Campgrounds near Sublimity, Oregon
Sublimity sits in Oregon's Willamette Valley at the foot of the western Cascades, about ten miles from the main entrance to Silver Falls State Park. The town is a practical staging point for RV travelers heading to waterfall country, with grocery stores in nearby Stayton and Salem and quick highway access to Interstate 5 and Highway 22.
The area's anchor campground is Silver Falls State Park, located southeast of Silverton and northeast of Sublimity off Highway 214. The campground sits along South Fork Silver Creek and hosts 48 electrical sites with water, 43 tent sites, two group sites, and 14 cabins. Closer to Sublimity itself, Silver Spur RV Park and Phoenix RV Park offer full-hookup sites geared to travelers who want town amenities.
For river access, North Santiam State Recreation Area lies east along Highway 22 on the North Santiam River. Camp Dakota Campground rounds out the options with an activity-focused property in the Cascade foothills northeast of town.
Things to do near Sublimity
The main draw is the Trail of Ten Falls, also called the Canyon Trail, which runs along Silver Creek past ten waterfalls, with the route passing behind several of them. Shorter spur trails reach individual falls for families with younger kids. There are over 35 miles of backcountry trails for mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding.
North Santiam Park is known for a beautiful riverfront view and some of the finest steelhead fishing spots on the North Santiam River. Anglers can fish from the bank or launch a boat from the primitive ramp.
Camp Dakota offers zip lines, a high ropes challenge course, paintball, a rock climbing wall, gold panning, treasure hunting, and an 18-hole disc golf course, which can fill a rainy day when trails get muddy. Wineries, the Oregon Garden in Silverton, and Mount Angel Abbey are all within a short drive.

Summer is the peak season. Trails dry out, the North Santiam runs clear for swimming and fishing, and most campgrounds run at full capacity. Reservations are strongly recommended at Silver Falls State Park, especially on summer weekends. Book several months ahead for stays from late June through Labor Day.
Spring and fall bring cooler temperatures, fewer crowds, and bigger waterfall flows. Although summer is the most popular time to visit Silver Falls, spring is actually the best time to see the waterfalls at their fullest, since the falls have the lowest flow in summer. Depending on the first frost, mid-October is usually the peak for Silver Falls State Park's brief but spectacular fall color season, with bigleaf and vine maple providing the strongest color.
Winter is wet and quiet. Winter months often bring either large amounts of rain or sub-freezing temperatures that can result in ice or snow, and due to the park's elevation, extensive tree cover, and ambient moisture, icy conditions are common on the park trails and roads. Tent sites are closed, but electric sites and cabins are open year-round, while seasonal sites at North Santiam close for the off-season.

How to book
Silver Falls State Park is reserved through the Oregon State Parks system. Book sites at oregonstateparks.reserveamerica.com. Reservations can be made 6 months in advance. Reservations are required for cabin stays. The park's reservations line is 800-452-5687. Same-day, first-come sites are limited, so plan ahead.
North Santiam is now managed by Marion County Parks. Campsite reservations are made through the partner site Camplife, and sites are available April through October. Walk-in sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis during the open season.
Silver Spur RV Park, Phoenix RV Park, and Camp Dakota Campground are private operators that book direct through their own websites or by phone. Camp Dakota is open to the public by reservation year round.
What to expect on site
Silver Falls is a developed state park campground. Electrical sites with water remain open year-round, tent sites are seasonal May through October, and 14 cabins are open year-round with flush toilets and showers in the campground. The dump station is at North Falls group camp, about three miles away. Sites are close together and the park is busy; expect neighbors and family noise.
Pets are not allowed on the Canyon Trail, also known as the Trail of Ten Falls, or inside facilities such as log cabins, lodges, or restrooms. Plan dog-friendly hikes accordingly.
North Santiam offers a pet-friendly primitive campground and day-use facilities including a group picnic shelter, restrooms with flush toilets, and drinking fountains, but no hookups. Private parks near town offer full hookups, laundry, and Wi-Fi for travelers who prefer easier setup.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Sublimity, OR
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Sublimity, OR?
RV rental in Sublimity is affordable compared to coastal Oregon hubs. On RVezy, you can typically find travel trailers from about $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes from $175 to $275, and larger Class A coaches from $250 to $400. Prices climb in July and August when Silver Falls State Park books up fast, so booking in May or September is a smart way to find a cheap RV rental Sublimity travelers love. Tip: filter by Instant Book and look for hosts offering weekly discounts. Many Marion County owners offer 10 to 20 percent off stays of five nights or more, making your Sublimity RV trip even better value.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Sublimity%2C%20OregonWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Sublimity, Oregon?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Sublimity. Oregon does not require a commercial driver's license or any special endorsement for personal RVs, even larger Class A motorhomes. You'll need to be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and we'll verify your ID through the platform during checkout, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the US? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home-country license. Most first-time renters in the Willamette Valley are surprised how simple the process is, leaving more time to focus on the fun part: choosing your RV.
oregon.gov/odot/dmv/pages/driverid/licensetypes.aspxIs my RV rental in Sublimity protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RV rental in Sublimity booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head out on Highway 22 toward the Cascades with peace of mind. The protection plan covers eligible damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level at checkout (not the host), so you can pick what fits your trip. Tip: if you are planning to tow a kayak trailer to Detroit Lake or drive the winding North Santiam Canyon, choosing a higher protection tier is an easy way to relax and enjoy the scenery.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Sublimity RV rental?
Booking is low risk, so go ahead and lock in those Silver Falls dates. RVezy sets a clear cancellation policy that applies to every booking (hosts do not set their own), and it includes a grace period right after you book so you can change your mind without stress. The refund amount after that depends on how far out from your trip you cancel, and additional protections exist for situations like natural disasters, which can matter during Oregon's occasional winter ice storms or wildfire season. Tip: book early to secure the best rigs, knowing your reservation is backed by RVezy's support team if plans shift.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Sublimity RV trip?
Absolutely, and the area is a paradise for four-legged co-pilots. Many pet-friendly RV rental Sublimity listings on RVezy welcome dogs (and sometimes cats), so just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter to see your options. Silver Falls State Park allows leashed dogs in the campground and on the Rim Trail (dogs are not allowed on the Canyon Trail of Ten Falls), and nearby Detroit Lake State Recreation Area is also dog-friendly on leash. Tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee and to mention your dog's size. Hosts appreciate the heads up, and you will have a smoother pickup with everyone, tails included, ready to roll.
stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=park.profile&parkId=151Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Sublimity?
Yes, RV delivery in Sublimity is one of the best ways to skip the learning curve. Many RVezy hosts in the Salem and Sublimity area will drive the RV right to Silver Falls State Park, Detroit Lake, or even your driveway, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Use the Delivery filter when searching to see which listings offer it and the delivery fee. Tip: delivery is gold for first-time RV renters, because you arrive to a fully set up campsite with the awning out and the fridge cold, no backing into a tight site required.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038104494-Delivery-options-for-your-rentalHow do mileage limits work for an RV road trip from Sublimity?
You've got plenty of room to roam. Hosts on RVezy set their own mileage policies, and many Sublimity-area listings include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with optional add-on packages or even RV rental with unlimited mileage available on select rigs. For reference, Sublimity to Portland is about 55 miles, to the Oregon Coast at Lincoln City is roughly 70 miles, and to Crater Lake National Park is around 175 miles one way. Pro tip: if you're planning a big loop through the Cascades or down to Bend (about 145 miles), filter for unlimited mileage listings or pre-purchase a mileage package at checkout. It almost always costs less than paying per-mile overages later.
tripcheck.com/Where are the best campgrounds near Sublimity, OR?
You are spoiled for choice, with some of Oregon's most iconic camping just minutes away. The headliner is Silver Falls State Park (about 6 miles southeast of Sublimity), home to the Trail of Ten Falls and electric/water RV sites tucked into old-growth forest. Detroit Lake State Recreation Area (about 45 miles east on Highway 22) offers lakeside sites perfect for paddleboarding and trout fishing. Silver Spur RV Park in nearby Silverton is a tidy full-hookup option closer to town, and Salem Campground and RV up the road has a large RV section with a pool. Tip: Silver Falls books up six months out for summer weekends, so reserve as early as Oregon State Parks allows.
stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=park.profile&parkId=151When is the best time of year for an RV trip in Sublimity?
Late June through mid-September is prime time for RV camping in Sublimity, with daytime highs in the 75 to 85 F range, dry trails, and long evenings perfect for campfires. May and early October are underrated sweet spots: fewer crowds, lower prices, and lush, mossy forests still dripping with that classic Pacific Northwest atmosphere. Winters are mild but very wet (40 to 50 F with frequent rain), and snow is possible in the Cascade foothills, so November through March trips work best in well-insulated rigs near lower-elevation campgrounds. Tip: target the first two weeks of September for the magic combo of warm days, cool nights, and wide-open campground availability at Silver Falls.
weather.gov/pqr/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Sublimity?
You're going to do great, and Sublimity is one of the friendlier places in Oregon to learn. Your host will give you a full walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, slide-outs, tanks, and driving tips, and you can text them anytime during your trip. Plus, 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every booking. The roads around Sublimity are mostly wide, rural two-lanes (Cascade Highway, Highway 22), with gentle terrain that's far less stressful than mountain passes or big-city driving. Pro tip: choose a Class C motorhome or campervan rental Sublimity hosts offer for your first trip. They drive much like a large van and are ideal for first time renting an RV in the Willamette Valley.
oregon.gov/odot/safety/pages/index.aspxWhat if I break down during my Sublimity RV trip?
You're covered, day or night. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, so a flat tire on Highway 22, a battery issue at Silver Falls, or a tow situation near Detroit Lake is just one phone call away. You'll also have your host's direct contact info, and most local owners know exactly which Salem-area mobile RV techs to recommend if a quick fix is needed. Pro tip: save the RVezy support line and your host's number in your phone before pulling out of the driveway. Cell service can be patchy in the Santiam Canyon east of Mehama, so screenshots of campground directions help too.
tripcheck.com/Can I take my Sublimity RV rental to Washington or California?
Yes, cross-state road trips are welcome and popular from this corner of Oregon. RVezy listings typically allow interstate travel throughout the lower 48 US states, so a swing up to Mount Rainier (about 230 miles north) or down to the California Redwoods (around 280 miles south) is very doable. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental due to insurance coverage, and trips into Canada require host approval, so message them before booking if that is on your itinerary. Tip: a classic RV road trip from Sublimity is Highway 101 south through Newport, Florence, and on to the Redwoods. Reserve coastal campgrounds early.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I expect?
Budgeting is easier than you'd think. Most travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves (your tow vehicle does), Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 mpg, and Class A coaches around 6 to 10 mpg. Campervans are the champs at 14 to 20 mpg. As of recent Oregon averages, regular gas runs roughly $3.80 to $4.40 per gallon and diesel slightly higher, with Salem stations generally cheaper than coastal towns. Pro tip: fill up in Stayton or Salem before heading east into the Cascades on Highway 22, where prices climb noticeably past Detroit. A 200-mile round trip to Crater Lake in a Class C costs roughly $80 to $100 in fuel, easy to plug into your trip budget.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Sublimity?
For summer weekends, the sooner the better. Oregon State Parks (which runs Silver Falls and Detroit Lake) opens reservations six months in advance, and popular sites for July and August often sell out within minutes of the window opening at 8 a.m. Pacific time. Private parks like Silver Spur in Silverton and Salem Campground and RV book up two to three months out for peak weekends. For midweek or shoulder-season trips (May, September, October), you can often book just one to two weeks ahead. Tip: set a calendar reminder exactly six months before your desired Silver Falls arrival date. Having your dates and a backup site picked out before the window opens makes all the difference.
stateparksreservations.oregon.gov/What are the local driving conditions like around Sublimity?
Driving here is refreshingly mellow. Sublimity sits in the foothills of the Willamette Valley, with mostly flat-to-rolling rural roads, light traffic, and easy access to I-5 about 20 minutes west. Highway 22 east toward Detroit Lake is scenic and winding with some 5 to 6 percent grades and tighter curves near Niagara, so take it slow with a larger motorhome. Watch for fog in fall and winter mornings in the valley, and check TripCheck.com for winter conditions if you're heading toward Santiam Pass (snow chains may be required November through April). Pro tip: avoid driving Highway 22 east on Friday afternoons in summer when Portland and Salem weekenders pack the road heading to the lake.
tripcheck.com/What amenities do campgrounds near Sublimity offer?
You'll find well-equipped sites that make RV life easy. Silver Falls State Park offers electric and water hookups at most RV sites (no sewer at the site, but a dump station is on-site), plus flush toilets, hot showers, and potable water fill-ups. Detroit Lake State Recreation Area has full and partial hookups, a boat ramp, and a dump station. Private parks like Silver Spur RV Park provide full 30/50-amp hookups, Wi-Fi, and laundry. Pro tip: even if your site doesn't have sewer, your RV's gray and black tanks hold plenty for a typical 3 to 5 night stay. Always dump and refill fresh water at the campground's dump station on your way out, it's almost always free for registered guests.
stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=park.profile&parkId=151What features and amenities come with an RV rental in Sublimity?
Most rigs come ready for adventure. Expect a queen or king bed, full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), bathroom with shower and toilet, dinette that converts to extra sleeping, climate control, and seatbelted seating for travel. Larger motorhome rental Sublimity options often include a generator, outdoor speakers, awnings, and even Starlink or cellular Wi-Fi on newer listings. Travel trailers and fifth wheels are popular for families since they sleep 6 to 10. Pro tip: when comparing listings on RVezy, check the amenities tab for specifics like solar, inverter, and outdoor kitchen. These come in handy at Silver Falls where some loops don't have electric hookups and quiet hours limit generator use.
stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=park.profile&parkId=151What add-ons and pickup options can I choose for my Sublimity RV?
You can customize your trip nicely. Common add-ons on RVezy listings near Sublimity include camping chairs and tables, bedding and linen packages, generator hours, bike racks, kayak holders, propane top-offs, and pet packages, typically ranging from $10 to $75 each. For pickup, you can drive to the host's location (often in Salem, Stayton, Silverton, or Sublimity itself), or pay for delivery to a campground or your home. Mileage policies and pickup windows are listed on each rental's page. Tip: bundle add-ons like bedding plus camp chairs at booking rather than buying them retail. Hosts often discount packages, and you will arrive at Silver Falls fully kitted without a Target run in Salem on the way.
stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=park.profile&parkId=151How does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and fully online, with no cash at pickup. When you book your RV rental in Sublimity through RVezy, you pay the rental total plus taxes and any add-ons securely through the platform with a credit card. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) is pre-authorized on your card a few days before the trip, not actually charged, and released after the RV is returned in good condition. Tip: take date-stamped photos and a quick walk-around video at pickup and drop-off. It is a two-minute habit that makes returning your security deposit fast and painless, and lets you focus on planning that Trail of Ten Falls hike.
