Campgrounds near Six Mile, South Carolina
Six Mile sits in Pickens County in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, within a short drive of Lake Keowee, Lake Jocassee, and Lake Hartwell. The town works well as a base for RV renters who want mountain scenery, big lakes, and access to the Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Highway (S.C. 11).
The closest state park campground is Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area, which offers 10 partial-hookup RV sites with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Jocassee Gorges, and Lake Keowee, plus additional tent and backcountry sites. A short drive north, Devils Fork State Park provides the only public access to Lake Jocassee, a largely undeveloped 7,500-acre reservoir tucked deep into the Blue Ridge, with a 59-site lakeside campground offering water and electric hookups.
Closer to Clemson, private and university-run options round out the mix. Creekside Campground at Table Rock sits near the Table Rock State Park boundary in Pickens, Clemson RV Park at the Grove offers full-hookup sites in Pendleton, and T. Ed Garrison Arena provides RV camping tied to Clemson University's livestock and events facility.
Things to do near Six Mile
Water is the main draw. Lake Keowee and Lake Jocassee both support swimming, paddling, and fishing, and Lake Jocassee is a strong destination for kayaking or renting a pontoon boat to reach waterfalls only accessible by water. Anglers on Lake Keowee catch bass, crappie, bream, and catfish, and boat ramps are available at both Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area and Devils Fork State Park.
Hiking options range from short nature loops to strenuous mountain climbs. Keowee-Toxaway's Raven Rock Trail is a strenuous 4.1-mile route through the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the shorter Natural Bridge Nature Trail is a 1.5-mile loop that shares the same trailhead. The Foothills Trail passes through the Jocassee Gorges region and links several waterfalls and mountain overlooks.
Families visiting during the school year often build a trip around Clemson University athletics, Historic Pendleton, or the Fants Grove trail system used by mountain bikers and equestrians.

Spring is the most popular season for a first visit. Nature enthusiasts often time their trip for mid-March to early April, when the rare Oconee Bell wildflower blooms along the Oconee Bell Nature Trail at Devils Fork State Park. Waterfalls run high, temperatures stay comfortable, and campgrounds fill quickly on weekends.
Summer brings hot, humid weather and heavy demand on lakefront sites. Campsites can book up fast, especially lakefront sites, and over summer or holiday weekends, so booking a minimum of three months in advance is advisable. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, so morning paddling is often the most comfortable window.
Fall pairs mild days with foliage color across the Blue Ridge foothills, and Clemson home-football Saturdays drive extra RV traffic to Pendleton and the T. Ed Garrison Arena area. Winter is the quietest stretch. Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area is open year-round for camping, though some services and office hours are reduced and nights can drop below freezing.

Great RV! Super clean. Prompt delivery and pick up! Jonathan is a great host!

This was an incredible camping experience! It was the ideal way to camp, as we had always used tents before. It was fantastic that the RV was delivered and ready to use! There was ample space for my family to enjoy the room without feeling cramped. A big storm rolled in, and it was a great place to come together and use the appliances inside to cook dinner and watch a movie as a family. I highly recommend this rental for anyone seeking a great camping stay, and for anyone who has always wanted to try out the RV experience!

How to book campgrounds near Six Mile
South Carolina State Parks share one reservation system covering Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area and Devils Fork State Park. Reservations may be made up to 13 months in advance, and reservations requested less than one day in advance of check-in must be made directly through the park. Camping reservations require a minimum two-night stay, with longer minimums possible during holidays and busier periods.
Cancellations follow a tiered schedule. Cancellations made 30 or more days before arrival incur a small per-unit administration charge, cancellations 15 to 29 days in advance incur a charge equal to the first night's stay, and cancellations 14 days or less in advance forfeit all funds with no refund.
Private options book separately. Clemson RV Park at the Grove and Creekside Campground at Table Rock accept reservations directly through their operators, and T. Ed Garrison Arena offers full-service RV sites on the Clemson University grounds that are also used for football tailgating and equestrian events, based on availability.
What to expect on-site
Sites at the state parks tend to be paved, wooded, and near restrooms with hot showers. At Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area, ten paved sites have individual water and 50-amp electrical hookups and can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet total vehicle length, and larger units will have difficulty navigating the campground road. At Devils Fork State Park, the main lakeside campground features 59 paved sites with water and electrical hookups, and some sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet.
Creekside Campground at Table Rock sits adjacent to the state park with easier access than the tighter, rockier loops inside the park itself. For full hookups and easier access with a large trailer, Clemson RV Park at the Grove offers spacious, level sites with water, sewer, and both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical connections. Cell service is patchy in the mountain parks, so download maps before arrival.

pickenscountysc.gov/187/Mile-Creek-County-ParkDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Six Mile, SC?
For almost every RV rental in Six Mile, SC, your regular driver's license is all you need. South Carolina only requires a Class E or Class F non-commercial license when the motorhome (or combination) exceeds a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 26,000 pounds, and nearly all travel trailers, campervans, and Class C motorhomes on RVezy fall well below that. You'll need to be at least 25 years old with a valid license, and ID confirmation happens right inside the platform during booking. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple it is to be road-ready for Lake Keowee in under an hour.
dmv.sc.gov/driver-services/drivers-license/non-commercial-license---classes-e-fWhat protection is included when I rent an RV in Six Mile?
Every RV rental in Six Mile, SC booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built in, so you're covered from the moment you pull out of the driveway. The protection plan helps cover damage to the RV during your trip, giving you real financial peace of mind even if a stray branch on Highway 133 nicks the awning. You choose your coverage level during checkout (not the host), so you can pick what feels right for a quick Lake Keowee weekend or a longer Blue Ridge loop. Roadside assistance is included with every protection plan, so help is always one call away.

Booking is genuinely low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and every reservation includes a short grace period after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund. After that window, refund amounts depend on how far out from your trip start date you cancel. You'll see the exact terms during checkout and inside your RVezy account, so there are no surprises. Go ahead and lock in that Lake Keowee weekend with confidence: if life throws a curveball, you'll know exactly where you stand.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Six Mile?
Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental in Six Mile is easy to find. On RVezy, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see hosts who welcome dogs (some even welcome cats and small pets). Lake Keowee is dog heaven: Keowee-Toxaway State Park allows leashed pets on trails like Raven Rock and Natural Bridge, and Mile Creek County Park has shoreline strolls your dog will love. Bring a 6-foot leash (required at SC State Parks), waste bags, and a collapsible water bowl since summer pavement at the boat ramps gets warm. Pro tip: message the host to confirm pet fees and any breed notes before you book.
southcarolinaparks.com/keowee-toxawayCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Six Mile?
Yes, RV delivery in Six Mile is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you're new to RVing. Many RVezy hosts in the Upstate will deliver and set up your rental right at your campsite, lake house, or driveway, then walk you through every system before they leave. Popular drop-off spots include Mile Creek County Park, Keowee-Toxaway State Park, and private lakefront lots around Lake Keowee. Just filter for Delivery on the listing page and message the host with your destination address. Pro tip: delivery is gold for first-timers because you skip the towing learning curve and dive straight into lake time.

If you're planning a bigger loop, message the host to confirm the best mileage package for your route.
scdot.org/travel/travel-mileagemap.aspxWhere are the best campgrounds near Six Mile, SC?
You're spoiled for choice for RV camping in Six Mile. Mile Creek County Park, just minutes from town off Highway 133, offers lakefront sites with water and 30/50-amp power on Lake Keowee plus dump stations. Keowee-Toxaway State Park has RV sites with water and electric hookups and incredible Blue Ridge views. Devils Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee (about 25 minutes away) is the gateway to the area's famous waterfalls. South Cove County Park near Seneca offers sites on Lake Keowee's western shore. Pro tip: reserve lakefront sites early, they fill up fast on summer weekends.
southcarolinaparks.com/keowee-toxawayWhen is the best time to visit Six Mile, SC in an RV?
Honestly, three of four seasons are fantastic here. April through early June brings 70 to 82 degree days, blooming dogwoods, and comfortable nights perfect for campfires. September and October are arguably the sweet spot, with mid-70s days, low humidity, and brilliant fall color rolling down from the Blue Ridge into Lake Keowee by mid-October. July and August are warm and humid (highs near 90 degrees), but the lake makes it bearable and even fun. Winters are mild, averaging 35 to 55 degrees, so an RV trip in Six Mile in December or January is doable if your rental has good heat. Lake Keowee stays open year-round.
weather.gov/gsp/climateI've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?
You'll be in great shape, even if this is your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host gives you a full orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water systems, propane, and dump procedure step by step. You can also message your host before booking with any questions, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every trip. Six Mile is a beginner-friendly base: roads like Highway 133 and Highway 183 are wide and lightly trafficked, and Mile Creek County Park's paved pads make parking simple. Pro tip: pick a Class C motorhome or smaller travel trailer for your first trip, they drive much more like a large van than a bus.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if something breaks down during my trip?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so whether it's a flat tire on Highway 11 (the scenic Cherokee Foothills route) or a generator that won't start at Devils Fork, help is one phone call away. Your host is also your first resource for quirks specific to their RV, and they're usually quick to respond by message. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip too. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone before you leave the driveway and snap a photo of your hookup setup at the campsite, it makes any troubleshooting call faster.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Six Mile RV rental across state lines?
Yes, interstate travel is totally fine and one of the best parts of an RV road trip from Six Mile. North Carolina is about 30 minutes north (Brevard, Pisgah National Forest), Georgia is roughly an hour southwest (Tallulah Gorge, north Georgia mountains), and Tennessee is around 2.5 hours via the Great Smoky Mountains. Just be aware that travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Travel into Canada may be possible but requires host approval in advance, so message before booking. Pro tip: the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance near Asheville is one of the most scenic RV drives in America, and it's an easy day trip from Six Mile.
nps.gov/blri/index.htmHow much will fuel cost on my Six Mile RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second biggest line item after the rental itself, but it's manageable. Expect a Class C motorhome to get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), a travel trailer pulled by a truck around 10 to 14 MPG, and a campervan 16 to 20 MPG. South Carolina gas prices typically run below the national average, often 20 to 40 cents per gallon cheaper than nearby North Carolina or Georgia, so fill up before crossing state lines. The closest fuel stops to Six Mile are along Highway 133 in town and at the Highway 123 corridor through Clemson. Budget around $0.30 to $0.50 per mile for fuel as a planning rule of thumb.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Six Mile?
For peak weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day, plus October leaf-peeping), book 4 to 6 months ahead, especially for lakefront sites. Keowee-Toxaway and Devils Fork State Parks use the South Carolina State Parks reservation system and open bookings up to 13 months in advance. Mile Creek County Park reservations are handled through Pickens County, and the best lakefront pads typically book up first. For shoulder-season trips in April, May, or late September, 4 to 8 weeks ahead is usually enough. Pro tip: midweek nights are far easier to grab and often cheaper, so consider a Sunday to Thursday stay if your schedule allows.
southcarolinaparks.com/reservationsWhat are the driving conditions like around Six Mile?
Driving an RV around Six Mile is refreshingly relaxed compared to most destinations. The main routes (Highway 133, Highway 183, and Highway 11) are two-lane roads with wide shoulders, gentle curves, and minimal traffic outside summer weekends. You'll encounter some rolling hills as you approach the Blue Ridge foothills, so take it slow on grades and use lower gears descending toward the lake. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk, and be mindful of bridge clearances if you head into downtown Greenville. Pro tip: if you're nervous about driving, pick a Six Mile RV rental with delivery and skip the highway miles entirely.
scdot.org/travel/travel-trafficcameras.aspxWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Six Mile?

Mile Creek County Park offers 69 sites with water and 30/50-amp electric, three heated bathhouses with hot showers, two dump stations, paved boat ramps, and a small park store with firewood. Most local parks do not offer full sewer hookups at the site, so plan on using the dump station before departure. Potable water fill stations are available at both parks. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking water hose and a basic surge protector, they'll cover you at every campground in Pickens County.
pickenscountysc.gov/187/Mile-Creek-County-ParkWhat's inside a typical RV rental in Six Mile?

Air conditioning and furnace are standard, and many rigs include a generator, outdoor speakers, and an awning for shaded lakeside lounging. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes often have a TV and sometimes WiFi or a cell booster. Each listing details exactly what's included, including seatbelt counts. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Six%20Mile%2C%20South%20CarolinaWhat add-ons and options can I get with my Six Mile RV rental?
RVezy hosts in the Upstate offer all kinds of helpful add-ons to make your trip smoother. Common options include camping kits (chairs, table, outdoor rug) for around $25 to $75, kitchen kits with pots, pans, and utensils for $30 to $75, bedding and towel packages for $25 to $50 per bed, generators for $20 to $40 per day, and bike racks. Delivery fees are typically based on mileage from the host's location, often $2 to $4 per mile. Pickup and dropoff times are flexible, just coordinate directly with your host through the message system.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Six%20Mile%2C%20South%20CarolinaHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at the time of booking using a credit or debit card, no cash exchange with the host at pickup. A security deposit is held separately on your card around the start of your trip, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV, and it's released after return assuming no damage or extra cleaning. Returning the RV on time, with the right fuel level, and the holding tanks emptied is the easiest way to get your full deposit back. Pro tip: snap a quick video walkaround of the RV at pickup and return, it's the smartest five minutes you'll spend on your whole trip.
