Campgrounds and RV parks near Mars, PA

Mars is a small borough in Butler County, roughly 25 miles north of Pittsburgh and a short drive from the I-79 and PA-228 corridor. The area sits in the rolling hills of western Pennsylvania, with a humid continental climate and heavily wooded terrain that supports a mix of private RV parks and public day-use lands within easy reach. RV renters have several practical options nearby. Buttercup Woodlands Campground, Indian Brave Campgrounds, Mountain Top Campground, Bear Run Campground, and Smith Grove Camp Grounds cover the private side, offering hookups, family amenities, and seasonal sites tailored to weekend and extended stays. Public land is close by but works differently. Moraine State Park, about 40 miles north of Pittsburgh, does not allow individual tent or RV camping; only modern cabins, organized-group tent areas, and a backpacking shelter along the North Country Trail are available. McConnells Mill State Park is day-use only. RV travelers looking for hookups should plan around the private campgrounds listed above and treat the state parks as day-trip destinations.

Private campgrounds near Mars, including Buttercup Woodlands Campground, Indian Brave Campgrounds, Mountain Top Campground, Bear Run Campground, and Smith Grove Camp Grounds, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For summer weekends and holidays, book several months in advance; full-hookup pull-through sites go first. Modern cabins and group tenting at Moraine State Park are reserved through the Pennsylvania State Parks system on ReserveAmerica. Reservations open eleven months ahead and must be made at least three days before arrival. Cabin 11 is fully ADA accessible, and pets are permitted in Cabins 7 and 11 with advance reservation. McConnells Mill State Park has no overnight camping, so pair a day visit there with a stay at one of the private campgrounds or a Moraine cabin.
