Campgrounds near Yachats, Oregon
Yachats sits on Oregon's central coast where the Coast Range meets the Pacific, with US Highway 101 running straight through town. Most RV camping clusters along a stretch of 101 between Waldport to the north and the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area to the south. Options range from oceanfront state-park sites to full-hookup private resorts.
Beachside State Recreation Site sits between Waldport and Yachats with direct beach access and electric sites with water. Sea Perch RV Park is south of Yachats with oceanfront RV sites. Handy Haven RV Park and Car Wash and McKinley's Marina and RV Park serve travelers wanting something closer to town or river access, and the Waldport / Newport KOA Journey offers a chain-standard option a short drive north.
For public-land camping, Cape Perpetua Campground inside the Siuslaw National Forest provides tent sites along Cape Creek, just south of town.
Things to do near Yachats
The Cape Perpetua Scenic Area is the main draw, with a trail network through coastal temperate rainforest, a visitor center, and the highest viewpoint accessible by car along the Oregon Coast at 800 feet above the Pacific. Short hikes lead to Devil's Churn, Spouting Horn, Thor's Well, and the Giant Spruce. Low tide opens up rich tidepools along the protected Marine Garden shoreline.
In town, the Yachats 804 Trail follows the rocky shoreline north toward Smelt Sands, a popular whale-watching spot. Beachcombers hunt agate and jasper at Neptune State Scenic Viewpoint and Strawberry Hill. Heceta Head Lighthouse and Sea Lion Caves sit a short drive south.

Summer is peak season. July and August see the least rain and the warmest, driest weather, and they are also the busiest months for coastal tourism. Sites at Beachside State Recreation Site and other popular campgrounds can fill months in advance for weekends from late June through Labor Day.
Spring and fall bring fewer crowds and active wildlife. Gray whales pass the coast on northbound migration in spring and southbound in late fall and early winter, and ranger-led whale watch weeks are scheduled along the central coast. Spring wildflowers bloom along the Saint Perpetua and Captain Cook trails.
Winter is the wet season, with December typically the rainiest month and frequent Pacific storms producing dramatic surf. Beachside State Recreation Site operates on a seasonal schedule and closes from November 1 through March 14, reopening March 15 weather permitting. Storm watching is a legitimate winter activity, but plan for rain on most days and watch for sneaker-wave advisories before walking the shoreline.
How to book campgrounds near Yachats
Oregon State Parks sites, including Beachside State Recreation Site, are booked through the Oregon State Parks reservation system, operated by ReserveAmerica. Reservations open up to six months in advance on a rolling daily window, and popular summer weekends are typically claimed the day they release.
Cape Perpetua Campground, run by the U.S. Forest Service through the Siuslaw National Forest, is reserved through Recreation.gov on a rolling six-month window. Private parks such as Sea Perch RV Park, Handy Haven RV Park and Car Wash, McKinley's Marina and RV Park, and the Waldport / Newport KOA Journey are booked directly with the operator through their own websites, and oceanfront sites can fill far in advance for summer.
What to expect
Expect cool, damp weather year-round. Summer highs sit in the mid 60s Fahrenheit, ocean fog is common even in July, and evenings turn chilly. Wind off the Pacific is constant. Pack layers, rain gear, and sturdy shoes for slippery basalt around tidepools and headlands.
Cell service is spotty south of Yachats and inside the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area. Some private parks provide Wi-Fi as a workaround. Sites at Beachside have electric and water hookups but no sewer; the nearest state-park dump stations are at South Beach and Carl G. Washburne, each about 17 miles away.
Roads are narrow and winding along Highway 101. Drivers of larger rigs should plan fuel and grocery stops in Waldport, Newport, or Florence rather than relying on Yachats itself.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Yachats, OR
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Yachats, Oregon?
RV rental in Yachats is surprisingly affordable for an Oregon Coast getaway. On RVezy, travel trailers near Yachats typically run about $90 to $175 per night, Class C motorhomes range from about $175 to $295 per night, and larger Class A rigs can reach $300 or more. Hosts set their own pricing, so you can find cheap RV rental Yachats options by traveling midweek or in the shoulder season (April, May, late September, October). Use the price filter to sort by budget and look for listings offering weekly discounts. Booking a Sunday through Thursday stretch often saves notably compared to a Friday or Saturday pickup, leaving more in the budget for fresh Dungeness crab in town.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Yachats,OregonDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Yachats, Oregon?
Good news for first-timers: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Yachats. Oregon does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes, Class A, Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, or fifth wheels. You'll just need to be 25 or older with a valid driver's license, and RVezy verifies your ID right through the platform during booking. International visitors should grab an International Driving Permit (IDP) from their home country's auto association before flying in. That's it, no test, no extra paperwork. Most renters are surprised at how quickly they go from booking to cruising Highway 101.
oregon.gov/odot/dmv/pages/driverid/licensemain.aspxWhat kind of protection is included with my Yachats RV rental?
Every RVezy booking in Yachats includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can focus on Thor's Well and tide pools instead of worst-case scenarios. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level at checkout based on the peace of mind you want. Roadside assistance is included with the plan, so if you have a flat on Highway 101 or a battery issue at Cape Perpetua, one call gets you sorted. Choosing a higher tier generally means a lower deductible and a more relaxed road trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Yachats RV trip?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation, not the host, and it isn't displayed on individual listings. The exact refund details are shown during checkout and in your booking confirmation, and refund amounts depend on how close you are to your trip start date. If a host cancels, RVezy will refund you or offer travel credit. If Pacific storms or wildfire smoke events affect your dates on the Oregon Coast, contact RVezy support right away, they handle these cases regularly for coastal trips.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Yachats RV rental?
Yes, Yachats is one of the most dog-friendly towns on the Oregon Coast, and pet-friendly RV rental Yachats options are easy to find. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see listings that welcome dogs, and check the host's pet fee (commonly $25 to $75 for the trip). Once you arrive, your pup will enjoy the beach access, the 804 Trail along the bluffs, and dog-welcoming patios at Yachats Brewing and Luna Sea Fish House. Nearby campgrounds such as Beachside State Recreation Site and Tillicum Beach allow leashed pets. Pack a towel for sandy paws and you're set.
stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=parkPage.dsp_parkPage&parkId=147Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Yachats?
Yes, RV delivery Yachats is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you're flying into Eugene or Portland and prefer not to drive a larger rig down Highway 101 yourself. Many RVezy hosts deliver to spots like Beverly Beach State Park, Cape Perpetua Campground, Tillicum Beach, Sea Perch RV Resort, or a vacation rental driveway in town. Use the Delivery filter when searching, then message the host with your destination for an exact quote (typical delivery fees run a few dollars per mile). The host will level the RV, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system, so you can show up and start your Yachats RV trip with minimal hassle.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Yachats,OregonHow does mileage work, and how far can I drive on a Yachats RV trip?
Mileage is set by each host and shown on the listing. Many Yachats hosts offer generous daily allowances (often 100 to 200 miles per day), and some list RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal if you plan to road-trip the coast. For perspective, Yachats to Newport is about 24 miles, to Florence about 25 miles, to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area about 28 miles, to Cannon Beach about 145 miles, and to Crater Lake National Park roughly 200 miles. If you're planning a multi-day loop, filter for unlimited mileage listings or message the host for a custom package.
fs.usda.gov/recarea/siuslaw/recarea/?recid=42465Where are the best campgrounds near Yachats for an RV?
You've got fantastic options within 10 miles of town. Cape Perpetua Campground (2 miles south) sits in old-growth forest steps from Thor's Well and Devil's Churn, great for smaller rigs. Tillicum Beach Campground (4 miles north) offers oceanfront sites with the surf basically at your door. Beachside State Recreation Site (4 miles north) has electric hookups and direct beach access. Sea Perch RV Resort (about 6 miles south) is a full-hookup oceanfront resort with 50-amp service. Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park (14 miles south) is a quieter, forested option. Pro tip for RV camping Yachats: Tillicum Beach is open year-round and books up fast, snag your spot the moment your dates land on the reservation window.
fs.usda.gov/recarea/siuslaw/recarea/?recid=42465When is the best time to rent an RV in Yachats?
July, August, and September are the sweet spot: daytime highs sit around 65 to 70°F, rainfall drops to its lowest of the year (July averages under an inch), and the marine layer usually burns off by midday. June is also lovely but a bit cloudier. Shoulder season (May and October) delivers fewer crowds, dramatic skies, and lower nightly rates, October is actually a tourism high season locally for storm-watching and is a savvy traveler's secret. Winter rentals (November to March) are absolutely available and underrated for storm-watching trips, just expect 10 to 15 inches of rain per month. Insider tip: time your visit for the Yachats Mushroom Festival in late October for a uniquely local fall experience.
weather.gov/pqr/I've never driven an RV before, will I be okay on the Oregon Coast?
You'll be in good shape. First time renting an RV is exactly what RVezy is built for. Every host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, slide-outs, and the dump process, and they're a text away during your trip. For a confidence boost, start with a smaller Class C motorhome or a Class B campervan, which handle Highway 101's curves between Yachats and Newport more easily than a long Class A. Stick to daytime driving, use the slow-vehicle pullouts along this stretch, and you'll feel comfortable by the time you reach the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area. Many guests choose delivery for their first trip to skip the drive entirely.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You're not on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance through the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 101, a dead battery at Cape Perpetua, or a lockout at Sea Perch RV Resort is one phone call away from being handled. For mechanical or appliance questions, such as a fridge that won't cool or a stuck awning, your host is your first call and usually answers quickly since they know their RV inside and out. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after every trip. Save the roadside number and your host's contact in your phone before you leave, cell service can be spotty along stretches of the central Oregon Coast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best road trip destinations from Yachats?
Yachats is well positioned for an RV road trip from Yachats up or down the coast. Popular routes include: north about 24 miles to Newport (Oregon Coast Aquarium, Nye Beach), south about 25 miles to Florence and the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, north about 50 miles to Lincoln City, south about 50 miles to Reedsport for the Umpqua Lighthouse, inland about 90 miles to Eugene, or a longer push southeast (around 200 miles) to Crater Lake National Park. Cross-border travel into Canada or Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals. If you're planning a multi-state loop into Washington or California, message the host before booking to confirm.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038103654-Where-can-I-travel-with-the-RVWhat should I budget for fuel on a Yachats RV trip?
Realistic numbers help with planning: a Class C motorhome averages about 8 to 10 miles per gallon, a Class B campervan about 16 to 20 MPG, and a truck plus travel trailer combo around 10 to 13 MPG. Oregon gas prices typically run above the national average. Yachats has a gas station in town, with additional options in Waldport (about 7 miles north) or Florence (about 25 miles south), so fill up when you can. As a rule of thumb, budget roughly $0.40 to $0.55 per mile for a Class C. Note that Oregon historically required full-service fueling, though as of 2023 self-service is also permitted at most stations.
oregon.gov/osfm/business-industry/pages/cardlock.aspxHow far in advance should I book a campground near Yachats?
For peak season (mid-June through Labor Day), aim to book Oregon State Park sites the moment they open, exactly six months in advance to the day at 6 a.m. Pacific time through the Oregon State Parks reservation system (Reserve America). Tillicum Beach, Beverly Beach, and Beachside fill within hours for summer weekends. For shoulder season (May, late September, October), 1 to 2 months ahead is usually plenty. National Forest sites like Cape Perpetua book through Recreation.gov on the same 6-month window. Private parks like Sea Perch RV Resort have their own booking systems and also fill fast. Pro tip: same-day reservations are now available online statewide, so cancellations can sometimes score you a last-minute oceanfront spot.
stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=reserve.makeWhat are driving conditions like on Highway 101 around Yachats?
Highway 101 through Yachats is one of America's most scenic drives, and it's totally manageable in an RV with a little prep. The road is paved, two-lane, and winds along cliffs with frequent ocean overlooks. Watch for: dense morning fog (especially May-July), sudden rain showers year-round, occasional rockslides in winter, and the curvy stretch around Cape Perpetua just south of town where the speed drops to 35 mph. Use slow-vehicle turnouts to let locals pass (they really appreciate it), avoid driving at sunset when glare can be intense, and check TripCheck.com before you head out. Pro tip: sneaker waves are a real hazard on coastal beaches here, so park your RV well above the high-tide line and never turn your back on the surf.
tripcheck.com/What amenities do Yachats-area campgrounds offer for RVs?
You've got the full range. Full-hookup parks like Sea Perch RV Resort offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, Wi-Fi, and propane fire pits. Beachside State Recreation Site has electric and water sites plus a dump station. Tillicum Beach offers electric hookups, drinking water, and flush toilets. Cape Perpetua Campground is more rustic (no hookups) but has potable water and vault toilets. For dumping tanks and filling fresh water, the most reliable public stations are at South Beach State Park (25 miles north in Newport) and Honeyman State Park (south of Florence). Most state park campgrounds also have hot showers included with your site fee, a luxury after a day of beachcombing.
stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=parkPage.dsp_parkPage&parkId=148What equipment and features should I expect inside my Yachats RV rental?
You'll typically be well-equipped. Most RVezy motorhome rental Yachats listings include a queen or king bed, a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink, cookware), a bathroom with toilet and shower, a dinette, heating, air conditioning, and seatbelted seating for travel. Class C motorhomes typically sleep 4 to 7 with bunks and convertible dinettes, making them great for a family RV trip Yachats adventure, while campervan rental Yachats options sleep 2 to 4 in a compact footprint. Many hosts offer linens, kitchen kits, outdoor chairs, generators, and beach gear as add-ons. TVs are common; Wi-Fi varies, and coastal coverage is spotty regardless. Check each listing's amenity list and message the host for anything specific.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Yachats,OregonWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for Yachats rentals?
Hosts offer a great menu of extras to customize your trip. Common add-ons include: linen and towel kits ($25-$50), kitchen packages ($25-$40), outdoor gear (camp chairs, fire pits, kayaks, paddleboards), generators, bike racks, and pet packages. Pickup is usually at the host's home or a nearby meeting point, with the walkthrough taking 30 to 60 minutes. Many central Oregon Coast hosts also offer delivery to Yachats-area campgrounds, vacation rentals, or even Eugene Airport (EUG, 90 minutes inland). Mileage policies vary by listing, some include unlimited miles, others a daily allowance with reasonable overage fees. Pro tip: book a Friday morning pickup instead of afternoon so you arrive at your campground with daylight to spare for setup.
flyeug.com/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host. Your rental total (nightly rate, fees, protection plan, taxes) is processed when the host accepts your booking. The security deposit is separate from the booking payment and is held shortly before your trip starts, with the amount varying by RV and the protection tier you choose. It's released after your trip ends, assuming no damage or policy violations. To avoid issues: do a thorough video walkthrough with the host at pickup and dropoff, refill fuel and propane to starting levels, empty the tanks at a proper dump station, and return the RV on time.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park or stay overnight in an RV right in Yachats?
Yachats itself is small (population around 1,000) and doesn't allow overnight street parking or sleeping in vehicles on city streets, but you have excellent legal options within a couple miles. The closest in-town RV spot is Tillicum Beach Campground (4 miles north on Hwy 101) or Cape Perpetua Campground (2 miles south). Sea Perch RV Resort and Beachside State Recreation Site are both within 6 miles. Walmart and Cracker Barrel-style boondocking isn't really a thing here since the nearest big-box stores are 25+ miles away in Newport or Florence. The good news: with so many beautiful campgrounds within 10 minutes of downtown Yachats, you can walk or bike into town for dinner at the Drift Inn and be back in your RV by dark.
