Anglers target largemouth bass and catfish on both Lewisville and Grapevine lakes. On Grapevine Lake, The Vineyards Campground and Cabins adds a playground, private sandy beach, fishing pier, kayaking, and a private nature trail. The Northshore Trail runs along the north side of Grapevine Lake and offers roughly 22 miles of hiking and mountain biking single-track. Afternoon highs regularly sit in the mid-90s Fahrenheit from June through August, and shaded sites or full-hookup pads with air conditioning are the practical choice. Late summer also brings drought and burn bans, so check the Denton County or Tarrant County burn ban status before arrival, since charcoal and wood fires are often prohibited during dry stretches. Fall cools through October and November and remains the most comfortable stretch for RV travel. Winter is mild but variable, with occasional freezes and ice storms that can close roads for a day or two. Most private and city-run campgrounds around the two lakes stay open year-round, though the community water spigot at Murrell Park is shut off during winter months.
