Campgrounds and RV parks near Gantt, SC

Paris Mountain State Park is the standout day-trip. The park has an extensive trail system for hiking and mountain biking near downtown Greenville, along with Lake Placid, a designated swimming area, and a hike-in reservoir reached by a two-mile trail. Canoes, kayaks, and pedal boats are available seasonally, and a self-serve kayak kiosk operates by Lake Placid daily from 8 am to 6 pm during the season. Closer to Gantt, families use the Swamp Rabbit Trail for cycling into downtown Greenville, the Reedy River and Falls Park for a walkable afternoon, and the Greenville Zoo for younger kids. Ivy Acres RV Park has private river access to the Saluda for guests. For longer excursions, Table Rock State Park, Jones Gap, and Lake Jocassee sit within about an hour, with waterfalls and mountain hikes.

Spring and fall are the strongest camping windows around Greenville. Daytime temperatures stay comfortable, humidity is lower than in midsummer, and weekend sites at Paris Mountain and nearby private parks tend to book well ahead. Reservations for prime state-park weekends often need to be locked in weeks or months in advance. Summer brings heat, humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms. The Upstate has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers, and afternoon storms are common in the warmer months. Swimming at Paris Mountain and lake recreation are at their peak, but state-park sites fill early and shade matters when choosing a spot. Winter is mild by North American standards but not warm. Overnight lows in the Piedmont often drop to around freezing, and annual snowfall in the Greenville area typically ranges from about 2 to 5 inches, with occasional totals reaching 8 inches or more. Private RV parks in the area generally stay open year round, and the Paris Mountain campground also operates year round, though the swim area and boat rentals close outside of the warm months.

Sites near Gantt trend suburban and wooded rather than remote. Ivy Acres RV Park in Piedmont is a 45-plus adult community set on 77 acres with open pastural views, more than three miles of wooded walking trails, private Saluda River access, full hook-ups with 20/30/50 amp service at every site, and big-rig-friendly pull-thru sites. It sits about 10 minutes from downtown Greenville, but has no on-site showers, restrooms, or laundry. Springwood RV Park works for shorter Greenville-based stays. At Paris Mountain State Park, expect paved pads and a mix of sizes. There are 39 paved campsites, 13 with tent pads, all with water and electrical hookups and close to bathhouses with hot showers. Mountain bikes are not allowed in the park or on its trails on Saturdays. Black bears, deer, and raccoons are all present in the wider Upstate, so store food and trash securely.
