Campgrounds near Arial, South Carolina
Arial is an unincorporated community in Pickens County in the Upstate region of South Carolina, sitting at the foot of the Blue Ridge Escarpment. The area serves as a practical base for RV travelers heading to Table Rock State Park, a 3,000-acre mountain park in the Blue Ridge foothills of Pickens County built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. Greenville sits roughly forty minutes southeast, providing groceries, fuel, and RV services within an easy drive.
The closest developed camping is inside Table Rock State Park itself. The park provides a 69-site camping area located near the park entrance and a 25-site camping area located near White Oaks picnic area. Each site has individual water and electrical hookups, and a picnic table. Some sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet. Both campgrounds are convenient to restrooms with hot showers. Creekside Campground at Table Rock and White Oak - Table Rock State Park sit inside the park boundary.
Private options fill in the gaps outside the park gates. Ivy Acres RV Park, Palmetto Cove Inc RV Park, and Solitude Pointe Cabins and RV Park serve travelers who want full hookups, longer rigs, or a quieter alternative to state park camping.
Things to do near Arial
Table Rock State Park is the primary draw. Hikers tackle the Table Rock Trail to the summit or the shorter Carrick Creek loop, and families use the swim beach at Pinnacle Lake and paddle craft on Lake Oolenoy during warm months.
Scenic Highway 11, the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Byway, links Table Rock to Caesars Head State Park, Jones Gap State Park, and a string of waterfalls including Twin Falls and Wildcat Branch Falls. Lake Keowee and Lake Jocassee lie a short drive west for boating, kayaking, and trout fishing.
Off-park, the town of Pickens and nearby Easley offer farmers markets and small-town restaurants. Greenville's downtown, with Falls Park on the Reedy, works well as a rainy-day option for families based at a nearby campground.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel in this part of the Upstate. March through May brings dogwood and mountain laurel bloom, mild days, and cool nights well suited to hiking Table Rock's steep trails. Fall color typically peaks from mid-October into early November across the escarpment, and weekend sites at Table Rock State Park fill quickly during that window.
Summer is hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common. Lake access and shaded creekside sites become the priority, and campgrounds inside the park run at high occupancy from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Reserving well in advance is standard practice.
Winter is the quiet season. Daytime highs are usually mild, but overnight freezes are routine, and some water hookups and comfort stations may operate on reduced service. Trails remain open year-round, and clear winter days offer the longest views from Table Rock's summit. Check the South Carolina State Parks site for current conditions before arrival.

Great RV! Super clean. Prompt delivery and pick up! Jonathan is a great host!

This was an incredible camping experience! It was the ideal way to camp, as we had always used tents before. It was fantastic that the RV was delivered and ready to use! There was ample space for my family to enjoy the room without feeling cramped. A big storm rolled in, and it was a great place to come together and use the appliances inside to cook dinner and watch a movie as a family. I highly recommend this rental for anyone seeking a great camping stay, and for anyone who has always wanted to try out the RV experience!

Everything was Awesome, enjoyed working with The love birds. I would recommend anyone to use them. This was my first rv rental. Everything was explained to me how to work it. If I had any questions they were there to walk me through it.
Sharyl E. - Aug 2024
Only problem we had was some little black ants - but I think that was as much to do with the rain as anything. Great communication and responsiveness. Would rent from them again if back in the area.

How to book campgrounds near Arial
Sites inside Table Rock State Park are booked through the South Carolina State Parks reservation system. Reservations at state parks may be made up to 13 months in advance, and there are three convenient ways to make reservations: online at the state parks reservations page, by phone toll-free at 1-866-345-PARK, or by contacting the park directly. All campers check in at the park Visitor Center at 158 E. Ellison Lane, Pickens, SC 29671.
Private parks such as Ivy Acres RV Park, Palmetto Cove Inc RV Park, and Solitude Pointe Cabins and RV Park take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Weekends from spring through fall book out first, so lock in dates early.
One rule to plan around: all firewood brought into South Carolina State Parks must be from within the state and from less than 50 miles away. Buy local on the way in.
What to expect on arrival
Roads into the Table Rock area are paved and generally in good condition, though the final approaches involve winding two-lane mountain roads. Roads through the first loop run narrow and steep, requiring careful navigation for larger rigs. Some sites at Table Rock accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, but not all, so match the reservation to the rig length.
Cell coverage in the White Oaks section is better than in the main loops, where Verizon and T-Mobile service drops to nearly nothing. Bears and raccoons are active in the area, so food should be stored inside the RV or in a hard-sided container overnight.
Pets are allowed in cabins 4, 9, 10 and 11, but not in any other cabins, indoor areas, or on the swim beach at Table Rock State Park. Pets are allowed in most other outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet. Bring water for the dog on hot summer hikes.

Devils Fork State Park on stunning Lake Jocassee (around 22 miles) is the only public access point to the lake and has full-hookup sites. Keowee-Toxaway State Park (18 miles) is quieter and great for kayakers. For a private option, April Valley RV Park in Pickens caters to adults 45+. Reserve early through the South Carolina State Parks site, especially for fall leaf-peeping weekends in October when sites book months out.
southcarolinaparks.com/table-rock/campingWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Arial, SC?
Spring and fall are the sweet spot for an Arial RV trip, and locals will tell you October might be the single best month all year. From mid-March through May, daytime highs settle into the 65-78F range with blooming dogwoods and rhododendrons across the Blue Ridge foothills. October brings crisp 60-75F days, low humidity, and spectacular leaf color on Table Rock and Caesars Head. Summer (June-August) is warm and humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, plus afternoon thunderstorms; great for lake days at Jocassee but plan AC-friendly stops. Winters are mild (40s-50s), and many campgrounds stay open year-round, so a quiet January getaway is totally doable.
weather.gov/gsp/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving around Arial?
You'll do great, and Arial is genuinely one of the friendlier launch points for first time renting an RV. Roads in Pickens County are wide and lightly trafficked compared to the Greenville metro, and SC-8 and US-123 give you easy approaches to most campgrounds. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to operate the slides, leveling jacks, propane, water systems, and dash controls. Take 30 minutes in a parking lot to practice turns and backing before you head out. Pro tip: avoid downtown Greenville's Main Street and stick to I-85 or US-123 for city access. With delivery as a backup, you may not even need to drive the RV at all.
scdps.sc.gov/shpWhat happens if something breaks down during my RV trip?
You're covered. Every RVezy rental in Arial, SC includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on SC-11 or a dead battery at Devils Fork is one phone call away from help. The roadside team can dispatch tire service, jump-starts, fuel delivery, lockout assistance, and towing to the nearest qualified shop. Your host is also a great first call for quirks specific to their rig (the AC switch, the awning button), and RVezy support is reachable around the clock for anything bigger. Save the roadside number to your phone before you leave the driveway and you can relax knowing your Upstate adventure has a safety net.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Arial RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes to most interstate travel. You can drive your Arial RV rental into North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, and beyond without any extra paperwork, which makes road trips to Asheville, the Smokies, Savannah, and Charleston completely doable. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the protection package selected; just message the host before booking and confirm with RVezy support so the paperwork is in order. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Popular multi-state loops from Arial include the Blue Ridge Parkway run up to Asheville and the Cherokee Foothills loop through Walhalla and Westminster.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat kind of fuel economy and budget should I plan for?
Plan on roughly 8-10 miles per gallon (MPG) for a Class A motorhome, 10-14 MPG for a Class C, 18-22 MPG for a Class B campervan, and your tow vehicle's normal MPG (minus 30 to 40 percent) when pulling a travel trailer. South Carolina consistently has some of the lowest gas prices in the country, often 30-50 cents below the national average, which is great news for your Arial RV trip budget. Fill up at the Murphy USA or Ingles stations in Easley or Pickens before heading into the mountains, where prices climb a bit. A typical 4-day, 300-mile loop through Table Rock and Lake Jocassee runs $90-$180 in fuel.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Arial?
For peak season, book early; for off-peak, you've got flexibility. South Carolina State Parks let you reserve up to 13 months in advance through the official reservation site, and that head start matters at popular spots like Table Rock, Devils Fork, and Keowee-Toxaway, which fill up 4-6 months out for spring weekends, summer holidays, and October leaf season. For weekday or winter stays, you can often grab a site a week or two ahead. Private parks like April Valley in Pickens tend to have more last-minute availability. Pro tip: if Table Rock is full, check White Oaks (the smaller campground inside the park) or pivot to nearby Oconee State Park for a similar Blue Ridge vibe.
reserve.southcarolinaparks.com/table-rock/campingWhat are the local driving conditions like around Arial?
Driving around Arial is mostly relaxed, with a few mountain-road moments to plan for. The main routes (US-123, SC-8, and SC-183) are well-maintained two-to-four-lane roads through rolling Piedmont terrain. Heading north on SC-11 toward Table Rock and Caesars Head, the grades steepen and curves tighten, so downshift on descents and use lower gears to save your brakes. Summer afternoons can bring sudden thunderstorms; pull over and wait them out. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk on rural Pickens County roads. The state mandates seatbelts for all front-seat passengers, and the rig's maximum legal length is 40 feet for motorhomes (65 feet combined with a tow). City driving in Greenville is best avoided in larger Class A rigs.
scdot.org/travel/travel-roadConditions.aspxWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds around Arial?
Campgrounds near Arial are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Table Rock State Park's 94 sites all include water and 30-amp electric (some 50-amp), with hot showers, flush toilets, a dump station, laundry, a camp store, and Wi-Fi at the main campground. Devils Fork has full-hookup sites with water, sewer, and electric, plus boat launch access to Lake Jocassee. Keowee-Toxaway offers water and electric with a central dump station. To fill fresh water or dump tanks between stops, the SC State Parks dump stations are open to registered campers, and some private parks allow paid dumping for non-guests. Always confirm pull-through versus back-in sites when you reserve so your rig fits.
southcarolinaparks.com/camping-and-lodging/camping/tent-and-rvWhat features and amenities come with the RV itself?
Most RVs you'll rent in Arial come fully equipped for a great trip. Expect a queen or king bed, kitchen with fridge/freezer, stovetop, microwave, sink, and basic cookware; a wet or dry bathroom with toilet and shower; air conditioning (essential for SC summers); furnace for cool mountain nights; and dining/lounge seating that often converts to extra sleeping space. Many listings include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and outdoor awning. Generator and solar setups are common in Class B and Class C rigs for boondocking near Lake Jocassee. Seatbelt counts vary by model; confirm how many travelers can ride legally before booking. Check each listing's amenities tab to match the rig to your trip style.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehiclesWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
You've got lots of flexibility when you rent an RV in Arial. Common add-ons hosts offer include linen and towel packages ($25-$75), kitchen kits, camp chairs and tables, generators, bike racks, fishing gear, and pet packages, all priced per trip. Pickup is typically at the host's home in Pickens, Easley, or Liberty, with a 30-60 minute walkthrough included free. Delivery to Table Rock, Devils Fork, or another campground usually runs $2-$4 per mile round trip with a setup fee. Mileage policies range from 100 free miles per night to unlimited, so use the filters to match your route. Pro tip: bundle linens and a generator if you're heading to a primitive site on Lake Jocassee.
discoversouthcarolina.com/campgroundsHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is straightforward and fully handled through RVezy, so there's no cash exchange at pickup. You'll pay the booking total (rental rate, service fee, chosen protection plan, and any add-ons) by credit or debit card when you book. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card around the start of your trip; the amount depends on the rig and the protection plan you select. As long as the RV comes back in the condition it left, with the right fuel and tank levels, that hold is released after drop-off. Pro tip: snap photos at pickup and drop-off to document condition and you'll breeze through deposit return.
