Campgrounds near Batesburg-Leesville
Batesburg-Leesville sits in the Midlands of South Carolina, roughly 30 miles west of Columbia and within reach of Lake Murray, a 50,000-acre reservoir on the Saluda River. The town works as a practical base for RV travelers who want lake access, state park camping, and quick highway connections to Columbia, Aiken, and Augusta.
The closest full-service option is Mr Zs RV Park, followed by Siesta Cove Marina- RV Park on the Lake Murray shoreline. Dreher Island State Park, the region's marquee public campground, spans three islands linked to the mainland by a causeway and two bridges and provides access to over 12 miles of Lake Murray shoreline. Cedar Creek Resort Clothing Optional serves a niche adults-only audience.
For travelers heading south toward horse country, Aiken RV Park sits off Interstate 20 and is a short drive from downtown Aiken. Between these options, RV travelers can pick lakefront state park sites, private marina hookups, or interstate-adjacent pull-throughs depending on the trip.
Things to do near Batesburg-Leesville
Lake Murray drives most of the recreation. Dreher Island State Park is well known for striped bass and largemouth bass fishing and has long been a popular launching spot for major national fishing tournaments. The park has three boat launch ramps, a gas dock, hiking and biking trails, and a playground.
Boaters, kayakers, and anglers can also use Siesta Cove Marina- RV Park as a launch point. Land-based activities include woodsy hiking trails at Dreher Island, purple martin viewing from June through August, and picnicking at the park's shelters.
Day trips work well from this base. Columbia is roughly 30 miles east for zoo visits and riverwalks, and historic downtown Aiken sits a short drive south of Aiken RV Park with shops, restaurants, and equestrian sights.

The Midlands have a humid subtropical climate. Summers are hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common and precipitation typically peaking in the warmer months. RV travelers who dislike heat and humidity often prefer spring and fall, when highs are milder and rainfall drops off.
Winters are cool rather than harsh. Columbia normally warms above freezing during the day, and measurable snow is rare, averaging about an inch per year, so Dreher Island and Lake Murray campgrounds remain accessible and lightly used. Lake fishing for striped bass holds up well in the cooler months.
Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November, with the highest activity typically in late summer and early fall. Inland sites near Lake Murray are less exposed than the coast, but heavy rain bands and wind from tropical systems can still affect camping plans during this window.

How to book
Dreher Island State Park uses the South Carolina State Parks reservation system. Reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance by phone at 1-866-345-PARK or online through the state parks reservation site. Bookings requested less than one day before check-in must be made directly with the park. The minimum stay is two nights and the maximum is 14 nights, and the person reserving must be at least 18 and occupy the site.
Private parks handle bookings on their own platforms. Aiken RV Park takes reservations directly, and Mr Zs RV Park, Siesta Cove Marina- RV Park, and Cedar Creek Resort Clothing Optional should be contacted directly to confirm availability, rig-size limits, and hookup type.
What to expect
At Dreher Island State Park, the campground has 97 standard single-family sites with water and electric hookups, many right on the Lake Murray shoreline. Each site has a paved pad, picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Amenities include drinking water, hot showers, flush toilets, a dump station, WiFi, a camp store, and a playground. Pets are allowed on a leash no longer than six feet and cannot be left unattended.
Aiken RV Park offers pull-through sites with 30 and 50 amp hookups, WiFi, showers, and laundry. Sites are level, and the park sits close to Interstate 20, so travelers who want quiet should ask for a spot away from the road. Contact private parks directly to confirm current amenities and rig-size limits.

Popular routes include Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway, Savannah's historic district, and Florida's Atlantic coast. Travel into Canada may be possible with host approval, so message the host before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not supported because RVezy protection coverage does not extend across that border. Pro tip: outline your route in the booking message so your host can flag any state-specific tolls or low-clearance roads along the way.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and budget should I expect?
