Campgrounds near Josephine, Texas
Josephine sits in southeastern Collin County, roughly 24 miles northeast of Garland and just a few miles from the eastern arm of Lavon Lake. The town serves as a quieter base for RV travelers who want access to the Dallas metroplex without parking inside it, with most nearby campgrounds clustered along the US-380, SH-78, and I-30 corridors.
Options range from full-service private parks to Corps of Engineers lakeside campgrounds. Closest to Josephine are Dallas Fate RV Park and Holiday Road Travel Center along the I-30 corridor, plus Dallas Northeast Campground, Lakeland RV Ranch, and North Texas RV Park in the surrounding communities. Most offer full hookups suited to Class A, Class C, and travel trailer rentals.
Lavon Lake is a 21,400-acre reservoir on the East Fork tributary of the Trinity River in Collin County northeast of Dallas, about 4 miles northeast of Wylie on Texas Highway 78. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District manages the lake from an office in Wylie, providing water supply, flood control, and recreation including fishing, camping, and boating. Its parks anchor most of the public camping within a short drive of Josephine.
Things to do near Josephine
Lavon Lake drives most outdoor plans. The lake is stocked with crappie, striped bass, largemouth bass, white bass, flathead catfish, channel catfish, and blue catfish. The official swimming areas are at Mallard Park, East Fork Park, Ticky Creek Park, Avalon Park, and Pebble Beach Park. Beaches are open from April through September with restrooms and picnic tables in the adjoining day-use areas.
A nine-mile equestrian and hiking trail runs between Brockdale Park and East Fork Park, and there is a separate primitive trail on 75 acres in Sister Grove Park for hiking and off-road bicycling. The Trinity Trail trailhead sits adjacent to East Fork Campground.
Off the water, the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney offers nature trails and exhibits that work well for families on a rain day, and historic downtown McKinney is a short drive west for shops and restaurants.

How to book campgrounds near Josephine
Public sites at Lavon Lake are managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with camping reservations at 1-877-444-6777 or recreation.gov. The Recreation.gov booking window is 6 months in advance on a rolling daily basis, with new dates released at 10:00 AM Eastern Time. Peak weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day fill early, so booking as soon as the window opens is recommended for holiday weekends.
Private parks such as Dallas Fate RV Park, Holiday Road Travel Center, Dallas Northeast Campground, Lakeland RV Ranch, and North Texas RV Park handle their own reservations directly by phone or website. Monthly stays are common at several of these parks, which can limit nightly availability.
Before booking, confirm RV length limits, hookup amperage, and pet policies with the specific park.
What to expect on-site
Corps of Engineers campgrounds around Lavon Lake typically offer paved pads with water and electric hookups at developed loops, plus water-only tent sites. East Fork Campground offers 50 sites with water and electric hookups and 12 tent-only sites; there are no sewer hookups at individual sites, but a dump station is located near the park entrance, and it is the only campground at Lavon Lake with 50-amp electricity. Hot showers, restrooms, and boat launches are standard at the larger parks. Fires are permitted only in pedestal or ground cookers provided.
Private parks near Josephine lean toward full hookups with 30/50-amp service, laundry, and small camp stores. Some, like Lakeland RV Ranch, cater to extended stays, so expect a mix of short-term travelers and monthly residents.
Quiet hours at Corps parks run 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., with camper check-out at 2 p.m., and the entrance gate closes at 10 p.m. and reopens at 10 a.m., with no vehicle entry allowed between those hours. Grocery, fuel, and RV supply stops are easy to reach in McKinney, Greenville, and Wylie.

Refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel, so the earlier you let RVezy know, the better. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to instantly see hosts who offer this service, and check each listing for the per-mile delivery fee. Pro tip: bundling delivery with setup means you skip the towing, the backing-in, and the learning curve entirely.

For minor questions, your host is usually a quick text away too. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number and roadside number in your phone before pickup, and snap a quick photo of the RV's VIN and license plate so you have key info ready if you ever need it.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Josephine RV trip?

Stop by Buc-ee's in Royse City on your way for the legendary brisket sandwiches and clean restrooms. Pro tip: pair a family RV trip Josephine weekend with a visit to the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney (about 25 minutes away) for a memorable add-on adventure.
