Campgrounds and RV parks near Freeport, TX

Freeport sits at the mouth of the Brazos River on the upper Texas Gulf Coast, roughly an hour south of Houston in Brazoria County. It is a working port city surrounded by beaches, wildlife refuges, and quiet fishing communities, which makes it a practical base for RV travelers who want coastal access without Galveston's crowds. The coastal region of Texas experiences a humid subtropical climate, characterized by hot, humid summers and mild to cool winters, with a fair amount of rainfall, particularly during the hurricane season which extends from June to November. Bryan Beach, Quintana Beach, and Surfside Beach are all within about ten miles of town. RV options here range from full-hookup parks close to town to beach-adjacent county sites. Oyster Creek RV Ranch and Kountry Ranch RV Park sit north of the harbor near FM 523, while Freeport Friendly RV Park, Windswept RV Park, and Shipmans Landing RV Park are closer to the Highway 332 corridor toward Surfside. Expect flat, low-elevation terrain, easy pull-throughs at most parks, and heavy petrochemical industry to the west. Sites near the coast are exposed to steady Gulf wind, which most RVers appreciate in summer but should plan for when leveling and awning use.

Most parks around Freeport are privately owned and take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Oyster Creek RV Ranch, Kountry Ranch RV Park, Freeport Friendly RV Park, Windswept RV Park, and Shipmans Landing RV Park all handle bookings this way. Third-party platforms such as RoverPass and Campendium list several of these parks as well. Quintana Beach County Park is open all year and is managed by the Brazoria County parks department; sites go quickly for holiday weekends and the summer school break. A three-night minimum applies on Memorial Day and Labor Day, and registered overnight campers are exempt from the summer day-use parking fee. For winter stays, contact private parks well ahead, as monthly rates and snowbird blocks fill early.
