Campgrounds and RV parks near Big Sandy, TX

Big Sandy sits in Upshur County in the East Texas Piney Woods, west of Gladewater and Longview along U.S. Highway 80. The town lies in a corridor of pine forest, small lakes, and county roads, with the Sabine River flowing just to the south. That geography makes it a practical base for RV travelers exploring northeast Texas. Camping options near town range from small full-hookup parks to a full family resort. Logan's Way Tiny Home & RV Park and the nearby Logan's Way RV Park sit in Winona, a short drive south, and Lake Hawkins RV Park occupies roughly 55 acres, half wooded, on Lake Hawkins in Wood County, with about 1,800 feet of shoreline including 700 feet of white-sand beach. Watts RV Park Rental Cabins offers cabin lodging for renters who want a fixed structure instead of a rig, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Whispering Pines sits on 107 acres in the rolling hills of the East Texas Piney Woods north of Tyler. Tyler State Park anchors the region's public camping and sits within easy driving distance, giving RV travelers a mix of private parks with hookups and a state-run campground with lake access, trails, and shaded sites in the pines.

Public and private parks use different systems, so plan the booking method before locking in dates. At Tyler State Park, full hookup, electric, water-only campsites, and cabins can all be reserved up to 5 months in advance through the Texas State Parks reservation system. A 2-night minimum stay applies for all Friday and Saturday night reservations there. For private parks, Lake Hawkins RV Park takes RV bookings online and by phone at 903-769-4545, with a 7-day cancellation policy and a call-in process for tent reservations. Logan's Way RV Park handles reservations directly through its site. Jellystone Park: Whispering Pines books through the resort. Weekends during spring break, summer, and themed event weekends fill first, so reserve early and check deposit and cancellation terms before confirming.
