Campgrounds and RV parks near Lake Secession, SC

Lake Secession is a reservoir in Abbeville County, South Carolina, created by damming the Rocky River. The lake is owned and managed by the City of Abbeville, with a public boat ramp and limited fishing access, so most overnight RV camping is at nearby state and county parks rather than on the lake shore itself. The area sits just upstream of Lake Richard B. Russell, which places RV travellers within easy reach of larger public campgrounds on the Savannah River chain of lakes. The closest developed option is Calhoun Falls State Park on Lake Russell, followed by Richard B Russell State Park across the Georgia line. Big Water Marina & Campground offers a private lakeside alternative in the same corridor. Bobby Brown Park sits further south on Clarks Hill Lake, and Sadlers Creek State Park is the nearest campground on Lake Hartwell to the north. Together these parks give RV travellers a mix of full and partial hookups, tent areas, and boat access within roughly an hour of Lake Secession.

South Carolina State Parks use a single reservation system. Reservations may be made up to 13 months in advance, and any booking requested less than one day before check-in must be made directly through the park. Campsite reservations are typically accepted for a two-night minimum, and this applies at both Calhoun Falls State Park and Sadlers Creek State Park. Richard B Russell State Park is a Georgia State Park and takes reservations through ReserveAmerica, with the campground open year-round. Bobby Brown Park is operated by Elbert County, Georgia, not the state. Reservations may be made 11 months in advance by calling the park office or booking online, and specific sites can be reserved in advance. Big Water Marina & Campground takes bookings directly through the marina.
