Campgrounds near Williamston, South Carolina
Williamston sits in Anderson County in South Carolina's Upstate, roughly halfway between Anderson and Greenville along U.S. 29 and just off I-85. The town works well as an RV base because it puts travelers within a short drive of Lake Hartwell, the Blue Ridge foothills, and the Clemson University area, while still offering quiet small-town camping close to town services.
Campground options in the immediate area lean toward private, full-hookup RV parks rather than large public campgrounds. Eden Farm RV Park and Ivy Acres RV Park sit closest to Williamston itself, with Springwood RV Park serving travelers heading toward Greenville. The Girl Scouts of South Carolina–Mountains to Midlands property offers group and program-based stays, and Clemson RV Park at the Grove gives easy access to Clemson home football weekends and Lake Hartwell recreation.
For state-run camping, travelers typically drive out to Paris Mountain, Table Rock, or Lake Hartwell State Park, all reservable through the South Carolina State Parks system.
Things to do near Williamston
Outdoor time centers on the Upstate's lakes and foothills. Lake Hartwell, about a half-hour west, is the region's main draw for boating, fishing, and swimming, with day-use beaches at Lake Hartwell State Park. Paris Mountain State Park in Greenville County provides opportunities for hiking, biking, fishing, and picnicking. Table Rock State Park covers about 3,083 acres and serves as a trailhead for the 80-mile Foothills Trail, which links several South Carolina state parks along the Blue Ridge Escarpment.
Closer in, families can visit downtown Greenville for Falls Park on the Reedy and the Swamp Rabbit Trail, or head to Clemson for campus tours, the South Carolina Botanical Garden, and lakeside parks. Pendleton's historic district and Sassafras Mountain, the highest point in the state, round out day-trip options.

Spring and fall are the strongest RV seasons in the Upstate. From late March through May, daytime highs climb from the low 60s into the low 80s, and dogwoods and mountain laurel bloom in the nearby foothills. May tends to be one of the wetter months, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms that build and clear quickly.
Summers are hot and humid. July is the warmest month, with an average high around 90°F and an average low near 69°F, and afternoon storms build almost daily. Sites at lakeside and state-park campgrounds fill quickly on summer weekends and around the July 4 holiday, so book early.
Fall brings the region's most reliable weather: cool nights, comfortable days, and lower rainfall. Late October typically sees peak foliage in the Blue Ridge foothills, driving strong demand at Paris Mountain and Table Rock. Winters are cool rather than harsh, and most private RV parks near Williamston stay open year-round, while state park campgrounds also remain accessible with reduced weekend crowds.

This was an incredible camping experience! It was the ideal way to camp, as we had always used tents before. It was fantastic that the RV was delivered and ready to use! There was ample space for my family to enjoy the room without feeling cramped. A big storm rolled in, and it was a great place to come together and use the appliances inside to cook dinner and watch a movie as a family. I highly recommend this rental for anyone seeking a great camping stay, and for anyone who has always wanted to try out the RV experience!

How to book campgrounds near Williamston
Private parks close to town, including Eden Farm RV Park, Ivy Acres RV Park, and Springwood RV Park, are booked directly with the campground by phone or through their own websites. Clemson RV Park at the Grove books directly as well and sells out early for Clemson football home game weekends, graduation, and other campus events.
For South Carolina State Parks such as Paris Mountain, Table Rock, and Lake Hartwell, reservations go through the state's central system at reserve.southcarolinaparks.com or by phone at 866-345-7275. Reservations may be made up to 13 months in advance, and campsite rentals are typically accepted for a two-night minimum, with minimum stays that may be increased at some parks during busier periods. Prime summer and fall weekends at Table Rock and Paris Mountain often book out months ahead.
What to expect at Williamston-area campgrounds
Private RV parks near Williamston tend to be small and family-run, with full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50-amp electric), gravel or grass pads, laundry, and basic bathhouses. Wi-Fi and cable vary by park, and cell coverage on the major carriers is generally strong throughout Anderson County.
At South Carolina State Park campgrounds, sites typically include water and electric, with dump stations on site. Larger rigs should confirm site length when booking, since older loops were laid out for shorter trailers. All firewood brought into South Carolina State Parks must be from within the state and from less than 50 miles away, so plan to buy locally.
Pets are welcome at most private parks and in outdoor areas of state parks. All pets must be on a leash no greater than 6 feet or crated at all times. Quiet hours, generator rules, and check-in windows vary, so review each park's policies before arrival.

Class C motorhomes generally get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (mpg), Class A coaches 6 to 10 mpg, and campervans 14 to 20 mpg. For a 300-mile weekend loop from Williamston to Lake Hartwell and back, plan on roughly $75 to $150 in fuel depending on your rig.
