Campgrounds and RV parks near Graniteville, SC

Aiken State Park is the outdoor anchor for the area. Located along the free-flowing Edisto River, the park features a unique combination of river swamps and dry sandhills. Visitors can enjoy fishing in one of the four park ponds, paddling along the scenic river or exploring nature trails perfect for birding and hiking. The 3-mile loop, Jungle Trail, is a great hike. Canoe and kayak rentals are available, but reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance through the park office. In downtown Aiken, Hitchcock Woods is a standout urban forest with miles of sandy trails open to walkers, runners, and equestrians, with motorized vehicles and bicycles not allowed. Families can also visit the Aiken County Historical Museum, watch polo matches in season, or make the short drive to Augusta for the Riverwalk and Savannah Rapids Park.

Spring is the marquee season. Mild temperatures, blooming dogwoods, and the equestrian calendar drive strong demand in Aiken, with the Aiken Triple Crown running in March and the Masters Tournament in Augusta drawing heavy RV traffic in early April. Book private RV parks in the Aiken corridor well in advance for those weeks, when nightly availability tightens across the region. Summer brings heat, humidity, and frequent afternoon thunderstorms. State park ponds and the Edisto River paddling trail draw families, but shaded sites and full-hookup electrical service are worth prioritizing for air conditioning. Fall offers the most stable weather, cooler nights, and lower bug pressure, making it a strong shoulder season for longer stays. Winters are short and cool rather than harsh. Most Aiken-area private parks operate year-round and see an influx of snowbirds, while Aiken State Park stays open with reduced amenities. From fall through early spring, the Aiken Hounds hunt in Hitchcock Woods, adding seasonal color to trail visits.

Expect a mix of shaded, sandy sites in the state park and open, gravel or paved pads at the private parks. At Aiken State Park, each site consists of packed sand and has individual water and 30 and 50 amp electrical hookups. Campsites 20 to 25 also include sewer hookup. Some sites accommodate RVs up to 35 feet. The campground is convenient to restrooms with hot showers. Five full hook-up sites are available, and larger rigs should confirm site length in advance. Cell service is generally reliable near Aiken and along I-20 but can be spotty inside the state park. Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet. Grocery stores, propane, and dump stations are easy to find in Aiken and North Augusta.
