Campgrounds near Gray Court
Gray Court sits in Laurens County in South Carolina's Upstate, roughly halfway between Greenville and Clinton along I-385. The town is a practical base for RV travelers exploring the Piedmont, with access to Lake Greenwood, the Enoree River corridor, and day trips into the Blue Ridge foothills. Elevation runs near 800 feet, so nights stay cooler than the coastal plain but the area avoids true mountain cold.
Private RV parks handle most overnight demand close to town. Pine Ridge Campground is one of the closer full-service options, and Fireside RV Park, Scuffle Town Usa RV Park, and Beckon Ridge RV Park round out the immediate cluster with hookup sites suited to standard rental rigs. The Girl Scouts of South Carolina Mountains to Midlands property nearby is a private group facility rather than a public campground.
For state-park camping, travelers typically drive south to Lake Greenwood State Park or east to Sumter National Forest sites, both within about an hour of Gray Court.
Things to do near Gray Court
Water recreation anchors most trips. Lake Greenwood State Park offers lakefront sites with water and electric hookups, fishing piers, and shaded picnic areas, and Musgrove Mill State Historic Site nearby has a day-use area along the Enoree River. Both are reachable as day trips from Gray Court campgrounds.
Popular drives include Greenville and Paris Mountain State Park about 45 minutes away, Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway roughly two hours out, and Great Smoky Mountains gateway towns about three hours north. Closer in, downtown Greenville's Falls Park on the Reedy and the Swamp Rabbit Trail are the most common family stops.
Highway 11, the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway, is a scenic alternative to I-85 heading northwest and passes several state parks with hiking and waterfall access.

The Upstate has one of the longer RV seasons in the country thanks to a mild climate, with the sweet spots running April through early June and September through early November. Spring brings blooming dogwoods and comfortable highs in the 70s and low 80s. Fall delivers crisp mornings and lower humidity, which is why weekends near Lake Greenwood book out early.
Summers are hot and humid with average highs near 90 degrees Fahrenheit, winters are usually mild with average lows in the mid-30s, and rainfall is scattered through the year with a peak in summer. The area occasionally sees thunderstorms, tornadoes, hail, and flooding. Afternoon pop-up storms are the norm from June through August, so travelers should plan outdoor activities for mornings.
Winter camping is viable at most private parks in the area, which typically stay open year-round, though state-park bathhouses and pools may operate on reduced schedules.

Everything was Awesome, enjoyed working with The love birds. I would recommend anyone to use them. This was my first rv rental. Everything was explained to me how to work it. If I had any questions they were there to walk me through it.

Only problem we had was some little black ants - but I think that was as much to do with the rain as anything. Great communication and responsiveness. Would rent from them again if back in the area.

Booking a campsite near Gray Court
South Carolina State Parks open reservations 13 months in advance, and Lake Greenwood's lakefront loops fill fast for summer weekends, so book early at SouthCarolinaParks.com. Holiday weekends around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day are the tightest windows.
Private parks in the immediate Gray Court area, including Fireside RV Park, Scuffle Town Usa RV Park, Pine Ridge Campground, and Beckon Ridge RV Park, generally take direct online or phone bookings and have more flexibility for last-minute stays than the state system. For reservable Sumter National Forest sites, use Recreation.gov, which typically opens a six-month rolling window.
RV renters should confirm site length, hookup type (20/30/50 amp), and whether a park allows pets and campfires before locking in dates.
What to expect
Camping near Gray Court ranges from primitive forest service locations to full-service parks with lakefront access, with the region sitting at elevations between 500 and 800 feet in the Piedmont, and summer nighttime temperatures typically staying above 65 degrees even when daytime highs exceed 90. That means evenings outside the RV are usually comfortable in shoulder seasons and warm in midsummer.
Cell service is generally reliable along the I-385 and I-26 corridors but drops in wooded state-park loops and along the Enoree River. Grocery and propane runs are easiest in Laurens, Clinton, or Fountain Inn.
Biting insects, chiggers, and ticks are active from late spring through early fall. Bring repellent, and check for ticks after any hike in tall grass or brush.
