Campgrounds near Inman Mills, South Carolina
Inman Mills sits in Spartanburg County in the northwestern Upstate of South Carolina, close to Interstate 26 and Interstate 85 and roughly ten miles north of downtown Spartanburg. The area works as a practical base for RV travelers heading into the Blue Ridge foothills, moving between Greenville, Asheville, and Charlotte, or stopping over on a longer southeast route.
Private RV parks dominate the immediate area. Cunningham RV Park and Whispering Winds RV Park sit closest to Inman Mills, followed by 290 RV Park along Highway 290 toward Duncan. Beckon Ridge RV Park and GSP RV Park are convenient for travelers coming off I-85 near the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport corridor. Most of these parks focus on full-hookup pads for standard rigs rather than resort amenities.
For a state-park experience, Croft State Park covers more than 7,000 acres of rolling, wooded terrain just a few miles from downtown Spartanburg. It offers two campground loops with water and electric hookups and is the nearest public campground with a full reservation system, a common overflow option when private parks fill up.
Things to do near Inman Mills
Croft State Park is the main outdoor draw within a short drive. The park offers over 20 miles of biking and hiking trails, a playground, picnicking and camping, as well as fishing and boating in one of two lakes, and more than 20 miles of equestrian trails. Fishing and boating are available on 165-acre Lake Craig (electric motors only), with boat rentals on site.
Beyond the park, the Blue Ridge foothills sit within an hour's drive. Table Rock State Park, Paris Mountain State Park, and Jones Gap offer harder hikes and waterfalls, and Lake Bowen and Lake Blalock give closer options for boating and shoreline fishing. Downtown Spartanburg has restaurants, breweries, and the Hub City farmers market, and the BMW Zentrum museum in Greer is a short detour off I-85. For rainy days, Greenville's Falls Park on the Reedy and the Swamp Rabbit Trail are within about 40 minutes.

The city of Spartanburg has a humid subtropical climate with long, hot, and humid summers, and cool to semi-mild winters, so timing matters for an RV trip. Spring and fall bring the most comfortable temperatures for camping, hiking, and biking, with mild days, cool nights, and lower humidity than midsummer. These shoulder seasons also line up with peak trail conditions at Croft State Park and the surrounding foothills.
In the summer from June through September, average highs are in the 80s to low 90s Fahrenheit, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Lake time, shaded sites, and full-hookup pads with working air conditioning become priorities. Tropical remnants can push heavy rain into the region from late summer into early fall.
Winters are cool rather than harsh. Winter average highs are in the mid-50s Fahrenheit, and total annual snowfall in the Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson areas ranges from 2 to 5 inches. Private RV parks generally stay open year-round, while state park loops occasionally close for maintenance.

This was an incredible camping experience! It was the ideal way to camp, as we had always used tents before. It was fantastic that the RV was delivered and ready to use! There was ample space for my family to enjoy the room without feeling cramped. A big storm rolled in, and it was a great place to come together and use the appliances inside to cook dinner and watch a movie as a family. I highly recommend this rental for anyone seeking a great camping stay, and for anyone who has always wanted to try out the RV experience!

How to book campgrounds near Inman Mills
Private parks in the Inman and Spartanburg area, including Cunningham RV Park, Whispering Winds RV Park, 290 RV Park, Beckon Ridge RV Park, and GSP RV Park, are typically booked directly through the park by phone or website. Availability tightens on race weekends, BMW Performance Center events, and holiday weekends, so booking a few weeks out is a safer bet in peak season.
Croft State Park camping reservations can be made through the South Carolina State Parks reservation system by calling 1-866-345-PARK or online. The reservation system allows spots to be reserved up to 13 months in advance. Minimum length of stay is 2 nights for advance reservations, maximum length of stay is 14 nights, and after reaching the maximum campers must vacate the park for 7 days. Cancellations made 15 or more days from reservation date incur no charges; cancellations made 4 to 14 days out forfeit a per-unit fee, and cancellations made 3 days or less forfeit all funds.
What to expect on the ground
Most private RV parks in the Inman Mills area are working parks with a mix of nightly, monthly, and long-term guests. Expect gravel or paved pads, full hookups on many sites, laundry, and simple bathhouses rather than resort-style pools and activity programs. Sites can be tight for larger fifth wheels and Class A rigs, so confirming length and slide clearance when booking is worth the call.
Croft State Park offers a more traditional camping feel. Each site is packed gravel and has water and electrical hookups, some sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, twenty-five of the campsites offer 50 amp service, and the campgrounds are convenient to restrooms with hot showers. Cell coverage is generally solid along the I-85 and I-26 corridors and adequate at Croft, though tree cover can weaken signal at some loops.
