Erin camping overview
Erin sits in Houston County in Middle Tennessee, roughly an hour west of Nashville and a short drive from the Tennessee River and Kentucky Lake. The county seat has a small resident population, just over 1,200 at the 2020 census, so RV travelers use it as a quiet base for lake access, state park hiking, and country-music history stops rather than as an urban hub.
Campground options within reasonable driving distance range from small private parks like Hidden Haven and Dixieland Country Cabins and Campground to larger destination properties. Elk Harbor Lakeside RV Park serves lake-oriented trips, while Loretta Lynn's Ranch in Hurricane Mills pairs full-hookup and tent camping with a working ranch and museum complex. The Loretta Lynn property functions as both a campground and an event venue and tourist attraction, and it also offers horseback riding, kayaking, and other rural activities.
For a public-lands option, Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park lies to the southwest along Kentucky Lake and books through the Tennessee State Parks system.
Things to do near Erin
Water access defines most trips in this area. Elk Harbor Lakeside RV Park puts guests near boating and fishing, and Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park adds shoreline hiking. The park sits on Kentucky Lake and the Tennessee River in West Tennessee, with wooded hills, lake views, and more than 20 miles of hiking trails.
Music and heritage sites round out the itinerary. At Loretta Lynn's Ranch, visitors can tour the Coal Miner's Daughter Museum, the restored 19th-century grist mill, and a replica of Loretta's Butcher Hollow childhood home, plus concerts, campfire shows, and guided horseback rides.
In Erin itself, families often time visits to the Irish Celebration. The week-long event culminates on the third Saturday of March with a grand parade, a carnival, and more than 150 craft and food vendors, and has been named one of the Top 10 Irish Celebrations in the United States.

Spring is the busiest planning window. The third Saturday in March draws large crowds into downtown Erin for the Irish Celebration parade, so RV sites within an hour of town book out well in advance. April and May bring warm days, active thunderstorms, and peak wildflower and turkey-season traffic at state parks.
Summer is hot and humid across Middle Tennessee, with afternoon storms common. Lake-based campgrounds fill on weekends and holidays. Fall, from mid-September through October, is often the most comfortable stretch for RV travel, with cooler nights, drier conditions, and color along the Kentucky Lake ridges.
Winter camping is possible but limited. Some private parks reduce services and some state park loops close for maintenance. At Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park, the Happy Hollow and Lakefront Campgrounds, the baseball field, and the volleyball court are closed for structural renovations, with a full reopening not yet confirmed, so travelers should verify campground status with the park office before booking a cold-weather trip.

Everything worked out perfectly , the RV was delivered on time. Very clean and all set you for our event. Communication was 5/5 . I am already looking at renting the RV again next year.
Andy W. - Aug 2026
Julia and Mark were fantastic hosts and made sure we had everything we needed for a safe, smooth, and enjoyable trip. Their RV was beautifully renovated, clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for our adventure. It was the perfect size for my wife, our two dogs, and me. They were responsive, helpful, and great to work with from start to finish. We highly recommend renting from Julia and Mark and wouldn’t hesitate to book with them again!

Excellent communication! We had the RV dropped at a very busy location and the communication and meet up were excellent. The RV was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. We cooked all of our meals, the kitchen setup had all the pots, pans, and utensils to cook all our meals. It was hot and the air conditioner worked great. Bedding for all beds was supplied and we were very comfortable. Lots of extras were supplied to make our camping experience comfortable. For example, we had several outdoor rugs to help control mud and weeds, camp chairs, extra hand lights to use at night, lots of towels were stocked up in the bathroom, extra cozy blankets for lounging on the couches. Indoor/Outdoor lights and electric awning were excellent for hanging outside the RV. We appreciated all the extra touches and for the extra help of getting the RV to our busy location!

Would definitely rent again from Crystal! Camper was amazing communication was great set up was easy.

How to book near Erin
Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park uses the Tennessee State Parks online reservation system, with campsites bookable up to twelve months ahead of arrival. Most campsites require a two-night minimum, check-in is 4:00 pm, and check-out is noon. Because the Happy Hollow and Lakefront Campgrounds are currently closed for renovations, confirm availability with the park office before planning around state-park sites.
Private parks such as Hidden Haven, Elk Harbor Lakeside RV Park, Dixieland Country Cabins and Campground, and Loretta Lynn's Ranch each handle bookings directly through their own websites. For Loretta Lynn's Ranch, weekends tied to concerts, motocross events, and ranch tours drive demand, so reserve early and check the event calendar before locking dates.
What to expect in Erin
Expect a mix of rural highway driving, gravel county roads, and hilly approaches to lake-area campgrounds. Cell coverage is uneven once travelers leave the main routes. At Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park, staff recommend using the park office street address for GPS rather than the park name, because the park name routes drivers to a back gate on a longer path with no cell reception.
Site characteristics vary widely. State park loops tend to be wooded with older bathhouses, while private RV parks near the lake lean toward open sites with full hookups. At Loretta Lynn's Ranch, the premier Stagecoach Hill campground offers paved 50-amp full-hookup sites, but the property sits on hills, so some leveling is often needed, and visitors with 30-amp rigs should bring an adapter.

How much does an RV rental in Erin, TN typically cost?
An RV rental in Erin, TN is one of the more affordable ways to explore Middle Tennessee. On RVezy you will typically find travel trailers from around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes from roughly $150 to $250, and larger Class A rigs from $200 to $375, depending on season, age, and amenities. Because Erin sits in rural Houston County rather than a tourist hub, nightly rates often run lower than what you would see in Nashville or Pigeon Forge. To score a cheap RV rental in Erin, TN, aim for weekday pickups, book 6 to 8 weeks out, and filter for Instant Book listings to spot the best value. Booking a longer 5 to 7 night trip also often unlocks weekly discounts that hosts set themselves.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Erin%2C%20TennesseeWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Erin, TN?
Good news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Erin, TN. Tennessee does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for the motorhomes and travel trailers available on RVezy, even larger Class A coaches. Renters generally need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID right through the platform during checkout, so there is no paperwork to mail or in-person visits. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you are set. Most guests are surprised how quickly the verification clears, often within a few hours of booking.

Yes, every RV rental in Erin, TN booked through RVezy automatically includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road feeling covered. The protection plan helps cover most physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level (not the host) during checkout, letting you dial in the peace of mind that fits your budget. It provides meaningful financial protection for renters exploring the back roads of Houston County and beyond. Pro tip: take a few timestamped photos of the rig at pickup and drop-off, which makes any post-trip questions easy to resolve.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Erin RV trip?
Every RVezy booking comes with a cancellation policy set by RVezy, not the individual host. There is a money-back grace period right after you book, so you are not locked in the moment you click confirm, and additional considerations apply depending on how far out from your trip you cancel. Because the policy considers several factors, the easiest move is to review the current details in the RVezy Help Center before finalizing. If your host has to cancel, RVezy refunds your booking or offers travel credits so you can rebook with confidence. Booking early gives you the most flexibility to adjust if plans shift.

Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you will see hosts who welcome dogs (and often cats too), sometimes for a small cleaning fee they set themselves. Houston County is delightfully dog-friendly: leashed pups are welcome on the trails at nearby Montgomery Bell State Park, along Cumberland River access points, and at most local outfitters. Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, about an hour west, also allows leashed pets on most trails and at Piney Campground. Pack a tie-out, a collapsible water bowl, and proof of rabies vaccination, since some Tennessee state park campgrounds ask to see it at check-in.

They will level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Popular drop-off spots include Piney Campground at Land Between the Lakes and Montgomery Bell State Park. Delivery fees are typically per-mile and set by the host, so message them for a quick quote.

Spring brings highs in the 65 to 80 degree Fahrenheit range with dogwoods and redbuds blooming across Houston County, while fall delivers crisp 55 to 75 degree days and brilliant oak and hickory color along the Cumberland River. Summer (June to August) is warm and humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, perfect for swimming at Kentucky Lake but worth picking a rig with strong air conditioning. Winters are mild, with highs typically in the mid 40s to low 50s, so off-season rentals are absolutely doable. Local insider tip: time your visit to mid-March for Erin's famous Irish Day celebration.
weather.gov/ohx/I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay starting from Erin?
You will be in good shape. Erin is actually a great launchpad for a first time renting an RV. Houston County's roads are calm and rural, with low-traffic two-lanes like Highway 13 and Highway 49 giving you room to get comfortable before tackling anything bigger. Your RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup, covering everything from leveling jacks to dumping tanks, and they are a text away during your trip. If you are nervous, start with a campervan or smaller Class C, or book a host with delivery so you skip driving altogether. Pro tip: do a slow practice loop in a large empty lot before hitting the highway to get a feel for turning radius and braking.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if I break down during my RV rental in Erin, TN?
You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Erin, TN booked on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 13 or a battery hiccup at Land Between the Lakes is just a phone call away from being handled. Help can dispatch tows, tire service, jump-starts, lockout assistance, and fuel delivery anywhere in Tennessee. Your host is also your first text for quick questions, like how to reset the inverter or relight the water heater. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone before pickup and snap a photo of the RV's VIN plate, it speeds up dispatch if you ever need it.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat are the best RV road trips from Erin, TN?
An RV road trip from Erin opens up some of the South's most scenic country. Head about 70 miles southeast to Nashville for honky-tonks and Centennial Park, or 55 miles west to Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area for 170,000 acres of forest, elk, and bison. The Natchez Trace Parkway is within easy reach and runs all the way to Mississippi. Memphis sits 165 miles southwest for barbecue and Beale Street, and the Great Smoky Mountains are roughly 250 miles east. Cross-border trips into Kentucky (Mammoth Cave is about 110 miles north) are perfectly fine on RVezy rentals. Note that travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy booking due to insurance coverage limits.
nps.gov/natr/index.htmWhat should I budget for fuel on an Erin, TN RV trip?
Fuel is easy to plan for. Expect a Class C motorhome to get about 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG), a larger Class A around 6 to 8 MPG, a campervan rental in Erin, TN around 16 to 20 MPG, and a tow setup with a travel trailer roughly 10 to 13 MPG. Tennessee tends to have some of the lower gas prices in the country, often running below the national average. There is a convenient fuel stop in downtown Erin on Highway 13 and several truck-friendly stations along I-24 in Clarksville. Watch for low railroad underpasses in some small downtowns (always know your rig's height, usually posted on the dash). Spring can bring thunderstorms and occasional tornado watches between March and May, so check the National Weather Service before long drives. Payment is simple and secure, all handled through RVezy with no cash exchanged with the host. You pay the rental total (nightly rate, fees, chosen protection plan, and any add-ons) through the platform when you book, using a major credit or debit card. A separate refundable security deposit, set by each host, is pre-authorized on your card before the trip and released after drop-off, assuming the RV comes back in the same condition. To avoid any holdups, do a thorough walkthrough video at pickup and drop-off and return the rig with the fuel and propane levels matching the start. Pro tip: a quick post-trip wipe-down often means a faster deposit release.

Yes, winter RV camping in Erin, TN is a quiet, scenic option many travelers overlook. Houston County winters are mild, with highs typically in the 40s to low 50s Fahrenheit and only occasional light snow, so you can absolutely keep traveling December through February. Paris Landing State Park offers year-round camping with full hookups along Kentucky Lake. Pro tip: book a host with a quality propane heater and bring an extra small electric space heater, you will stay toasty even on a frosty Cumberland River morning.
