Campgrounds near Homeland Park
Homeland Park sits just south of Anderson, South Carolina, minutes from the shoreline of Hartwell Lake, a large Savannah River reservoir with 56,000 acres of water surface. The lake anchors the area's RV scene, with campgrounds run by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Carolina State Parks, and private operators.
Within a short drive, RV travelers can choose from Tiger Cove Campground, The Shores of Asbury, Anderson / Lake Hartwell KOA Holiday, Sadlers Creek State Park, and Big Water Marina & Campground. Options range from full-hookup private resorts to lakefront state-park loops. Sadlers Creek State Park sits on 395 acres on a peninsula that extends into Lake Hartwell, one of the Savannah River reservoirs.
The location works well for trips that combine lake time with quick access to Anderson, Clemson, and the Blue Ridge foothills, and it puts campers close to boat ramps, fishing coves, and day-use areas around the lake.
Things to do near Homeland Park
Lake Hartwell drives most itineraries. Campgrounds around the lake range from tent sites near the shoreline to RV sites with electric and water hookups, and boat ramps at Sadlers Creek State Park and Big Water Marina & Campground make launching easy. Fishing for largemouth and striped bass, swimming, pontoon outings, and paddling fill most days on the water.
On land, visitors can hike the trails and ride the loop bike path at Sadlers Creek State Park, cast from its 100-foot fishing pier, or head into Anderson for shops and restaurants. Clemson University and its game-day atmosphere are a short drive north, and the Blue Ridge foothills offer waterfalls and scenic drives within an hour.

Peak demand runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when lakefront loops at Sadlers Creek State Park and the Corps of Engineers campgrounds fill quickly on weekends and holidays.
Spring and early fall are the sweet spot for RV travelers: mild temperatures, active fishing, and easier reservations. July is typically the warmest month, with average highs near 91°F, while January is usually the coolest, with average highs near 50°F. Mid-March through May and mid-September through October generally offer the most comfortable conditions for camping and paddling.
Winter stays are viable for self-contained rigs. Daytime temperatures usually stay above freezing, though nights can dip into the 30s, and some private amenities such as waterfront grills and inflatable water features close for the season.
How to book near Homeland Park
South Carolina State Parks handle Sadlers Creek reservations centrally through the state park reservation system. Reservations may be made up to 13 months in advance, and the minimum age for reserving a site is 18, with the reserving adult required to occupy the site. Campers are allowed either one trailer or RV and one tent, or two tents per site, with a maximum of two passenger vehicles per site.
Corps of Engineers sites at Hartwell Lake are booked through Recreation.gov, typically on a six-month rolling window. Private parks such as Anderson / Lake Hartwell KOA Holiday, The Shores of Asbury, Tiger Cove Campground, and Big Water Marina & Campground book directly through their own websites. Summer weekends and holidays should be reserved several months in advance.
What to expect on-site
Expect a mix of paved and gravel pads with water and electric hookups; full sewer is less common at public parks. At Sadlers Creek State Park, 52 sites are packed gravel with individual water and electrical hookups, and some sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet. Private resorts tend to offer full hookups, longer pull-throughs, and 50-amp service.
Amenities vary by park. Sadlers Creek offers picnic shelters, two boat ramps, a 100-foot fishing pier, a multi-mile loop trail used by hikers and mountain bikers, and a lakeside pavilion available for gatherings. Pets are welcome in most outdoor areas on a leash of six feet or less. Firewood should be sourced locally, since South Carolina State Parks require firewood to come from within the state and from less than 50 miles away to prevent pest spread.

South Carolina only requires a special Class E or Class F non-commercial license if you're driving a recreational vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 pounds, and the vast majority of Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers fall well below that threshold. You're going to feel like a pro by the end of pickup. You can freely cross into Georgia (the state line sits just across Lake Hartwell, about 15 minutes west) and into North Carolina (under an hour to the Blue Ridge Mountains) on virtually every RVezy rental. Most hosts also welcome longer interstate trips up to Tennessee, Virginia, and Florida, just confirm with your host through the listing before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage stops at the border. Popular cross-state runs include Homeland Park to Asheville (90 miles) and Homeland Park to Helen, Georgia (105 miles). Gas up before crossing into Georgia, since South Carolina fuel is usually a few cents cheaper.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting fuel is easier than you'd think. Class B campervans typically get 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, Class A rigs run 6 to 10 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 MPG combined). Gas prices around Anderson County tend to run a bit below the national average, with stations along Clemson Boulevard and US-29 near Homeland Park being the most convenient fill-ups. For a typical weekend round trip to Asheville and back (about 180 miles), expect to spend roughly $50 to $90 in fuel on a Class C. Pro tip: use the GasBuddy app to find the cheapest pumps along I-85 before you launch.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Homeland Park?
The earlier the better, but you have more flexibility than you might think. South Carolina State Parks like Lake Hartwell and Sadlers Creek open reservations up to 13 months in advance through SouthCarolinaParks.com, and waterfront sites for summer weekends and Clemson University football Saturdays typically fill 3 to 6 months ahead. US Army Corps of Engineers sites like Springfield and Twin Lakes book through Recreation.gov on a 6-month rolling window. KOA and private parks (Anderson/Lake Hartwell KOA, Springwood RV Park) usually have availability 2 to 4 weeks out. Pro tip: weekday arrivals (Monday or Tuesday) almost always have last-minute openings, even in peak summer, perfect for a spontaneous Lake Hartwell escape.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/2742What are local driving conditions like around Homeland Park?
Driving here is friendly for RVs of every size. Homeland Park sits just south of Anderson with easy access to Interstate 85, US-29, and SC-187, all wide, well-maintained roads with gentle terrain, much easier than mountain driving up near Asheville. Traffic is light most of the year, though Clemson University home football Saturdays in the fall bring heavy congestion on US-76 and I-85 around Exit 19. Watch for occasional deer along rural stretches near Sadlers Creek, especially at dawn and dusk, and summer afternoon thunderstorms that can drop visibility quickly. Avoid downtown Anderson's narrow Main Street with anything over 25 feet and take the SC-28 bypass instead.

Payment is simple, secure, and handled entirely through RVezy, with no cash or side deals with the host. You pay the rental total (nightly rate, taxes, fees, and any add-ons) at booking by credit card. Hosts also set a refundable security deposit, which is held (not charged) before your trip and released after the host confirms the RV is returned clean, on time, and undamaged. To avoid issues, take photos at pickup and drop-off, return with the same fuel and propane levels, and follow the mileage and generator-use policies on the listing. Dump the tanks at Sadlers Creek State Park's dump station before returning, since many hosts charge a fee for full tanks.
