Campgrounds and RV parks near Kingsport, TN

Water is central to the area. Warriors' Path State Park fronts Fort Patrick Henry Lake, with a marina, boat and kayak rentals, hiking trails, a nationally recognized golf course, and a mountain-bike trail system. Bays Mountain Park, inside Kingsport, adds wildlife exhibits, a planetarium, and lake-loop trails suitable for kids. Day trips are easy. Bristol Motor Speedway, the Birthplace of Country Music Museum in Bristol, and historic Jonesborough are all within an hour. Natural Tunnel State Park draws visitors for its 850-foot limestone tunnel, cut through a ridge and still used by an active Norfolk Southern rail line, with a seasonal chairlift down to the tunnel floor. Anglers fish the Holston and South Fork Holston tailwaters for trout and smallmouth, and cyclists use the paved greenways that connect neighborhoods to the state park.

Kingsport has a humid subtropical climate with hot, wet summers and cool winters, and campgrounds operate on distinct schedules. Warriors' Path State Park keeps a large block of sites open year-round with electric and water hookups, while its full complement of loops is busiest from spring through leaf season. Bristol / Kingsport KOA Holiday operates year-round and runs family programming through the warm months. Across the state line, Natural Tunnel State Park's camping season runs from the first Friday in March through the first Monday in December, while its cabins, lodge, and Cove Ridge accommodations stay open year-round. The park's pool operates between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and the chairlift runs daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day, then on weekends only through the last full weekend of October. Summer weekends fill first, especially around Bristol Motor Speedway race weekends in the spring and late summer, which pull RV traffic across the entire Tri-Cities. Fall color peaks in mid to late October and is the second demand spike. Winter is quiet, with occasional snow and some seasonal amenities closed, but hookup sites remain available.

Expect a mix of ridge-top and lakeside sites at Warriors' Path, with wooded, shaded lots. Some sites are tight for longer rigs plus a tow vehicle, so check length limits when booking; the park lists a 40-foot maximum, and campers report that a few labeled long sites can still be a challenge to back into. Bristol / Kingsport KOA Holiday offers pull-through sites, a pool, playground, jumping pillow, a dog park, and the on-site Rocky Branch Cafe. Multiple reviewers note that the interior roads are hilly and narrow with some unlevel sites, so plan a slow entry with a larger rig. Cell service is generally solid across the Kingsport metro. Grocery, fuel, and RV supplies are minutes from most sites, and firewood should be bought locally or at the campground to comply with Tennessee's don't-move-firewood guidance.
