Campgrounds near Neotsu, Oregon
Neotsu is a small unincorporated community on the north shore of Devils Lake, just inland from Lincoln City on the central Oregon coast. The area pairs freshwater recreation on the 685-acre lake with quick access to the Pacific beaches, and most campgrounds sit within a few miles of Highway 101.
Devil's Lake State Recreation Area consists of two parks on opposite sides of Devils Lake: a campground on the west shore minutes from downtown Lincoln City and a short walk to the beach, plus East Devil's Lake State Park, a day-use park with a boat launch around the southern end of the lake. RV travelers typically choose between the state campground and nearby private parks such as Lincoln City KOA Holiday, Devils Lake RV Park, Logan Road RV Park, Premier RV Resorts-Lincoln City, and Wapiti RV Park.
Private parks generally offer longer pull-throughs and full hookups for larger rigs, while the state campground emphasizes a wooded setting and lake access. The lake itself is 685 acres of freshwater unaffected by coastal winds, attractive to paddlers, anglers, and boaters, and supports rainbow trout, yellow perch, catfish, black crappie, largemouth bass, and bluegill.
Things to do around Neotsu
The lake is the obvious draw. Devils Lake supports sailing, waterskiing, jet skiing, windsurfing, canoeing, and kayaking, with moorage docks adjacent to the state campground and a boat launch and picnic area at the day-use area off East Devils Lake Road. Anglers target trout, bass, perch, and crappie from shore, dock, or boat.
The beach is roughly a ten-minute walk from the west-shore campground. A boardwalk through the wetland and a crossing of Highway 101 connect campers to D River State Recreation Site. Families also use Lincoln City for kite flying, tide pooling, and the outlet mall on rainy afternoons.
Wildlife watching is strong year-round. The lake's wetland is the primary wintering grounds for flocks of migratory geese and ducks, and several osprey and bald eagle nests sit in the vicinity.

Summer is the prime season. July through early September brings the driest weather, warmest water, and longest days, and is also when campgrounds fill earliest. Blue-green algae blooms may occur at Devils Lake, most commonly between April and September, though they can occur any time; standard fees and cancellation policies still apply if a bloom is present, so checking the Oregon Health Authority Recreation Advisory site before launching is recommended.
Shoulder seasons are quieter and still workable for RVs. Spring rainfall tapers through May, and fall holds reasonable weather into October before the wet season sets in. Private parks around Lincoln City generally stay open year-round, while some state-park sites have seasonal limits due to winter flooding.
Winter is wet and windy on the coast, with storm-watching a real draw. Storm watching is best December through February, when oceanfront vantage points provide prime viewing during stormy weather. Rigs should be prepared for sustained rain, gusty south winds, and saturated ground at lower-lying sites.
How to book a site
Devil's Lake State Recreation Area takes reservations through the Oregon State Parks system on ReserveAmerica. Sites can be booked up to six months in advance, with new inventory released on a rolling basis at 6:00 a.m. Pacific Time each morning, so popular summer weekends benefit from setting an alarm. Same-day reservations are also available when sites remain open.
Private parks near Neotsu, including Lincoln City KOA Holiday, Devils Lake RV Park, Logan Road RV Park, Premier RV Resorts-Lincoln City, and Wapiti RV Park, take direct bookings by phone or website. Holiday weekends, the Fourth of July, and the Lincoln City kite festivals book out the earliest, so reserving well ahead is wise for full-hookup pull-throughs.
What to expect on-site
Sites near Neotsu range from tight private-park layouts to wooded state-park loops. The state campground operates year-round with full hookups available for RVs up to 62 feet, though several reviewers note sites can flood during Oregon's rainy season. Mature trees provide separation from commercial development just outside the entrance, and the internal loop sees regular foot traffic from walkers and families on bikes.
The state campground itself does not have a boat ramp. The nearest public launches are Regatta Grounds about a mile north and East Devil's Lake State Recreation Area about three miles south.
Coastal weather drives the rest of the experience. Expect damp mornings, salt-laden air, and quick weather swings; quality rain gear, locally sourced firewood to limit pest spread, and layers help across all seasons.
