Campgrounds and RV parks near Clint, TX

The major regional draw is Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site, known worldwide for bouldering, pictographs, and birding. The park is split into self-guided North Mountain and the guided East Mountain, East Spur, and West Mountain areas, with North Mountain limited to 70 visitors at one time. Wildlife includes over 200 bird species along with toads, barred tiger salamanders, diamondback rattlesnakes, coyotes, foxes, and skunks. Franklin Mountains State Park, on El Paso's north side, offers extensive hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing across rugged Chihuahuan desert terrain. The historic Wyler Aerial Tramway in the park is closed due to safety concerns while TPWD works with local partners on its future, so plan for trail-based access. Closer to Clint, the Mission Trail links the historic Ysleta, Socorro, and San Elizario missions. White Sands National Park and Guadalupe Mountains National Park are within day-trip range for travelers willing to drive.

The Clint and El Paso area has a desert climate with four distinct camping windows. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 100°F in this desert region, making spring and fall the most comfortable camping seasons. Typically 27 days a year see the temperature peak at 100 °F or more. Spring brings warm days, low humidity, and the season's strongest winds, which can rock high-profile rigs and push dust across the basin. Late summer is the North American monsoon: most of the precipitation falls in September, averaging about 36 mm. Brief but intense thunderstorms can flood arroyos and gravel access roads. Fall is the prime stretch, with cooler nights and clear skies. Winter days are usually sunny and mild, but freezing temperatures have shown up as early as October and lingered into March, with about 42 frosty nights a year, most hovering just below 32°F and followed by daytime temperatures above freezing. Freshwater hose insulation is worth packing from late November through February.

Sites in the El Paso area are predominantly concrete or gravel pads with full hookups. El Paso Roadrunner RV Park offers full-hookup sites with both 50-amp and 30-amp connections year-round, with concrete pads that accommodate large motorhomes although spaces are positioned close together. Mission RV Park includes big-rig friendly spaces with 50-amp service, water, and sewer, and most parks maintain showers, restrooms, and dump stations. Water pressure varies between parks, with some reporting unusually high pressure that warrants a regulator. Cell service is inconsistent throughout the area, with better coverage at RV parks closer to El Paso than at more remote state park locations. Expect wind, blowing dust, and intense sun: awnings should be stowed when leaving the rig, and shade and ample drinking water are essentials from May through September.
