Campgrounds near West Linn
West Linn sits at the confluence of the Willamette and Tualatin rivers, about 13 miles south of downtown Portland in Clackamas County. RV travelers use it as a quiet base for reaching Portland attractions, Willamette Valley wine country, and the Clackamas River recreation corridor without paying for an in-city site.
The closest full-hookup options cluster in nearby Wilsonville, Tualatin, and Troutdale. Sun Outdoors Portland South, in Wilsonville, sits a short drive from downtown Portland and serves as the most common base for RV travelers in the immediate area. Roamers Rest RV Park LLC in Tualatin and Riverside RV Park provide additional close-in private options, while Columbia River RV Park serves travelers who also want quick access to the Columbia River corridor east of the city.
For public-land camping, the landscape extends beyond West Linn itself. Champoeg State Heritage Area southwest of town accommodates tent campers, RV users, and guests in cabins or yurts, and Milo McIver State Park east toward Estacada provides Clackamas River access with electrical RV sites, tent sites, and a hiker/biker camp.
Things to do in West Linn
Willamette Falls, the second-largest waterfall by volume in the United States, sits on the Willamette River between Oregon City and West Linn and is visible from viewpoints along Highway 99E and northbound Interstate 205. The horseshoe-shaped falls drop about 40 feet across a 1,500-foot crest. Families use Sun Outdoors Portland South as a launch pad for Portland zoos, museums, and food carts, with downtown reachable in roughly 25 minutes by car.
On the water, the Clackamas River is the regional draw. Rafters, kayakers, and canoeists run its rapids, Estacada Lake has a boat ramp and an ADA fishing dock, and the river itself supports steelhead and Chinook runs. Milo McIver also has a 27-hole disc golf course at the Riverbend Day-use Area. Willamette Valley wineries south of town round out a typical itinerary.

Peak season runs roughly mid-June through early September, when rain backs off and daytime highs sit in the upper 70s to mid 80s. Private parks like Sun Outdoors Portland South operate year-round, but state-park campgrounds work on tighter calendars. At Milo McIver, all campsites are open from late March through the end of October, so shoulder-season trips need to confirm dates before booking.
Spring is green and wet but workable. Peak season at Milo McIver runs from spring through early fall, and spring or early summer brings the largest rapids on the Clackamas River. Wildflowers peak in April and May, and crowds are noticeably thinner than midsummer.
Fall transitions quickly into the wet season. Rainfall is heaviest from November through January, with December the wettest month at the Portland airport climate station. Winter RV trips lean heavily on private parks with full hookups, since many seasonal public campgrounds in the area are closed by then.

Booking and how to reserve
Oregon State Parks runs a single statewide reservation system. Reservations are accepted at most state-park campgrounds and can be made from one day to six months in advance, with a non-refundable transaction fee per site. Bookings are made online through oregonstateparks.reserveamerica.com or by phone at 800-452-5687.
New sites come online at 6 a.m. Pacific time daily on a rolling basis. For summer weekends at popular parks like Milo McIver and Champoeg, plan to book the moment the date opens.
Private parks have their own systems. Sun Outdoors Portland South takes reservations directly through its website or by phone, and Roamers Rest RV Park LLC, Riverside RV Park, and Columbia River RV Park each book independently. National Forest sites in the Mt. Hood and Clackamas River area book through Recreation.gov, also on a six-month rolling window, while many BLM sites are first-come, first-served.
What to expect
Sites near West Linn lean suburban rather than wilderness. Private RV parks here are typically paved with full hookups, laundry, and tight spacing, and they sit close to freeway access. Sun Outdoors Portland South is just off Interstate 5 in Wilsonville, which makes arrivals straightforward for travelers towing larger rigs.
Expect mature trees and shaded sites at the state parks. Milo McIver offers electrical sites with water, separate tent sites, hot showers, flush toilets, and an RV dump station, with picnic tables and fire rings at each site. Cell service is reliable in West Linn, Wilsonville, and Oregon City, and thins as you move east toward Estacada and the Cascade foothills.
Firewood rules matter here. Milo McIver sits within the Clackamas County permanent quarantine zone for ash, olive, and white fringe tree materials, so those firewood types must stay within the county where they were collected. Campers should buy firewood harvested within 10 miles of their destination or certified heat-treated firewood.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in West Linn, OR?

On RVezy, motorhomes average around $200 per night, while towable travel trailers and fifth wheels typically run about $120 per night. Many hosts offer 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly and monthly stays, which is huge if you're planning a longer Oregon coast loop or Columbia River Gorge trip. traveloregon.com/things-to-do/outdoor-recreation/camping/Do I need a special license to rent an RV in West Linn, Oregon?
Good news: a regular Oregon (or any state) driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in West Linn. Oregon does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal motorhome use, including Class A, B, and C rigs. You'll just need to be 25 or older with a valid license to book through RVezy, and the platform handles ID verification for you during checkout. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most first-time renters in the Portland metro choose a Class C motorhome or campervan rental West Linn hosts list, since they drive a lot like an oversized van.
oregon.gov/odot/dmv/pages/vehicle/vehicletypes.aspxWhat protection and roadside assistance come with my West Linn RV rental?
Every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head out on I-205 toward Mt. Hood with real peace of mind. You choose your protection level at checkout (not the host), so you can match coverage to your budget and trip. Roadside assistance covers things like tows, flat tires, jump-starts, lockouts, and fuel delivery, so if you have an issue on Highway 26 to the Gorge or a hookup problem at a campground, one call gets help dispatched. That built-in safety net is a big reason first-timers feel confident booking an RV rental in West Linn.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my West Linn RV rental?
Booking should feel low-risk, and it is. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), so the rules are consistent across every listing and you do not have to compare host-by-host terms. The policy factors in how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date, and refunds or credits are issued if a host cancels on you. Pro tip: book early to lock in your preferred RV (Willamette Valley summer weekends fill fast), knowing the platform-wide policy gives you a clear framework if plans shift. Full details are in the RVezy Help Center before you confirm.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a West Linn RV rental?
Yes, and Oregon is one of the most dog-friendly states in the country. Plenty of pet-friendly RV rental West Linn options are on RVezy, just use the Pet-Friendly filter when searching. Hosts who allow pets often charge a small pet cleaning fee, which is shown clearly before booking. Once you have your rig, West Linn's Mary S. Young Park has riverfront trails dogs love, and Champoeg State Heritage Area (about 20 minutes south) is leash-friendly with miles of paved paths. Many stretches of the Oregon Coast, about two hours west, also welcome leashed dogs. Message the host directly through RVezy if you want to confirm pet rules before booking.
stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=v.dsp_petsInParksCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home in West Linn?
Yes, RV delivery in West Linn is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers. Many local hosts will drive the RV to your driveway, your campground site, or even an event venue, then handle the full setup including leveling, hooking up power and water, and walking you through every system. That means you can skip the stress of driving a 30-foot motorhome through Portland traffic on I-5. Delivery fees are set by each host based on distance and RV type, and they're shown clearly before you book. Pro tip: ask about delivery to Champoeg State Heritage Area or Milo McIver State Park, both popular drop-off spots within an easy radius.
stateparks.oregon.gov/How far can I travel on a West Linn RV trip, and what's the mileage policy?
You've got serious range from West Linn, and many hosts offer generous or even RV rental with unlimited mileage options. Most listings include a daily mileage allowance (often 100 to 150 miles per day) with a small per-mile fee beyond that, and the cap is clearly displayed on each listing. From West Linn you're 90 minutes to Mt. Hood, 2 hours to Cannon Beach, about 4 hours to Bend in Central Oregon, and 5 hours to Crater Lake National Park. If you're planning a bigger loop, filter for unlimited mileage listings, or message hosts to negotiate. Either way, every mile of your Oregon RV trip pays off in jaw-dropping scenery.

stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=parkPage&parkId=113When is the best time of year for an RV trip from West Linn?
The sweet spot for an RV road trip from West Linn is mid-June through mid-September, when daytime highs sit in a comfortable 75 to 85 degree range and rainfall drops to under half an inch in July. The Willamette Valley enjoys long, dry summer days (up to 15.6 hours of daylight in June), making it ideal for late-evening campfires. Shoulder seasons (May and late September into October) bring fewer crowds, gorgeous fall color along the Clackamas River, and lower nightly rates. Winters are mild but wet (lows around 34°F, with about 45 inches of annual rain), so if you visit November to February, look for an RV with a strong furnace and shore-power hookups.
forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=West+Linn&state=OR&site=PQR&textField1=45.3658&textField2=-122.611I have never rented an RV before. How does the orientation work?

Every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup (or at delivery), showing you how to operate the generator, slide-outs, water system, propane, leveling jacks, and waste tanks. You will not be tossed the keys and waved off. Hosts are real people who want your trip to go smoothly, and many include written cheat sheets plus their phone number for the duration of your trip. A short shakedown stop at Clackamette RV Park (about 10 minutes away in Oregon City) is a great way to practice hookups before driving farther. Add 24/7 roadside assistance and you have serious backup.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if I have a breakdown on my Oregon RV trip?
You are never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance covering tows, jump-starts, flat tires, lockouts, and fuel delivery. Whether you are climbing Highway 26 toward Government Camp, parked near Multnomah Falls, or winding through Hood River, one phone call gets help dispatched. Your host is also reachable by message in the RVezy app for rig-specific questions, like how to reset the inverter or restart the water pump. Cell coverage is strong throughout the Portland metro and along I-5, I-205, and I-84, with weaker signal deep in Mt. Hood National Forest. Pro tip: download offline maps before heading into the Cascades.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my West Linn RV rental to Washington, California, or Canada?
Travel across U.S. state lines is generally welcome, so trips up I-5 to Seattle, east to Idaho, or south to Redwood National Park are popular RV road trip from West Linn options. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and protection plan, so message the host before booking to confirm and check passport requirements. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals, since coverage does not extend there. Favorite multi-state runs from West Linn include the Oregon-California Redwoods loop (about 6 hours south), the Olympic Peninsula (about 4 hours north), and the Idaho panhandle via the Columbia River Gorge. Plan your route and confirm with your host before departure.

eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near West Linn?
For Oregon State Parks campgrounds (including Champoeg and Milo McIver), reservations open exactly 6 months in advance at 6:00 a.m. Pacific Time on a rolling basis through the Oregon State Parks reservation system. Summer weekends, holiday weeks, and anything on the Oregon Coast fill within minutes of release, so set an alarm. For private parks like Sun Outdoors Portland South or Clackamette RV Park, 1 to 3 months ahead is usually enough. Same-day reservations are now allowed statewide, which is great for last-minute cancellations. Pro tip: midweek stays at Champoeg are easier to grab, and you'll get the run of the bike paths and Willamette riverfront without weekend crowds.
stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=reserve.makeWhat are driving conditions like around West Linn?
West Linn sits at the junction of I-205 and Highway 43, with I-5 just minutes away, so getting in and out of town in an RV is straightforward. Stick to the interstates and major routes (I-205, I-5, Highway 26 to Mt. Hood, I-84 through the Columbia River Gorge) and avoid narrow downtown Portland streets and tight residential roads in larger rigs. Winter can bring rain and occasional ice on hills, while summer is dry and easy. Check ODOT TripCheck for chain requirements and pass conditions before heading to Mt. Hood. Oregon allows single motorhomes up to 45 feet, so most rental rigs are well within legal limits. Many West Linn hosts offer delivery if city driving feels intimidating.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=West%20Linn%2C%20OregonHow does payment work, and what should I expect for the security deposit?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card when you book, so there is no cash exchange with the host.
