Campgrounds near Blaine, Tennessee
Blaine sits in Grainger County in East Tennessee, roughly 20 miles northeast of Knoxville and along the southern shoreline of Cherokee Lake. The town works well as a base for RV travelers who want lake access, Appalachian foothill scenery, and a straight shot to the Great Smoky Mountains region without staying in a tourist-heavy town.
Most campgrounds in the area cluster around two TVA reservoirs on the Holston and Clinch Rivers: Cherokee Lake to the south and Norris Lake to the north. TVA offers hundreds of campsites among its six dam reservoir campgrounds, available from March 15 to November 15, and all six are managed by Vista Recreation under a concessionaire agreement with TVA. Cherokee Dam Campground is the closest of those to Blaine. Hickory Star Campground sits on Norris Lake in Union County and is operated independently rather than by TVA.
Private options fill the gaps outside the TVA season. Dumplin Valley RV and Two Rivers Landing RV Resort cover full-hookup travelers looking for longer stays, while Mountain Lake Ranch Christian Retreat handles group and family trips.
Things to do near Blaine
Cherokee Lake is the main draw on the south side of Blaine. Cherokee Dam Campground sits on the upstream south side of the TVA Cherokee Dam, adjacent to a large public boat ramp, a day-use area, and a swimming area with picnic tables and a pavilion. The reservoir is well known for bass, crappie, and striper fishing. Hickory Star Campground offers similar water access on Norris Lake to the north.
Panther Creek State Park is a short drive east and adds land-based recreation. Visitors can enjoy horseback riding, disc golf, fishing, hiking, and biking throughout the park, and camping options include sites for tents and RVs with water and electric hookups.
For day trips, Knoxville is about 30 minutes southwest for city amenities, and the Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg corridor leading into Great Smoky Mountains National Park is roughly an hour to the south.

Season planning around Blaine revolves around the TVA calendar and lake conditions. TVA offers hundreds of campsites among its six dam reservoir campgrounds, available from March 15 to November 15. That window covers Cherokee Dam Campground, so winter arrivals need a private park such as Dumplin Valley RV or Two Rivers Landing RV Resort.
Spring brings wildflowers, cool nights, and the wettest stretch of the year in the Knoxville area. Water levels on Cherokee Lake are usually still low from winter drawdown early in the season, then rise through May.
Summer is peak booking season. Weekends at lakefront TVA sites and state parks fill weeks in advance, and humidity and afternoon thunderstorms are routine. Fall is the sweet spot for many RV renters: October is one of the drier months, foliage peaks in mid to late October in the surrounding ridges, and daytime temperatures stay comfortable through early November before TVA closures take effect.

How to book campgrounds near Blaine
TVA sites, including Cherokee Dam Campground, book through the concessionaire that manages the reservoir campgrounds. All six campgrounds are managed by Vista Recreation under a concessionaire agreement with TVA, which has allowed an expansion of services that include new campground stores, wireless access, and an online reservation system. The length of stay is limited to 21 days during the high season (May 1 to Sept 30) and 30 days in the off-season.
State park sites use a separate system. Reservations are available up to one year in advance through reserve.tnstateparks.com.
Private parks such as Dumplin Valley RV, Two Rivers Landing RV Resort, and Mountain Lake Ranch Christian Retreat take reservations directly through the operators. Summer weekends and October foliage weeks are the tightest windows, so book those first.
What to expect on the ground
Roads into lakeside campgrounds can be narrow, and GPS is not always reliable. RV renters heading to Cherokee Dam Campground should confirm the approved route with the campground before departure and watch posted clearances, since some routes near the reservoir include low structures that cannot clear taller rigs.
Site types vary. Cherokee Dam Campground has 44 total camp sites, and with the exception of 5 primitive sites, all sites have electrical and water hookups, with 4 sites meeting ADA guidelines. Larger rigs may fit better at private parks or at Panther Creek, where 50 campsites have water and 20, 30, 50-amp electrical hookups, grills, picnic tables, and fire rings, and eight of the campsites have sewer hookups.
Cell coverage is generally usable on the main carriers around the lake, and small camp stores handle basics, but full grocery runs mean a trip into Jefferson City or Knoxville.

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Blaine options are easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when browsing, and you'll see hosts who happily welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) on board. Once you're rolling, East Tennessee is a dog lover's playground: Big Ridge State Park, just 15 minutes north of Blaine, allows leashed pets on trails and in the campground, and Cherokee Lake's shoreline parks are dog-friendly too. Great Smoky Mountains National Park has limited pet access, but nearby Cherokee National Forest welcomes leashed dogs on most trails. Pro tip: message your host before booking to confirm any pet fee and bring a long lead for relaxed campsite afternoons.
tnstateparks.com/parks/big-ridgeCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Blaine?
Yes, RV delivery Blaine is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters who'd rather not drive a motorhome themselves. Many local hosts will deliver the RV directly to your campground, lake house, or driveway, then set up the awning, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. Popular drop-off spots include Big Ridge State Park, Cove Creek Campground on Cherokee Lake, and Norris Dam State Park, all within roughly 30 minutes of Blaine. Pro tip: filter listings by Delivery and message the host with your destination address; you'll often get a flat delivery quote within hours.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park's Gatlinburg entrance is about 50 miles south (roughly 1 hour 15 minutes), Pigeon Forge and Dollywood sit just past that, and Asheville, North Carolina is around 130 miles east via I-40 (about 2.5 hours). Nashville is about 200 miles west on I-40 (3.5 hours), and the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance near Cherokee, NC is about 90 miles south. nps.gov/grsm/index.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Blaine, TN to park an RV?
You're spoiled for choice. Some of the best campgrounds near Blaine include Big Ridge State Park (about 15 minutes north on Norris Lake, with water/electric hookups and shaded sites), Norris Dam State Park (about 30 minutes northwest, with paved RV pads and TVA lake views), Cove Creek Campground on Cherokee Lake, Raccoon Valley RV Park in Heiskell (an Escapees-affiliated park about 25 minutes west), and Clinton/Knoxville North KOA. For RV camping Blaine families love, Big Ridge wins for the swimming beach and ranger programs. Pro tip: book state park sites through the official Tennessee State Parks reservation site, ideally 60 to 90 days ahead for summer weekends.
tnstateparks.com/parks/big-ridgeWhen is the best time to visit Blaine for an RV trip?
Mid-April through late June and again from mid-September through early November are the sweet spots for RV camping Blaine adventures. Spring brings highs in the upper 60s to upper 70s, blooming dogwoods, and lower humidity, while fall delivers crisp 60s and 70s with the Smoky Mountains' world-famous foliage typically peaking mid-October through early November. July and August can climb to 87°F and feel muggy, but lake-front sites on Cherokee Lake and Norris Lake make it bearable. Winters are mild (highs in the mid-40s), and many hosts rent year-round. Pro tip: target the second and third weeks of October for peak leaf-peeping along the nearby Foothills Parkway.
weather.gov/mrx/I'm first time renting an RV. Will I be okay driving around Blaine?
You've got this. First time renting an RV around Blaine is genuinely manageable because the roads here are forgiving: Highway 11W and Interstate 40 are wide, well-marked, and easy to navigate, and most local campgrounds have pull-through sites so you rarely need to back up. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving tips, hookups, the generator, slide-outs, and waste tanks. You can also message your host with questions any time before or during the trip, and 24/7 roadside assistance is just a call away. Pro tip: pick a travel trailer-free Class C motorhome for your first trip; they drive a lot like a big van.
tn.gov/tdot.htmlWhat happens if something breaks down during my Blaine RV trip?
You're never stranded. Every RV rental in Blaine, TN booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, so a flat tire on I-40, a dead battery at a Cherokee Lake overlook, or a lockout at Big Ridge State Park is handled with one phone call. Help can be dispatched anywhere along your route, including the more remote stretches of Highway 25E heading toward Cumberland Gap. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after your trip to troubleshoot anything that comes up. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number and your host's contact info to your phone before you leave the driveway.
tn.gov/safety/tnhp.htmlCan I take a Blaine RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome on most RVezy bookings, and an RV road trip from Blaine into North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, or Georgia is incredibly popular. The Great Smoky Mountains straddle Tennessee and North Carolina, and the Blue Ridge Parkway, Shenandoah, and Mammoth Cave are all within reach. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and protection coverage, so message the host before booking if Canada is on your itinerary. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: a five-state Appalachian loop (TN to NC to VA to KY and back) is a bucket-list route many Blaine renters love.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on an RV trip from Blaine?
Fuel is the biggest variable, but it's predictable. Gas prices in the Knoxville/Blaine area typically run a bit below the national average thanks to Tennessee's lower fuel taxes. Expect Class C motorhomes to get 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG), Class A rigs 6 to 8 MPG, campervans 14 to 18 MPG, and a truck pulling a travel trailer 9 to 12 MPG. For a typical 4-day, 400-mile loop through the Smokies and back, budget roughly $150 to $250 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up at the Pilot or Love's near Strawberry Plains exit on I-40 before heading into Gatlinburg, where prices climb noticeably.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Blaine?
For peak season, sooner is better. Tennessee State Parks like Big Ridge and Norris Dam open reservations up to 12 months in advance through the official tnstateparks.com booking system, and summer weekends plus October leaf season fill up 60 to 120 days out. Private parks such as Raccoon Valley RV Park and Clinton/Knoxville North KOA can often be booked 2 to 4 weeks ahead, even in peak months. For shoulder-season weekdays (April, early June, late September), you can usually score a site within a week. Pro tip: set up a free account on tnstateparks.com before you start hunting, so when a cancellation pops up you can grab it in seconds.
tnstateparks.com/reservationsWhat are the local driving conditions like around Blaine, TN?
Driving around Blaine is refreshingly relaxed. The town sits along Highway 11W in Grainger County, with easy connections to Interstate 40 and Interstate 75 about 20 to 25 minutes south. Country roads are gently rolling rather than steep, and traffic is light outside of Knoxville rush hours. Heading into the Smokies, US-441 between Gatlinburg and Cherokee includes tight switchbacks and a 35 MPH limit; take it slow in larger rigs. Summer thunderstorms can pop up quickly in the afternoons, and winter ice is occasional but real on shaded mountain roads. Pro tip: avoid Pigeon Forge Parkway on Saturday afternoons in October; route through Wears Valley instead for a calmer drive.
tn.gov/tdot/driver-how-do-i/check-current-road-conditions.htmlWhat amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Blaine?
Local campgrounds are well-equipped. State parks like Big Ridge and Norris Dam offer paved or gravel sites with water and 30/50-amp electric, and most loops have a centralized dump station. Cherokee Lake-area private parks such as Indian Creek and Whispering River Resort typically provide full hookups (water, electric, sewer), bathhouses, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Public dump stations and potable water fills are also available at Escapees Raccoon Valley RV Park and the Pilot/Flying J truck stop near Strawberry Plains. Pro tip: confirm your rig's amp service (30 vs 50) when booking a site, especially during summer when running air conditioning on a 30-amp pedestal can trip breakers in larger Class A motorhomes.
tnstateparks.com/parks/norris-damWhat's typically included inside a Blaine RV rental?
More than you'd expect. A typical motorhome rental Blaine listing on RVezy comes fully equipped: comfortable sleeping areas (usually 4 to 8 berths), a working kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and cookware, a private bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with air conditioning and a furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many rigs also include a TV, onboard generator, outdoor awning, and a Bluetooth stereo, and some hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots or Starlink as paid add-ons. Campervan rental Blaine options are cozier but still include a bed, kitchenette, and often a wet bath. Pro tip: scan each listing's amenities checklist for a generator if you plan to boondock at Cherokee Lake overlooks.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat add-ons and pickup options are available when I rent an RV in Blaine?
Hosts in Blaine offer a friendly menu of add-ons to tailor your trip. Common extras include camping chairs and tables, generators, propane refills, bike racks, kitchen kits, linens, fishing gear, and outdoor grills, with most items priced from about $10 to $50 for the trip. Many hosts also offer delivery to nearby campgrounds (Big Ridge, Norris Dam, Cove Creek) and flexible pickup windows. Mileage policies vary by listing: some include 100 to 150 free miles per night, others offer unlimited mileage packages perfect for longer Smoky Mountain loops. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a stocked kitchen kit on your first booking; you'll arrive to a ready-to-camp rig without unloading a car full of gear.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Blaine,TennesseeHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and handled entirely through RVezy, so you never hand cash to the host. You'll pay your rental total (nightly rate, fees, chosen protection plan, and any add-ons) securely at checkout with a credit or debit card. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card before pickup and is released after the trip assuming the RV comes back in the condition it left. To avoid issues, do a thorough walk-around with the host at pickup and dropoff, take date-stamped photos, and report anything unusual right away. Pro tip: keep receipts for fuel and propane top-ups so any dropoff reconciliation is fast and transparent.
