Campgrounds near Tellico Village
Tellico Village sits on the shoreline of Tellico Lake in Loudon County, East Tennessee, roughly 30 miles south of Knoxville and within an hour of the Great Smoky Mountains. The reservoir was built by the Tennessee Valley Authority on the Little Tennessee River, and most nearby campgrounds are lakefront properties operated under TVA partnership agreements or as private lakeside parks.
RV renters have several practical options close to the village. Lotterdale Cove Campground and Lotterdale Cove Campground TRDA sit across the lake in Greenback and offer wooded and waterfront sites with electric and water hookups, a beach, and a boat ramp. Yarberry Campground and Yarberry Peninsula Campground occupy a peninsula near Fort Loudoun Dam in Lenoir City, with lake views from most sites and 20/30/50-amp service.
Lazy Acres RV Park, off Jackson Bend Road in Lenoir City, is a nearby full-service RV option that works well for travelers who want quick access to shopping, restaurants, and the interstate.
Things to do around Tellico Village
The lake is the main attraction. Boating, pontoon rentals, kayaking, paddleboarding, and largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing are all standard on Tellico and Fort Loudoun lakes. Yarberry Campground rents watercraft ranging from paddleboards to pontoons, and Lotterdale Cove has a swimming beach, boat slips, and a boat ramp on site.
On land, families can visit the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum in Vonore, tour Fort Loudoun State Historic Park, or drive the Cherohala Skyway into the mountains. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance at Townsend is about 40 minutes east, giving RV travelers easy access to trails, tubing on the Little River, and Cades Cove wildlife loops as day trips from camp.

Peak camping season on Tellico Lake runs from spring through fall. Tellico Lake Campgrounds properties, which include Lotterdale Cove, operate from March through November and close for the winter. Yarberry Campground and Lazy Acres RV Park generally stay open year-round, with heated and air-conditioned bathhouses at Yarberry for shoulder-season comfort.
Spring brings mild temperatures, higher lake levels, and wildflowers, though March is the wettest month and thunderstorms are common through May. Summer is hot and humid, with daytime highs regularly in the upper 80s and busy weekends on the water. Reserve summer holiday weekends well in advance, since many lakefront sites at Yarberry and Lotterdale are held by seasonal residents.
Fall offers the best mix of comfortable weather, lower humidity, and fewer crowds, with foliage color in the surrounding Cherokee National Forest peaking in late October. Winter camping is limited but possible at the year-round parks.

How to book near Tellico Village
Reservation systems vary by property. Lotterdale Cove Campground takes bookings through Campspot and by phone with the on-site office. Yarberry Campground, operated by Vista Recreation under a Tennessee Valley Authority partnership agreement, accepts online reservations through Campspot and phone bookings directly with the office.
Lazy Acres RV Park handles reservations directly through the operator. For summer weekends, plan to book two to three months out, and longer for waterfront sites. Confirm rig length limits when reserving, since some Yarberry sites are size-restricted, and verify hookup type: Lotterdale Cove offers electric and water but no sewer at the site, with a dump station and honey wagon service available in the area.
What to expect at Tellico Village campgrounds
Most campgrounds in the area are gated, professionally managed, and lean toward a quiet, family-friendly atmosphere. Sites at Yarberry, Lotterdale Cove, and Lotterdale Cove Campground TRDA are typically large, gravel, and reasonably level, with picnic tables and fire rings. A meaningful share of sites at both parks are occupied by seasonal or long-term residents, so transient RV renters should book specific site numbers when possible.
Cell coverage is generally good, and Wi-Fi is offered at several parks but can be slow near the water. The access road into Lotterdale Cove has been reported as rough in spots. Alcohol policies vary by campground, and Lotterdale Cove enforces a no-alcohol policy, so check park rules before arrival.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Tellico%20Village%2C%20TennesseeDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Tellico Village?
Good news, a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Tellico Village. Tennessee does not require a Commercial Driver License (CDL) or a special endorsement for personal recreational vehicle use, even for larger Class A motorhomes. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid driver's license, and ID verification happens right inside the booking flow, so there are no extra trips to a DMV. Around Tellico Village, the roads are forgiving: Highway 444 through the Village and Highway 72 toward Loudon are wide and flat with light traffic, making them ideal practice routes. fs.usda.gov/cherokeeHow much should I budget for fuel on a Tellico Village RV trip?
Fuel is one of the more predictable parts of your budget. Tennessee consistently has some of the lower gas prices in the country, typically running below the national average, which is great news for your wallet. Plan for roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon for a Class A motorhome, 10 to 14 mpg for a Class C, and 15 or better for a campervan or your own truck towing a travel trailer. A typical 200-mile loop from Tellico Village to Gatlinburg and back will run roughly $60 to $90 in fuel at current prices. Pro tip: fill up at the Pilot or Love's near I-75 Exit 60 in Sweetwater before heading deep into the Smokies, where prices climb.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Tellico Village?
For the best sites, book your campground 3 to 6 months ahead, especially for summer weekends and October leaf season. Tennessee State Parks like Fort Loudoun take reservations through the official tnstateparks.com system up to a year in advance, and Tellico Reservoir Development Agency campgrounds (Toqua, Lotterdale Cove, Notchy Creek) book through tellico.com. Insider tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) at Toqua often have lakefront openings even in July, so if your dates are flexible, you can score a premium site closer to the trip date.
tnstateparks.com/parks/reservationsWhat are local driving conditions like around Tellico Village?
Driving around Tellico Village is relaxing compared to most US destinations. The Village's main roads (Highway 444 and Tellico Parkway) are wide, well-maintained, and rarely congested. Highway 72 and Highway 411 connect you to I-75 and I-40 with easy on/off ramps suited to big rigs. Watch for steeper grades and curves on TN-165 (the Cherohala Skyway) and especially TN-129 (Tail of the Dragon), which has 318 curves in 11 miles and is not recommended for any RV. Summer thunderstorms can pop up in the afternoon, so plan to drive in the morning when possible. Locals know to avoid I-40 east through Knoxville at rush hour.

Popular extras in the Tellico Village area include linen and kitchen kits, generator hours, bike racks, kayak racks, and outdoor grills, with delivery and setup typically priced per mile from the host's location. Pickup is usually at the host's home in nearby Lenoir City, Loudon, or Vonore, but many will deliver directly to your Toqua or Notchy Creek campsite. Pro tip: ask about a propane top-off and a tank dump add-on at return, it is often cheaper than handling it yourself.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Tellico%20Village%2C%20TennesseeHow do payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple, secure, and all handled through RVezy. You pay the rental total when you book, and a separate refundable security deposit is associated with your trip, all processed inside the platform, no cash and no transfers with the host. The security deposit is held in case of damage and released back to your card after your trip, typically within a few days once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To avoid issues, do a quick walkthrough video at pickup and return, return with the same fuel and propane levels, and message any concerns through the RVezy app so there is a clear record.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I take my Tellico Village RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Cross-border road trips are part of the fun. Most RVezy hosts in Tellico Village welcome travel throughout the US, including popular runs into North Carolina (Asheville, Great Smoky Mountains, Cherokee), Georgia (Chattanooga to Savannah), and Kentucky (Mammoth Cave). Trips into Canada may be allowed depending on the host's specific listing and protection coverage, so message before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because protection coverage does not extend there. Insider tip: a campervan rental Tellico Village trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway in mid-October is one of the best fall drives in America, with the southern entry only a couple of hours away.
