Overview of camping near Five Forks
Five Forks is a suburban community in Greenville County, South Carolina, sitting in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains southeast of Greenville. The area works well as a base for RV travelers who want quick access to Upstate attractions without giving up grocery stores, fuel, and interstate connections. I-85 and I-385 both run within a short drive, making arrivals and departures straightforward for larger rigs.
Private RV parks close to town cover most needs for hookups and short stays. Scuffle Town Usa RV Park, GSP RV Park, Beckon Ridge RV Park, and 290 RV Park all sit within the greater Greenville-Spartanburg corridor and cater to travelers passing through or staying a few nights. Girl Scouts of South Carolina-Mountains to Midlands operates a program property in the region as well.
For state park camping, Paris Mountain State Park lies on the north side of Greenville, and Table Rock, Keowee-Toxaway, and Devils Fork State Parks sit within an hour to the west. Lake Hartwell, on the Georgia border, adds Corps of Engineers sites with full lake access.
Things to do around Five Forks
Downtown Greenville is the main draw, roughly fifteen minutes northwest. Falls Park on the Reedy sits at the center, with the Liberty Bridge, riverside walking paths, and the Swamp Rabbit Trail running through. The trail is paved and stroller-friendly, running from Greenville up to Travelers Rest.
Paris Mountain State Park offers hiking, mountain biking, and swimming at Lake Placid, and is close enough for a half-day trip. Farther west, Table Rock State Park has more strenuous summit hikes and dramatic Blue Ridge escarpment views. Lake Hartwell and Lake Keowee cover boating, fishing, and swimming beaches within an hour's drive.
Rainy-day options include the Greenville Zoo, the Upcountry History Museum, and Roper Mountain Science Center. BMW Zentrum in Greer is a short detour for anyone interested in the plant tours.

Five Forks has a humid subtropical climate. Summers are hot and muggy, with afternoon highs regularly in the upper 80s and low 90s Fahrenheit and frequent thunderstorms. RV sites with shade and reliable 50-amp service become important in July and August. Booking pressure peaks around July 4th and Labor Day weekends, plus any major event weekend in downtown Greenville.
Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel. Wildflowers on Paris Mountain and along the Blue Ridge escarpment peak in April and early May, and October brings reliable fall color in the higher elevations to the north. Nights turn cool, and daytime highs stay comfortable for hiking.
Winter is mild but variable. Freezing nights are common from December through February, and occasional ice storms can affect travel. Most private RV parks in the area stay open year-round, but state park campgrounds may reduce services and some higher-elevation sites farther north close seasonally.

This was an incredible camping experience! It was the ideal way to camp, as we had always used tents before. It was fantastic that the RV was delivered and ready to use! There was ample space for my family to enjoy the room without feeling cramped. A big storm rolled in, and it was a great place to come together and use the appliances inside to cook dinner and watch a movie as a family. I highly recommend this rental for anyone seeking a great camping stay, and for anyone who has always wanted to try out the RV experience!

How to book campgrounds near Five Forks
South Carolina State Parks use a central reservation system through the SouthCarolinaParks.com portal, with a rolling booking window that opens up to thirteen months ahead. Popular sites at Paris Mountain, Table Rock, and Devils Fork fill quickly for weekends between April and October, so lock in dates as early as possible.
For Lake Hartwell, the US Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds are booked through Recreation.gov, generally up to six months in advance. Sumter National Forest sites in the Andrew Pickens district also use Recreation.gov.
Private RV parks including Scuffle Town Usa RV Park, GSP RV Park, Beckon Ridge RV Park, and 290 RV Park handle reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Pull-through sites should be requested at booking if traveling in a longer rig.
What to expect on arrival
Private parks in the Five Forks and greater Greenville area generally offer full hookups, level pads, and Wi-Fi, though quality varies. Some are commuter-friendly stopovers close to I-85, so expect some road and highway noise at parks near the interstate corridor. State park sites tend to be more wooded and quieter, with a mix of water and electric only, so plan tank capacity accordingly.
Cell service is strong across the Greenville metro. Grocery stores, propane, and RV service shops are all easy to reach from Five Forks itself. Larger rigs should check site length before booking older parks, since some pads were built for shorter trailers.
Biting insects are active from late spring through early fall. Ticks are present in wooded areas year-round, so check after hikes.

Great news for first-time renters: a regular Class D driver's license is all you need to rent and drive almost every motorhome on RVezy in Five Forks. South Carolina only requires a special Class E or F non-commercial license if the RV's gross vehicle weight is over 26,000 pounds, and the vast majority of Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers on the platform fall well under that threshold. You also need to be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and your ID is verified securely through the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home license and you're ready to hit the road.

You can book with real peace of mind: every RV rental in Five Forks booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance. The protection plan covers most physical damage to the vehicle during your trip, so you are not on the hook for unexpected bumps or mishaps. During checkout you choose the level of coverage that fits your trip and comfort level, not the host, which keeps you in control of how much protection you want. Coverage levels and limits are clearly outlined before you confirm your booking. Pair that with the host's pickup walkthrough and you will feel ready to roll.

There is a money-back grace period right after booking, with additional refund options that depend on how far out from your trip start date you cancel. Because the same RVezy policy applies across all listings, you do not have to compare fine print between hosts. If your plans change, log in to your RVezy account and start the cancellation through your trip details, or message RVezy support directly for a quick hand. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy provides a refund or travel credit so your Upstate plans stay on track.

Once you're on the road, leashed dogs are welcome at Paris Mountain State Park (about 20 minutes north) and at most Lake Hartwell Corps of Engineers campgrounds like Springfield and Twin Lakes. Conestee Park in nearby Mauldin even has a popular off-leash dog park and boardwalk trails. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl since Upstate summer humidity can be intense for four-legged co-pilots.
southcarolinaparks.com/paris-mountainCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Five Forks?
Yes, RV delivery is one of the most popular features on RVezy and a game-changer for first-time renters in Five Forks. Many local hosts will deliver your motorhome or travel trailer directly to popular nearby spots like Springfield Campground on Lake Hartwell, Travelers Rest / N Greenville KOA Holiday, or Paris Mountain State Park, then set up the rig, level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system. Delivery fees typically run $2 to $4 per mile from the host's location, with some hosts offering flat rates to common campgrounds. To request it, message the host before booking with your destination address. It is the easiest way to enjoy your Five Forks RV trip without ever towing or driving the rig yourself.

southcarolinaparks.com/paris-mountain/campingWhen is the best time to rent an RV in Five Forks, SC?
Five Forks has one of the longest RV seasons in the country, which is part of what makes the Upstate so special. April, May, September, and October are the sweet spot: daytime highs sit in the 70s and low 80s with cool, comfortable nights and brilliant Blue Ridge fall color in mid to late October. Summer (June through August) brings highs in the upper 80s to low 90s with humidity, so look for shaded campgrounds with electric hookups for AC. Winter is mild, often in the 50s during the day, making Five Forks one of the few Southeast destinations where motorhome rental Five Forks trips work nearly year-round. Pro tip: book the second weekend of October for peak leaf-peeping along nearby Highway 11.
weather.gov/gsp/climateI've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay renting in Five Forks?
You'll do great, and Five Forks is actually a forgiving place for first time renting an RV. Your RVezy host gives a hands-on walkthrough at pickup, covering everything from leveling and propane to the awning and dump valves, and you can text them anytime during the trip. Around Five Forks, roads like Woodruff Road, I-385, and I-85 are wide and well-marked, and Greenville's grid is much easier than Atlanta or Charlotte traffic. If big-rig driving still feels intimidating, choose delivery so the host parks and sets up the RV at your campsite. Pro tip: ask your host for a quick parking-lot practice loop before you head out, most are happy to oblige.
scdot.org/travel/travel-trafficinfo.aspxWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my Five Forks trip?
You are covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you are on I-85 heading to Greenville, deep in Sumter National Forest, or up the Blue Ridge Parkway. Roadside support handles flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing to the nearest qualified service center. Your host is also a direct resource for quirks specific to that rig and is usually responsive by message. Save the RVezy support number in your phone before pickup and snap photos of the RV's VIN plate, that small step shaves minutes off any service call so you can get back to enjoying your South Carolina adventure.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trips from Five Forks, SC?
Five Forks is perfectly positioned for unforgettable RV road trips. Top routes include the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville, NC (about 1 hour 15 minutes north) through Mount Pisgah and Linville Falls; the South Carolina Highway 11 Cherokee Foothills Scenic Byway past Table Rock and Caesars Head (under an hour); the Great Smoky Mountains via Cherokee, NC (about 2.5 hours); and a coastal run to Charleston (3.5 hours) or Myrtle Beach (4.5 hours). You can also cross into Georgia for Tallulah Gorge in about 1.5 hours. Travel between US states is covered by your RVezy protection plan, but travel into Mexico is not permitted. Confirm with your host before any cross-border trip into Canada.
nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/index.htmWhat should I budget for fuel on a Five Forks RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second-biggest line item after the rental itself, but South Carolina helps your budget: the Greenville area regularly has some of the lowest gas prices in the Southeast, often $0.30 to $0.50 below the national average. Plan on 7 to 10 miles per gallon for a Class C motorhome, 6 to 8 mpg for a Class A, and 12 to 18 mpg for a tow vehicle with a travel trailer. A typical 200-mile weekend loop from Five Forks to Lake Jocassee and back costs roughly $60 to $90 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at Costco in Greenville or the QuikTrip stations along Woodruff Road for the best per-gallon savings before heading into the mountains where prices climb.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Five Forks?
Booking ahead is the single best move you can make for a smooth Five Forks RV trip. South Carolina State Park sites at Paris Mountain, Devils Fork, and Table Rock open reservations 13 months in advance through the official South Carolina State Parks reservation system, and prime summer and fall weekends often fill the day they open. Lake Hartwell Corps of Engineers campgrounds like Springfield and Twin Lakes book through Recreation.gov up to 6 months ahead. Private parks like Travelers Rest / N Greenville KOA usually have more flexibility but still sell out for festival weekends. Pro tip: for a fall color trip, set a calendar reminder to book in November of the previous year, you will thank yourself.
southcarolinaparks.com/reservationsWhat are driving conditions like around Five Forks?
Driving an RV around Five Forks is refreshingly straightforward. The Five Forks area itself is suburban Greenville County with wide roads like Woodruff Road, Batesville Road, and Scuffletown Road that easily handle larger rigs. I-85 and I-385 are your main arteries and stay flat and well-paved. Once you head west toward Lake Jocassee or north into the Blue Ridge foothills, expect steeper grades, switchbacks on SC-11, and lower clearances on some older parkway bridges, so check your RV height (usually 10 to 13 feet) before any mountain route. Summer afternoon thunderstorms roll through quickly, so plan driving for mornings. Pro tip: avoid Woodruff Road between 4 and 6 p.m. on weekdays, it's the area's biggest traffic snarl.
511sc.org/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Five Forks?
Local campgrounds make RV life easy. State parks like Paris Mountain offer 30 and 50 amp electric, water hookups, hot showers, flush toilets, and centralized dump stations. Corps of Engineers parks on Lake Hartwell (Springfield, Twin Lakes, Coneross) provide full or partial hookups, lake access, and dump stations included with your site fee. Private resorts like Travelers Rest / N Greenville KOA add full sewer hookups, Wi-Fi, pools, and laundry. For free dump stations and potable water fills along your route, the Pilot and Flying J truck stops off I-85 in Anderson and Spartanburg are reliable options. Pro tip: download the Sani Dumps app before your trip so you're never hunting for a dump station last-minute.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/904What's inside a typical RV rental in Five Forks?
You'll be impressed by how home-like a modern RV feels. Most Five Forks RV rentals sleep 4 to 8 people and come with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette, fully equipped kitchen (fridge, freezer, stovetop, microwave, sink, cookware), bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with AC and furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include TVs, Bluetooth stereos, outdoor speakers, and awnings, and a growing number offer onboard generators or solar for off-grid stays. Wi-Fi varies, so plan to use your phone hotspot when out of range. Each listing on RVezy shows photos and a full amenities checklist. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps and RV Type to find the right fit for a family RV trip Five Forks weekenders enjoy at Lake Hartwell.
fmcsa.dot.gov/regulations/title49/section/393.93What add-ons and pickup options should I know about when I rent an RV in Five Forks?
Five Forks hosts offer a great menu of add-ons to customize your trip. Popular extras include linen and towel packages ($30 to $75), kitchen kits, camp chairs and outdoor rugs, bike racks, generators, propane refills, and pre-stocked firewood. Delivery and setup at your campsite is widely available for $2 to $4 per mile. Mileage policies usually include 100 to 150 free miles per night with extra miles at $0.30 to $0.50. Pro tip: bundling delivery, linens, and a generator is the smoothest way to do a campervan rental Five Forks weekend with zero prep work.
greenvillesc.gov/485/VisitorsHow do payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Five Forks?
Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book on RVezy you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. Most hosts require a refundable security deposit, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV's size and value, placed as a hold on your card a few days before pickup and released after return assuming no damage. The security deposit is separate from your booking payment. To avoid any deposit issues, take time-stamped photos and a short video of the RV inside and out at pickup and drop-off, return it with the agreed fuel and propane levels, and empty the holding tanks if your contract requires it. Simple steps, total peace of mind.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park an RV in Five Forks for a quick overnight stop?
Knowing where to park an RV in Five Forks for a short overnight is easy with a little planning. For a true camping experience, Paris Mountain State Park (20 minutes north) and Lake Hartwell's Springfield Campground (45 minutes west) are the go-tos. For a free one-night stopover, several Walmart Supercenters in the Greenville area (including the Woodruff Road location near Five Forks) have historically allowed RV overnight parking with manager permission, just call ahead and follow the one-night, no-awning, no-grill Good Neighbor rule. Cracker Barrel locations along I-85 are also RV-friendly. Greenville city streets and most shopping centers prohibit overnight RV parking, so always confirm before settling in. Pro tip: a quick call to the store manager turns a maybe into a confident yes.
