Campgrounds and RV parks near Appleby, TX

Appleby sits in the Piney Woods of East Texas, just north of Nacogdoches in Nacogdoches County. The area is rolling pine and hardwood forest with easy access to US Highway 59, which puts most private RV parks, national forest campgrounds, and lake sites within a short drive. Terrain is gentle, roads are wide, and there are no mountain passes to plan around, which keeps travel days low-stress for larger rigs. RV renters staying near Appleby have a mix of options. Red Barn RV Park and Fairway RV Park sit closest to town with full hookups and paved access, while Nacogdoches RV Park offers another in-town base near restaurants and services. For a wooded setting with more space between sites, Camp Tonkawa Springs RV Park and Campground in nearby Garrison and Whispering Pines RV Park and Lodging give a quieter, forested feel. Beyond the private parks, the Davy Crockett and Angelina national forests and Sam Rayburn Reservoir add federal campgrounds within an hour, useful for longer trips that mix hookup nights with lake days.

Private parks like Red Barn RV Park, Nacogdoches RV Park, Fairway RV Park, and Whispering Pines RV Park and Lodging typically take reservations directly by phone or through their websites. For private RV parks around Nacogdoches, 2 to 4 weeks ahead is usually plenty outside of SFA football weekends and the Azalea Festival. For Texas State Parks such as Mission Tejas, reserve through the official Texas Parks and Wildlife booking system up to 5 months ahead, especially for spring and fall weekends when sites sell out fast. National Forest campgrounds in the Davy Crockett and Angelina national forests, including Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area, book through Recreation.gov and open 6 months in advance. Midweek arrivals at Texas State Parks almost always have openings even in peak season.
