Conestee Nature Preserve is the anchor attraction, with paved and unpaved trails, boardwalks over wetlands, and more than 220 recorded bird species. The National Audubon Society has designated the preserve an Important Bird Area of Global Significance, and South Carolina designated it a wildlife sanctuary in 2016. Families use the adjoining Conestee Park for playgrounds, ball fields, a disc golf course, and a large dog park. Cyclists can pick up the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail from near Conestee. For a hillier day out, Paris Mountain State Park offers miles of hiking and mountain-biking trails, four small lakes, and seasonal swimming at Lake Placid.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel in the Conestee area. March through May brings mild days, dogwood and wildflower bloom, and comfortable trail conditions, though March is typically the wettest month of the year. Fall delivers cooler nights, lower humidity, and hardwood color across Paris Mountain, typically peaking in late October and early November. Summer is hot and humid, with afternoon highs commonly in the upper 80s and frequent thunderstorms. Lake Placid's swimming area at Paris Mountain State Park is open during summer, which is also peak time for fishing in the park lakes. Expect campgrounds to fill on holiday weekends and around Greenville festival dates. Winters are cool rather than harsh, with daytime highs generally in the low 50s and frosty nights common from November into March. Measurable snow is uncommon, averaging around three inches per year. Most private RV parks in the area operate year-round, while state-park amenities such as boat rentals run on a seasonal schedule.

Private RV parks in the Conestee and greater Greenville area typically provide full hookups, level sites, laundry, and Wi-Fi, with easy access to grocery stores and restaurants in Mauldin, Simpsonville, and Greenville. Sites tend to be closer together than in state parks, and pull-throughs are common. Paris Mountain State Park runs a more traditional wooded campground. Each site has individual water and electrical hookups, and the campground is served by restrooms with hot showers. Some sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet and others up to 35 feet, so confirm length limits when booking. Campers must keep a vehicle on-site and bring appropriate camping equipment. Firewood brought into South Carolina State Parks must be sourced within the state and from less than 50 miles away, and mountain bikes are not permitted on park trails on Saturdays.
