Campgrounds and RV parks near Clemson, SC

Clemson sits at the northwestern edge of South Carolina on the shore of Lake Hartwell, a large Army Corps of Engineers reservoir on the Savannah, Tugaloo and Seneca Rivers. The lake comprises nearly 56,000 acres of water with 962 miles of shoreline, and over 20,000 acres of public land surround it. That combination of shoreline, public land and a college-town base makes the area a practical hub for RV travellers heading into the upstate. Most RV parking within a short drive of downtown clusters around the lake or the Clemson University campus. Options include T. Ed Garrison Arena on the university's livestock and equestrian complex, Clemson RV Park at the Grove close to campus, and The Point RV at Lake Hartwell on the water. Anderson / Lake Hartwell KOA Holiday sits farther south near I-85, and The Shores of Asbury offers a quieter lakeside setting. The Corps itself operates 9 campgrounds, 15 major day use areas, and numerous other lake-access areas, so travellers who cannot secure a private-park site typically have federal alternatives within a short drive.

Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Lake Hartwell reserve through Recreation.gov, generally on a rolling six-month window. Sites with full water and electric hookups are common at Corps loops such as Coneross and Twin Lakes, and reservations rather than walk-in registration are the norm during the busy season. Private parks around Clemson, including Clemson RV Park at the Grove, The Point RV at Lake Hartwell, Anderson / Lake Hartwell KOA Holiday and The Shores of Asbury, book directly through the operator. For Clemson football weekends, plan to reserve as soon as the schedule is released, and confirm minimum-night requirements and check-in windows before arrival. T. Ed Garrison Arena schedules RV sites around its event calendar, so availability shifts week to week.
