Campgrounds and RV parks near Lakewood Village, TX

Lewisville Lake anchors most trip planning. Hidden Cove Park encompasses 720 acres of recreation along the lake, with tent, screened shelter, cabin, bunkhouse, and RV sites, plus boat ramps, sandy beachfront, bank fishing, horseshoe courts, a playground, pavilions, picnic areas, BBQ grills, a sand volleyball court, a fish cleaning station, and restrooms with showers. Kayaks, paddleboards, and pontoon and ski boats can be rented at the on-site marina. Families staying farther south can pair camp time with metro attractions. Sandy Lake MH and RV Resort sits across the street from Sandy Lake Amusement Park, and the surrounding Dallas-Fort Worth area adds professional sports, shopping, and museums within a short drive. Stargazing is a low-effort evening activity thanks to the town's dark-sky designation, and shoreline hiking and bank fishing are easy day-trip options along the lake.

North Texas has a humid subtropical climate with a wide annual temperature range, so timing matters for RV comfort. Spring (March through May) is the most popular time to visit: temperatures are mild, wildflowers appear, and the lake fills with weekend traffic. It is also the region's most active severe-weather window, with thunderstorms, hail, and occasional tornadoes possible, so travelers should monitor local warnings and choose sites with good drainage. Summer runs hot and humid, with daytime highs commonly in the 90s Fahrenheit and roughly 20 days per year reaching 100°F or above at the DFW airport station. Lakeside campgrounds book up on holiday weekends, and shaded or waterfront sites are worth reserving early. Fall brings cooler, drier weather from September into November and is often considered the most comfortable stretch for RV camping. Winters are generally mild, with daytime highs in the 50s Fahrenheit, but brief hard freezes and occasional ice storms do occur, averaging around 29 freezes per season. Some private parks stay open year-round, while certain lakefront amenities such as marinas and rental concessions run seasonal hours. Confirm hookups, water status, and gate hours directly with each campground before a winter arrival.

Campgrounds close to Lakewood Village fall into two categories. Lakefront parks such as Hidden Cove offer larger, more natural sites with beach and boat-ramp access; the park is home to 34 concrete 40-foot RV sites with electricity and water hookups, and additional tent, shelter, cabin, and bunkhouse options. Select RV sites include sewer. Metro-area RV resorts trend toward paved pull-throughs, full hookups, pools, and laundry, with less shade but more on-site amenities. Sandy Lake offers 219 full-hookup sites with WiFi, cable, pool, laundry and bathhouse facilities, and an on-site grocery store, representative of the private-park experience in the area. Cell coverage is generally strong across the Metroplex. Plan for hot pavement in summer, potential severe weather in spring, and a paid park-entry fee at Hidden Cove. Leashed pets are typically welcome, but rules vary by park.
