Campgrounds and RV parks near Rossville, TN

Most trips out of Rossville pair rural quiet with a day or two in Memphis. Graceland, Sun Studio, Beale Street, the National Civil Rights Museum, and the Memphis Zoo are all within an easy drive, and Shelby Farms Park next to Agricenter RV Park provides roughly 4,500 acres of trails, lakes, disc golf, BMX tracks, and a resident bison herd for families staying on that side of town. Closer to Rossville, the Wolf River bottomlands offer paddling and wildlife viewing, and the Ghost River section is a well-known flatwater trip. South of the state line, Front - Wall Doxey State Park centers on a 60-acre spring-fed lake with fishing, swimming, a nature trail, and two 18-hole disc golf courses. Holly Springs National Forest adds hiking and dispersed recreation nearby.

The Rossville area has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers, mild winters, and rainfall spread across every month. Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons for RV travel, with warm days, cooler nights, and lower humidity than the peak of summer. Spring also brings the strongest severe-weather risk in the region, with thunderstorms and occasional tornadoes most common from March through May. Summer temperatures routinely climb into the 90s Fahrenheit with high humidity, so shaded sites and 50 amp service for air conditioning become important. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, and mosquitoes are heavy in the wooded state parks. Fall is a favorite window: warm, drier weather, thinner crowds, and hardwood color through October into early November. Winters are generally mild but can swing quickly. Freezing nights are common from December through February, and the region sees occasional ice storms and light snow. Most private RV parks stay open year round, and Front - Wall Doxey State Park is also open year round.

Sites in this area lean practical rather than scenic. Agricenter RV Park offers a large, open, mostly pull-through layout with paved roads, 30 and 50 amp service, full and partial hookups, laundry, and community showers, but limited shade and few resort-style amenities. It works well as a safe, central base for Memphis sightseeing rather than a destination in itself. Front - Wall Doxey State Park has developed sites with water and electric hookups, a central dump station, bathhouses with hot showers, and wooded primitive sites for tents. Pads are mostly asphalt or concrete, though some sites slope. Cell coverage is generally good across the region. Expect warm, humid conditions much of the year, insects in the woods from late spring through early fall, and quick-moving thunderstorms. Bring a water pressure regulator and a filter, since some campers recommend filtering the tap supply at area parks.
