Campgrounds and RV parks near Bolivar, TN

Bolivar sits in Hardeman County in southwest Tennessee, roughly an hour east of Memphis and about 30 minutes south of Jackson. The area is rural and wooded, with the Hatchie River corridor running just north of town and Chickasaw State Park spanning 1,435 acres of hardwood forests and lakes a short drive to the northeast. RV travelers typically use Bolivar as a base for state park camping, river access on the Hatchie, and day trips to Shiloh National Military Park and downtown Memphis. Campground options near Bolivar range from full-hookup private parks to state park sites geared toward equestrians and families. Big Buck Camping Resort and Cherokee Landing Campground handle most short-stay RV traffic close to town, while the Wrangler Equestrian area at Chickasaw State Park serves campers traveling with horses. Jackson RV Park adds capacity along the I-40 corridor to the north, and Serendipity Brownsville's Venue, Resort, and RV Park offers an event-oriented option west toward Brownsville. Roads into the region are flat and easy for larger rigs, with US-64 as the main east-west route through town.

Chickasaw State Park sites are booked through the Tennessee State Parks reservation system. Reservations may be made up to a year in advance, and a non-refundable Advanced Reservation Fee applies per campsite. Check-in is at 4:00 PM, check-out is at noon, and the maximum stay is 14 consecutive days, extended to 28 days from December 1 through February. Private campgrounds such as Big Buck Camping Resort, Cherokee Landing Campground, Jackson RV Park, and Serendipity Brownsville's Venue, Resort, and RV Park handle bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. For holiday weekends and fall color, reserve six to eight weeks out; equestrian sites at Chickasaw historically fill fastest during spring and fall trail-riding weekends when the wrangler campground is open.
