Campgrounds near West Pelzer
West Pelzer sits in South Carolina's Upstate, between Greenville and Anderson along the I-85 corridor. RV travelers use it as a base for the Blue Ridge foothills, Lake Hartwell, and Lake Keowee, all within a short drive. Elevations across the region generally run between 700 and 1,200 feet, so pads tend to be graveled and partly shaded rather than mountainous.
Private parks close to town include Eden Farm RV Park, Ivy Acres RV Park, Springwood RV Park, and Scuffle Town Usa RV Park, offering standard hookups and easy interstate access. Girl Scouts of South Carolina, Mountains to Midlands operates a group property in the area for organized troop and youth use rather than nightly RV rentals.
Beyond the private inventory, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds ring Lake Hartwell, and South Carolina State Parks such as Paris Mountain and Table Rock add waterfront and mountain-view sites within roughly an hour of West Pelzer.
Things to do near West Pelzer
Water recreation dominates trip planning. Lake Hartwell offers hundreds of miles of shoreline with boat ramps, swim beaches, and lakefront campsites, and Lake Keowee to the northwest is known for clear water and paddling.
Hiking and biking are close by. Paris Mountain State Park has trails and a small lake outside Greenville, and the Clemson Experimental Forest, including the Isaqueena Trail system, is a well-known mountain-biking area used by campers staying near Pelzer.
For rainy afternoons or a day off the RV, downtown Greenville, Anderson, and Clemson are each within a short drive, with restaurants, shops, and Clemson University attractions in easy reach of parks along the I-85 corridor.

88° / 68°F 113 mmHot and humid; peak bookings; afternoon thunderstorms.

- winter
December - February
54° / 34°F 101 mmCool and damp; freezing nights possible; light traffic.
Summer, from June through August, is the busiest camping window and the season most private and public campgrounds treat as peak. Daytime highs commonly reach the upper 80s and low 90s Fahrenheit, and afternoon thunderstorms are routine. Lake sites at Hartwell and Keowee book fastest during this stretch, and holiday weekends fill first.
Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons for RVing. March through May brings blooming trails and moderate temperatures, while September through November offers cooler nights, fall color in the nearby Blue Ridge, and lighter campground traffic once schools return to session.
Winter is quieter but still usable. Freezing temperatures can happen here any time from November until April, and the Upstate typically sees only a trace of snow, so year-round parks such as Springwood RV Park in nearby Greenville remain a workable option for cold-weather travel.

Great RV! Super clean. Prompt delivery and pick up! Jonathan is a great host!

This was an incredible camping experience! It was the ideal way to camp, as we had always used tents before. It was fantastic that the RV was delivered and ready to use! There was ample space for my family to enjoy the room without feeling cramped. A big storm rolled in, and it was a great place to come together and use the appliances inside to cook dinner and watch a movie as a family. I highly recommend this rental for anyone seeking a great camping stay, and for anyone who has always wanted to try out the RV experience!

Booking and reservations
For South Carolina State Parks, reservations at state parks may be made up to 13 months in advance and can be made online through the state parks reservation system or by calling 1-866-345-PARK (7275). Reservations requested less than one day in advance of check-in must be made directly through the park. Campsite reservations require payment in full at the time the reservation is made, and a two-night minimum typically applies, with longer minimums during busy periods.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds around Lake Hartwell are booked through Recreation.gov. Private parks near West Pelzer, including Eden Farm RV Park, Ivy Acres RV Park, and Scuffle Town Usa RV Park, are booked directly with the operator, often online. For summer weekends and holidays, plan several weeks out at minimum.
What to expect on-site
Most RV parks in the West Pelzer area offer level graveled pads, 30- and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer or a central dump station. Sites vary between pull-through and back-in, so RV renters should confirm site length and hookup type before booking, particularly for larger Class A rigs.
Expect partial shade from mixed pines and hardwoods, picnic tables, and fire rings at most sites. Bathhouses and laundry are common at larger parks. Wi-Fi quality varies widely by park, so travelers relying on connectivity should not assume strong signal at every site.
Pets are generally welcome on leash. All firewood brought into South Carolina State Parks must be from within the state and from less than 50 miles away, so plan to buy locally rather than transport wood from home.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near West Pelzer, SC
How much does it cost to rent an RV in West Pelzer, SC?
Good news: RV rental in West Pelzer is one of the most affordable ways to explore the Upstate. On RVezy, you'll typically find travel trailers from around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes from $150 to $250, and luxury Class A rigs from $250 to $400 per night. Hosts in this corner of Anderson County tend to price lower than nearby Greenville or Asheville, so a long weekend exploring Lake Hartwell can easily come in under $600. To save more, look for midweek bookings, longer stays (many hosts offer weekly discounts), and shoulder-season trips in April or October when daytime highs still hit the 70s. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book to lock in your dates before peak Clemson football weekends sell out.
southcarolinaparks.com/camping-and-lodging/camping/tent-and-rvDo I need a special license to rent an RV in West Pelzer, South Carolina?
Great news for first-timers: your regular Class D driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in West Pelzer for virtually every rig on RVezy. South Carolina only requires a Class E non-commercial license if the motorhome exceeds 26,000 pounds gross vehicle weight, and the vast majority of Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers come in well under that. You'll also need to be at least 25 years old with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right inside the booking flow, so there's no paperwork shuffle. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home license. Most renters are surprised how quickly the verification step takes, often just a few minutes from their phone.
dmv.sc.gov/Driver-Services/Drivers-License/Non-Commercial-License---Classes-E-FWhat protection comes with my West Pelzer RV rental?
You're covered from the moment you hit the road. Every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so whether you're parked at Lake Hartwell or rolling down I-85, help is one phone call away. During checkout, you (the guest, not the host) choose your preferred protection tier, so you can match coverage to your comfort level and budget. Protection plans help cover physical damage to the RV during your trip, with details and limits outlined on RVezy's protection page. Pro tip: snap a quick walk-around video with your host at pickup. It takes two minutes and makes any post-trip questions painless.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my West Pelzer RV trip?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy, and there's a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in dates with confidence. After that window, refund eligibility depends on how far in advance you cancel. If something outside your control disrupts plans, like a hurricane remnant tracking through the Upstate, contact RVezy support early to walk through your options. The current cancellation details are always available on the RVezy Help Center before you book. Pro tip: if a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or helps you rebook, so you're not left stranded.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a West Pelzer RV rental?
Absolutely, plenty of tails welcome here. A large share of listings on RVezy offer pet-friendly RV rental West Pelzer options, and you can flip the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page to see them instantly. Once you're on the road, you've got fantastic nearby spots to explore with your pup: Paris Mountain State Park (about 25 minutes north) has leashed-pet-friendly trails, Lake Hartwell State Park welcomes leashed dogs at its waterfront campsites, and Dolly Cooper Park in nearby Anderson has a great off-leash dog area. Some hosts charge a small pet fee or deposit, so message them through the listing to confirm before you book. Pro tip: bring a long tie-out and a portable water bowl; Upstate summers get hot and shaded campsites are gold.
southcarolinaparks.com/paris-mountainCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near West Pelzer?
Yes, and it's honestly the easiest way to do a first RV trip. Many hosts offering RV delivery to West Pelzer will drive the rig straight to your campground, festival site, or even your driveway, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. That means no towing stress, no backing into a tight site, and no figuring out the awning on your own. Popular delivery destinations include Springwood RV Park in Greenville and Lake Hartwell State Park about 45 minutes west. Just use the Delivery filter when you search, and message hosts for a quote based on mileage. Pro tip: delivery is a game-changer for Clemson football weekends, no parking-lot maneuvering required.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=West%20Pelzer%2C%20South%20CarolinaHow far can I travel on my West Pelzer RV trip?
West Pelzer is a fantastic launchpad for short, scenic drives. From here, you can reach Lake Hartwell in about 30 minutes, Greenville's downtown Falls Park in 20 minutes, Table Rock State Park in roughly an hour, Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway in about 90 minutes, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in around 2.5 hours. Each host on RVezy sets their own mileage policy: some include a daily allowance (often 100 to 150 miles per day), some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, and others charge a per-mile fee beyond the included amount. You'll see the exact policy on the listing before you book. Pro tip: if you're planning a longer RV road trip from West Pelzer toward the Smokies or Charleston, filter for unlimited-mileage listings to keep your budget predictable.
nps.gov/grsm/index.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near West Pelzer to park my RV?
You've got excellent options within 45 minutes for RV camping in West Pelzer. Springwood RV Park in Greenville offers pull-through sites with Wi-Fi, full hookups, and showers. Lake Hartwell State Park (about 40 minutes west) has paved waterfront RV sites with electric and water hookups and gorgeous sunsets over the lake. Sadlers Creek State Park near Anderson has sites with electric and water hookups right on Lake Hartwell. For mountain views, Table Rock State Park about an hour north is one of the best campgrounds near West Pelzer for RV trips. Pro tip: state park sites are booked through reserve.southcarolinaparks.com and waterfront sites disappear fast for summer weekends.
southcarolinaparks.com/lake-hartwellWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from West Pelzer?
Honestly, the Upstate has a long, friendly RV season. April through early June is gorgeous: daytime highs in the 70s and low 80s, blooming dogwoods, and low humidity. September through early November is arguably even better, with crisp mornings, fall color rolling down from the Blue Ridge, and Clemson football weekends bringing the energy. Summer (June through August) is hot and humid, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and afternoon thunderstorms, but lake campgrounds shine then. Winter is mild compared to most of the country (highs in the 50s, lows in the 30s), and many local campgrounds, including Springwood and Eden Farm, stay open year-round. Pro tip: book October weekends 3 to 4 months ahead, it's the sweet spot for weather and foliage.
weather.gov/gsp/climateI've never rented an RV before. Will I actually be able to drive this thing?
You've got this, and you won't be alone figuring it out. If it's your first time renting an RV, your RVezy host will give you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving tips, the generator, holding tanks, slide-outs, the awning, and propane. It usually takes 30 to 60 minutes, and you can ask as many questions as you want. Around West Pelzer, the roads are forgiving: SC-8 and US-29 are wide and rural, I-85 stays mostly flat, and you can practice in big parking lots before heading to camp. If big-rig nerves are still real, book a Class B campervan or a smaller Class C, they drive a lot like a large van. Pro tip: ask the host to film a quick orientation video on your phone, you'll thank yourself at the campsite.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
Take a breath, you're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if you get a flat on I-85, the generator quits at Lake Hartwell, or a tire goes soft on the way up to Caesars Head, one phone call gets help dispatched. You'll also have your host's direct contact info, and most West Pelzer hosts are local, meaning they often know the closest mobile RV tech or tire shop personally. Cell service is solid across most of Anderson, Greenville, and Pickens counties, with only occasional dead zones deep in the Blue Ridge foothills. Pro tip: do a quick tire-pressure and fluid check before leaving the host's driveway. It takes five minutes and prevents 90% of roadside issues before they start.
scdot.org/Can I take my West Pelzer RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is normal and welcomed on RVezy. From West Pelzer, you can easily roll into Georgia (under an hour to the state line near Hartwell), North Carolina (about 45 minutes north to the Blue Ridge), or Tennessee (around 3 hours to the Smokies) on a standard RVezy booking. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the insurance terms, so message hosts directly before booking if a longer route is on your mind. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because protection coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: a classic RV road trip from West Pelzer runs the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville up toward Boone, NC, some of the prettiest driving in the country.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a West Pelzer RV trip?
South Carolina fuel is friendlier to your wallet than most of the country. The Greenville-area average for regular gas has been hovering around $3.75 to $3.85 per gallon recently, and diesel runs higher. Class B campervans typically get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 MPG, and bigger Class A rigs land around 7 to 10 MPG. So a 300-mile weekend loop to Lake Hartwell and back in a Class C might run you $90 to $120 in fuel. To stretch your budget on a cheap RV rental West Pelzer trip, fuel up just off I-85 in Anderson or Piedmont where prices tend to run cheaper than highway exits closer to Greenville. Pro tip: download GasBuddy before you leave, the Upstate has wild price swings between stations even five minutes apart.
gasprices.aaa.com/?state=SCHow far ahead should I book campsites near West Pelzer?
For the most popular spots, book early, especially South Carolina state parks. Reservations for Lake Hartwell, Table Rock, Devils Fork, and Paris Mountain State Parks open up to 13 months in advance through reserve.southcarolinaparks.com, and waterfront sites at Lake Hartwell routinely sell out months ahead for summer weekends and holidays. Private parks like Eden Farm RV Park and Springwood RV Park usually have better last-minute availability, often bookable a week or two out. For Clemson football weekends (August through November), lock in your site as soon as the schedule drops in spring. Pro tip: if your dream state park site is full, set a Campnab alert for cancellations, spots open up regularly in the two weeks before arrival.
reserve.southcarolinaparks.com/What are the local driving conditions like around West Pelzer?
Driving here is refreshingly low-stress for an RV. West Pelzer sits in rolling Piedmont terrain (elevation about 800 feet), so you'll find gentle grades rather than steep mountain passes. I-85 is the main artery and stays flat and wide, though traffic does pick up around the Greenville-Spartanburg corridor weekday afternoons. SC-8 and US-29 through Pelzer are easy two-lane roads with good shoulders. The one area to drive thoughtfully is heading north toward Caesars Head or up the Blue Ridge Escarpment, where grades steepen and switchbacks tighten, take it slow in a larger Class A or fifth wheel. Summer afternoons can bring sudden thunderstorms; pull off and wait them out. Pro tip: avoid I-85 northbound between 4 and 6 p.m. on weekdays, it backs up around the Mauldin and Greenville exits.
scdot.org/travel/travel.aspxWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near West Pelzer?
You'll be well taken care of. Most full-service parks in the area, including Eden Farm RV Park, Springwood RV Park, and Scuffletown RV Park, offer full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, hot showers, and dump stations. South Carolina State Parks like Lake Hartwell and Sadlers Creek provide water and electric at every site, with centralized dump stations and bathhouses. Potable water fill-ups are available at every campground entrance, and most have a host or ranger on-site for quick help. Pro tip: if you're boondocking or staying somewhere without a dump station, the SCDOT welcome centers and a few Pilot/Flying J locations along I-85 (like the one in Anderson) have public dump stations, usually $10 to $15. Always carry your own drinking-water hose, it's the one thing campgrounds don't lend out.
southcarolinaparks.com/camping-and-lodging/camping/tent-and-rvWhat's inside a typical West Pelzer RV rental?
More comforts than you'd guess. A typical motorhome or travel trailer rental in West Pelzer comes fully equipped: a queen or king bed, convertible dinette or bunks for kids, a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave and sink, an indoor bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control (roof AC and furnace), and seatbelted seating for travel. Most rigs include a TV, many have a generator for off-grid power, and a growing number offer onboard Wi-Fi or cell boosters. Hosts typically provide basic kitchenware, linens, and sometimes outdoor chairs and a grill. You'll see the full amenity list on each listing before booking. Pro tip: message the host to ask about a starter kit (toilet paper, sewer hose, leveling blocks) so you don't end up making a store run on day one of your family RV trip.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=West%20Pelzer%2C%20South%20CarolinaWhat add-ons and extras can I get with my RV rental in West Pelzer?
Hosts on RVezy offer some genuinely useful extras. Common add-ons for a campervan or motorhome rental in West Pelzer include bike racks, kayak racks, outdoor grills, generators, camping chair and table sets, linens and towels, and pre-stocked kitchen kits. Many hosts offer delivery and setup for a per-mile fee, which is incredibly helpful for first-timers. Pickup and dropoff usually happen at the host's home in or near West Pelzer or Greenville, with flexible windows. Mileage policies vary by host (100 to 150 miles per day included is typical, with some offering unlimited). Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a generator add-on for festival weekends in Greenville, you'll be the most comfortable camp in the lot.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=West%20Pelzer%2C%20South%20CarolinaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
It's all handled smoothly through the platform, with no cash exchanges with your host. When you book your RV rental in South Carolina, you pay the trip total (rental, fees, protection plan) securely through RVezy. The security deposit is separate from the booking payment and is held as a pre-authorization on your card, not charged, and it's released after the trip if there are no issues. Deposit amounts vary based on the rig and the protection level you choose at checkout. To keep your deposit release smooth: document the RV's condition with photos at pickup and dropoff, stay within your mileage allowance, return the rig with the same fuel and propane levels, and dump the tanks if your host requires it. Pro tip: read the listing's house rules carefully before booking, it keeps your trip drama-free from start to finish.
