Campgrounds and RV parks near Trimble, TN

Trimble sits in Dyer County in northwest Tennessee, roughly a half-hour drive from the Reelfoot Lake basin and about twenty minutes from Union City. RV travelers using Trimble as a base have access to a small mix of public and private campgrounds, ranging from state-park lakeside sites to full-hookup commercial parks aimed at longer stays. The closest state-park camping is at Reelfoot Lake, a shallow flooded cypress forest created by the New Madrid earthquakes of the early nineteenth century. The park runs two separate campgrounds on opposite ends of the lake: the larger South Campground on Highway 21/22 and the smaller Airpark North Campground on Highway 213. Both accommodate RVs and are open year-round. Private options within a short drive include Union City RV Park, Coyote View RV Park and RV Repair (a big-rig-friendly park in the surrounding farmland with full hookups), and Sportsmans Resort at Reelfoot Lake. These fill the gap for travelers wanting sewer hookups, weekly and monthly rates, or on-site repair services that state park campgrounds do not offer.

Reelfoot Lake State Park sites at both the South and Airpark North campgrounds are booked through the Tennessee State Parks reservation system online or by phone at 888-TNPARKS. Reservations can be made up to one year in advance, and a non-refundable five-dollar advanced reservation fee applies per campsite. Most sites require a minimum two-night stay. Cancellations made two or more days before arrival receive a refund of campground fees minus the reservation fee; cancellations closer to arrival forfeit part or all of the first night's cost. Check-in is 4:00 p.m. and check-out is noon. Campers arriving after hours can go directly to a pre-registered site or check in with the campground host. Private parks such as Union City RV Park, Coyote View RV Park and RV Repair, and Sportsmans Resort are booked directly with the operator. For spring fishing weekends around Reelfoot Lake, book several weeks to months out.
