Campgrounds near Wade Hampton
Wade Hampton is a census-designated place in Greenville County, South Carolina, sitting between the city of Greenville and the community of Taylors along U.S. Route 29. That corridor, known locally as Wade Hampton Boulevard, runs southwest into downtown Greenville and northeast toward Greer, putting RV travelers within a short drive of Upstate South Carolina's best-known camping options.
The closest developed campground is Paris Mountain State Park, a 1,540-acre state park located about five miles north of Greenville with hiking, biking, swimming, and picnicking. Private RV parks fill out the rest of the map, including Springwood RV Park south of downtown Greenville and GSP RV Park in Greer near the airport.
For groups, Girl Scouts of South Carolina–Mountains to Midlands operates camp property in the region, and Scuffle Town Usa RV Park in Simpsonville offers full hookups south of Wade Hampton. Together these five options cover state-park camping, urban RV parks, and quieter roadside stops within a 30-minute drive.
Things to do near Wade Hampton
Paris Mountain anchors most outdoor plans. The park contains 17 miles of hiking and biking trails and four lakes: Lake Placid, Mountain Lake, Buckhorn Lake, and North Lake. The 13-acre Lake Placid offers swimming and fishing, and canoes, kayaks, and pedal boats are seasonally available for rental, while private boats are not permitted. Mountain bikes are not allowed on trails on Saturdays, so plan bike days for Sunday through Friday.
Off-site, downtown Greenville sits a short drive from Wade Hampton, with Falls Park on the Reedy, restaurants, and the Swamp Rabbit Trail. RV travelers based at Springwood RV Park or GSP RV Park can reach Table Rock, Caesars Head, and the Blue Ridge escarpment for day trips into the mountains.

Upstate South Carolina has a long camping season. The humid subtropical climate keeps most private RV parks accessible year-round, and spring and fall bring the most comfortable conditions for tent and RV travel.
Spring is the sweet spot for families. April and May bring warm days, cool nights, and blooming dogwoods and azaleas across the Piedmont. Summer stays hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common and lake swimming at Paris Mountain becoming the main draw. Summer is the peak time for fishing and swimming in the park lakes, and campsites at Paris Mountain fill up on weekends.
Fall foliage pulls campers back to the mountains in October, and Paris Mountain books out fast for peak color weekends, so reserve early. Winter camping is possible at the private RV parks, though freezing nights are common. Greenville typically sees several dozen frosty nights each year, with freezing temperatures possible from November into early April, so cold-weather gear and heated water hoses are wise for winter stays.

This was an incredible camping experience! It was the ideal way to camp, as we had always used tents before. It was fantastic that the RV was delivered and ready to use! There was ample space for my family to enjoy the room without feeling cramped. A big storm rolled in, and it was a great place to come together and use the appliances inside to cook dinner and watch a movie as a family. I highly recommend this rental for anyone seeking a great camping stay, and for anyone who has always wanted to try out the RV experience!

How to book near Wade Hampton
Paris Mountain State Park uses the South Carolina State Parks reservation system. Reservations may be made up to 13 months in advance, and requests made less than one day before check-in must be handled directly through the park. Camping reservations require a minimum of two nights. Book online at the South Carolina State Parks reservation portal or by phone at 1-866-345-PARK.
Private parks handle bookings directly. GSP RV Park focuses on extended stays and asks guests to review rules, submit an application with a driver's license photo, and expect a background check on all adults, and the park often maintains a waiting list. Springwood RV Park and Scuffle Town Usa RV Park accept phone and online reservations for nightly, weekly, and monthly stays through their own websites.
What to expect near Wade Hampton
Site types vary widely by property. At Paris Mountain, each campsite has individual water and electrical hookups, some sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet and others up to 35 feet, and the campground is convenient to restroom facilities with hot showers. Campers must have a vehicle on-site for the duration of their stay along with appropriate camping equipment.
Private parks skew toward full hookups. Springwood RV Park has 59 full hook-up sites with patios and paved drives, offering both 50-amp and 30-amp service. Scuffle Town Usa RV Park offers 50-amp and 30-amp electrical service, full water and sewer, pull-through sites, grills, picnic tables, laundry facilities, and internet. GSP RV Park serves long-term guests with 30 and 50-amp service, water, sewer, and Wi-Fi, and can handle large rigs, though bathhouse facilities are limited.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Wade%20Hampton%2C%20South%20CarolinaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Wade Hampton, SC?
Great news for first-timers: a regular Class D driver's license is all South Carolina requires to drive any standard RV you'll find on RVezy, including Class A motorhomes up to 26,000 pounds. No commercial driver's license (CDL) and no special RV endorsement is needed. To rent an RV in Wade Hampton on RVezy, you simply need to be 25 or older with a valid license, which you verify quickly through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most guests are surprised how fast the ID step takes, usually just a few minutes on your phone.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs protection included with my RV rental in Wade Hampton?
Yes, every RV rental in Wade Hampton booked through RVezy includes a protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers most physical damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose the coverage level (not the host) during checkout, picking the option that fits your comfort level and budget. It isn't traditional auto insurance, but it provides meaningful financial protection if something unexpected happens on the way to Paris Mountain or Table Rock. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers side by side at booking, most first-time renters around Wade Hampton go with the mid-tier for the best balance.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if my plans change? Can I cancel my Wade Hampton RV rental?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy for every RV rental in Wade Hampton, and there is a money-back grace period right after booking so you're never locked in the instant you click confirm. After that window, refunds depend on how far out from your trip you cancel and on special circumstances. If life happens, reach out to RVezy support and they'll walk you through your options. That flexibility makes it easy to lock in a great rig now and finalize your Blue Ridge plans later.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Wade Hampton RV trip?
Yes, a pet-friendly RV rental in Wade Hampton is easy to find on RVezy, just flip on the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see plenty of dog-welcoming rigs. Once you're on the road, the Upstate is genuinely tail-wagging territory: Paris Mountain State Park allows leashed dogs on all trails, Falls Park on the Reedy in nearby Greenville is famously dog-friendly along the Liberty Bridge, and the Swamp Rabbit Trail running from Greenville to Travelers Rest is a paved greenway perfect for long leashed walks. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees, most are flexible if you mention your dog's size and travel experience upfront.
southcarolinaparks.com/paris-mountainCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Wade Hampton?
Yes, RV delivery in Wade Hampton is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters who don't want to drive a big rig through unfamiliar streets. Many local hosts will deliver and set up your motorhome or travel trailer right at your campsite at Paris Mountain State Park (about 15 minutes away), Springwood RV Park, or a nearby KOA, then walk you through every system before they leave. Filter for Delivery on RVezy to see hosts who offer this, and check each listing for the per-mile fee and minimum-night requirement. It's the closest thing to a turn-key glamping setup in the Upstate.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Wade%20Hampton%2C%20South%20CarolinaHow far can I drive on a Wade Hampton RV trip?

Most RVezy hosts include a daily mileage allowance with affordable overage rates, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer adventures. Pro tip: ask your host about a custom mileage package up front if you're planning the full Blue Ridge Parkway loop.
scdot.org/travel/travel-roadconditions.aspxWhere are the best campgrounds near Wade Hampton, SC?
You're spoiled for choice. Some of the best campgrounds near Wade Hampton include Paris Mountain State Park (about 15 minutes away, with lakes and miles of trails), Springwood RV Park (pet-friendly, full hookups), Travelers Rest/N Greenville KOA Holiday (level sites with full hookups), Scuffletown RV Park in Simpsonville (open year-round), and GSP RV Park near the airport in Greer for easy I-85 access. Pro tip: Paris Mountain has a narrow, winding access road, so it's perfect for travel trailers and Class B campervans but tight for big Class A rigs.
southcarolinaparks.com/paris-mountainWhen is the best time of year for RV camping in Wade Hampton?
The sweet spot for RV camping in Wade Hampton is mid-March through May and again from mid-September through early November. Spring brings blooming dogwoods and pleasant daytime highs, while fall delivers spectacular Blue Ridge foliage and crisp, cool days, perfect for hiking Paris Mountain. Summer (June to August) is warm and humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and frequent afternoon thunderstorms, so book a rig with strong AC. Winter is mild, meaning year-round Wade Hampton RV trips are absolutely doable. Pro tip: visit mid-October for peak leaf color, and reserve at least 6 weeks ahead.
weather.gov/gsp/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?
You'll be fine, most renters in Wade Hampton are first-timers. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup covering driving, leveling, slide-outs, propane, water systems, and the dump valves, and you can text them throughout your trip if you have a question. First time renting an RV? Start with a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer (under 25 feet) and pick a nearby spot like Paris Mountain State Park so you only have a 15-minute drive on your first day. Stick to wider corridors like I-85, I-385, and US-29 where bridge clearances comfortably exceed 13'6". Confidence builds fast once you're parked.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if something goes wrong on the road?
Help is always a phone call away. Every RVezy booking in Wade Hampton includes 24/7 roadside assistance for flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing, so a hiccup on US-29 or up in the Blue Ridge foothills won't derail your trip. Your host is also just a message away for quick questions about the rig's quirks, like how the awning retracts or how to reset the inverter. Beyond that, RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone before you leave the driveway, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN so you have it ready if you ever need to call.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Wade Hampton RV rental across state lines?
Yes, interstate RV road trips from Wade Hampton are allowed by most hosts. You're sitting on the I-85 corridor, so North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee are all easy weekend reaches. Popular routes include the Blue Ridge Parkway (enter near Asheville, about an hour north), Great Smoky Mountains National Park (about 2.5 hours), Savannah, GA (around 4.5 hours), and the Outer Banks of North Carolina for a longer week-long loop. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. If you're heading to Canada, message the host before booking to confirm. Pro tip: confirm the host's mileage allowance covers your full route to avoid overage fees.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Wade Hampton RV trip?
Fuel is very manageable in the Upstate. South Carolina consistently has some of the lowest gas prices in the country, often well below the national average, with several stations along Wade Hampton Boulevard for easy big-rig fill-ups. Realistic mileage: campervans and Class B rigs get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes 10 to 14 MPG, Class A around 7 to 10 MPG, and trucks pulling travel trailers 10 to 13 MPG. For a 4-day, 400-mile loop to Asheville and back in a Class C, plan roughly $130 to $180 in fuel. Pro tip: use a fuel-price app and fill up in SC before crossing into NC where prices typically climb.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Wade Hampton?
Booking early is the move, especially for state parks. South Carolina State Parks (including Paris Mountain, Table Rock, Jones Gap, and Devils Fork on Lake Jocassee) take reservations up to 13 months in advance through the official SC State Parks reservation system, and the most popular October weekends fill within hours of opening. For private parks like Springwood RV Park and Travelers Rest/N Greenville KOA, 4 to 8 weeks ahead is usually enough except on big event weekends. Pro tip: if peak fall weekends are gone, target a Sunday-through-Thursday stay, you'll often find prime sites open and pay 15 to 25% less.
southcarolinaparks.com/reservationsWhat are driving conditions like around Wade Hampton?
Driving an RV around Wade Hampton is refreshingly straightforward. The main corridor, Wade Hampton Boulevard (US-29), is wide, flat, and RV-friendly, and I-85 and I-385 both offer ample bridge clearance for standard RVs. Skip the narrowest streets of downtown Greenville's West End and older residential blocks where curbs are tight. Heading toward Paris Mountain or Caesars Head, expect winding two-lane mountain roads, so take it slow and use lower gears on descents. Summer brings afternoon thunderstorms (June through August) and rare winter ice can briefly affect mountain approaches. Pro tip: plan your departures to avoid I-85 rush-hour traffic around Greer.
scdot.org/travel/travel-roadconditions.aspxWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Wade Hampton?
Local campgrounds are well equipped. Most private parks near Wade Hampton (Springwood, GSP RV Park, Travelers Rest/N Greenville KOA) offer full hookups with 20/30/50-amp service, water, sewer, WiFi, and on-site dump stations. State park campgrounds like Paris Mountain and Table Rock offer water and electric sites with a centralized dump station and potable water fill near the entrance. For dumping mid-trip without staying overnight, the Greenville area has several accessible dump stations, with state-park stations typically charging a small fee for non-campers. Pro tip: top off fresh water before leaving your campground because waterfall trailheads at Jones Gap and Caesars Head have no RV-friendly fill points.
southcarolinaparks.com/table-rockWhat's included inside a typical Wade Hampton RV rental?
You'll be impressed by how complete these rigs are. A typical motorhome rental in Wade Hampton on RVezy comes with a real queen or king bed, a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stovetop, microwave, sink, cookware), a private bathroom with toilet and shower, dinette seating that often converts to an extra bed, roof-mounted air conditioning, propane furnace, and DOT-approved seatbelts for safe travel. Many also include a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and onboard generator for boondocking. WiFi varies; some hosts include a mobile hotspot, others rely on campground WiFi which is solid at most Upstate parks. Pro tip: check the listing photos for a coffee maker, it's the little thing that makes Blue Ridge sunrise mornings perfect.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Wade%20Hampton%2C%20South%20CarolinaWhat add-ons and options can I get with my campervan rental in Wade Hampton?
Plenty, and they make life easier. Popular RVezy add-ons for a campervan rental in Wade Hampton include linen and towel packages, fully stocked kitchen kits, camping chairs and outdoor tables, generators if not built-in, bike racks, and portable grills. Pickup is usually from the host's driveway in or around Wade Hampton, or you can choose delivery to Paris Mountain, Springwood, or any approved Upstate campground. Mileage policies typically range from 100 to 150 free miles per day with overage fees around $0.35 to $0.50 per mile. Pro tip: bundle delivery, linens, and a kitchen kit and your rig is fully turn-key when you arrive.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Wade%20Hampton%2C%20South%20CarolinaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
It's straightforward and secure. When you book an RV rental in Wade Hampton, you pay through RVezy's secure platform using a credit card, never cash or wire to the host, which protects you and locks in your reservation instantly. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, not actually charged, and released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To avoid any deposit hiccups, do a quick walkaround video at pickup with the host, return the rig with the fuel and propane levels matching pickup, and empty the black and gray tanks at a dump station before drop-off.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksIs a family RV trip from Wade Hampton a good idea?
It's one of the best family bases in the Carolinas. A family RV trip from Wade Hampton gives you quick access to kid-magnet stops like the Greenville Zoo, Falls Park on the Reedy with its iconic Liberty Bridge, Runway Park at the airport in Greer (real retired planes to climb on), and the Swamp Rabbit Trail for stroller-and-bike adventures. Within an hour you're at Table Rock State Park for swimming and easy hikes, or Lake Jocassee for crystal-clear paddling. RVezy listings show the Sleeps count right on the search results so you can filter for a rig that fits everyone. Pro tip: pick a Class C motorhome with bunks plus an over-cab bunk, parents get the back bedroom in peace.
