East Tawakoni sits on the east shore of Lake Tawakoni, a 37,879-acre reservoir on the Sabine River whose surface covers portions of Hunt, Rains, and Van Zandt counties. The town is a small lake community roughly an hour east of Dallas, and its RV inventory is built around water access: full-hookup resorts, marina-adjacent parks, and a state park on the south shore. Options closest to town include Lake Tawakoni RV Campground, Anchor Inn Marina and Resort, North Shore Landing RV Park, Cabins and Guest House, and East Texas RV Park. These properties range from members-oriented resorts to smaller family-run parks with cabins and boat access. Anchor Inn Marina and Resort sits across the lake in West Tawakoni and offers full-hookup RV sites, cabins, and a boat ramp. For a public-land alternative, Lake Tawakoni State Park is a 376.3-acre park in Hunt County on the south central shore of the reservoir, opened in 2002 under a lease agreement with the Sabine River Authority and managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, roughly a half-hour drive around the lake from town.

For Lake Tawakoni State Park, use the Texas State Parks reservation system. Full hookup campsites can be reserved for today and up to 5 months in advance. Group sites are handled separately: check group site availability and make reservations by calling (512) 389-8920. The park phone number is 903-560-7123, and after-hours arrivals without a reservation should follow the instructions on a self-pay envelope and go to campsites 1, 2, 3 or 4. Private parks each run their own booking. Lake Tawakoni RV Campground is a Thousand Trails property, so members book through the Thousand Trails system; non-members should call ahead to confirm availability. Anchor Inn Marina and Resort, North Shore Landing RV Park, Cabins and Guest House, and East Texas RV Park take direct reservations by phone or through their websites.
