Hartwell Lake comprises nearly 56,000 acres of water with a shoreline of 962 miles, and over 20,000 acres of public land surround the reservoir. That footprint drives most RV trips to the area, with campgrounds strung along coves on both the South Carolina and Georgia sides of the lake. The Shores of Asbury and Tiger Cove Campground sit directly on Lake Hartwell, while Anderson / Lake Hartwell KOA Holiday offers a more amenity-heavy stop near I-85. Clemson RV Park at the Grove is in Pendleton in Anderson County, a short distance from Clemson University, with full hookups on level sites suited to larger RVs. Equestrian and event travelers also use T. Ed Garrison Arena, a Clemson University facility with on-site RV hookups tied to shows, rodeos, and Clemson football weekends.

Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Hartwell Lake, including Tiger Cove Campground, are reserved through Recreation.gov. Most federal sites use a rolling 6-month booking window that opens daily at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time, so peak-season dates should be targeted the morning they release. South Carolina State Parks handle their own system. Reservations may be made up to 13 months in advance, requests less than one day before check-in must be made directly through the park, and check-in is 2:00 p.m. with check-out at 12:00 p.m. Campsite reservations require a two-night minimum. Private parks, including Anderson / Lake Hartwell KOA Holiday, The Shores of Asbury, and Clemson RV Park at the Grove, book through their own websites or partner platforms. T. Ed Garrison Arena RV sites are tied to arena events and Clemson football, with availability handled through the venue.
