and September, which can limit swimming and pet access to the water. Check current Oregon Health Authority advisories before launching. Dogs are welcome at most parks on leash.
