RV camping near Newark, Texas
Newark is a small city in extreme southeast Wise County, a short drive east of Eagle Mountain Lake and roughly 30 minutes northwest of downtown Fort Worth. The location puts renters within reach of a large North Texas reservoir on the West Fork of the Trinity River while keeping DFW airports, grocery, and repair services under an hour away.
Most RV options within a short drive are private, full-hookup parks rather than public campgrounds. Eagle Mountain Lake is a large, man-made reservoir in North Texas, formed by damming the West Fork of the Trinity River, spanning roughly 8,700 acres, and Sun Ridge RV Park and Clean Living RV Park sit closest to town. Avondale RV Park and Avondale RV Park 2 pick up overflow demand from lake traffic and workforce travelers, and The Pines RV Community rounds out the local supply for longer stays.
For a public-land trip, renters typically pair a Newark base with day drives to Eagle Mountain Park on the lake's east shore or to Lake Mineral Wells State Park, about an hour west, which offers reservable electric sites and trailway access.
Things to do around Newark
Eagle Mountain Lake anchors most trips. The lake offers a mix of recreational opportunities, from quiet coves for paddling and wildlife observation to open waters for powerboating and watersports, and is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and watersports, with public access through parks and marinas around the lake. Largemouth bass, white bass, catfish, and crappie are the main fishery targets.
An hour west, Lake Mineral Wells State Park adds more options. The park features over 31 miles of hiking trails, 25 miles of which are open to bicycles and horses, and Penitentiary Hollow, a somewhat unusual geological feature that resembles a small canyon, is a popular site for rock climbing, though the only type of climbing allowed is top rope. A designated swimming area sits on the lake.
For rainy afternoons or teen-friendly days, Fort Worth's Stockyards, Zoo, and Museum District are a straightforward drive south, and Grapevine and the Alliance area sit east for shopping and dining.

North Texas has hot, muggy summers and short, variable winters. August is typically the hottest month, with average highs in the mid-90s Fahrenheit and overnight lows in the mid-70s, so shaded, full-hookup sites with strong 50-amp service are worth prioritizing from June through August. Rainfall is lowest in mid-summer, with July averaging under two inches.
Spring is the most active severe-weather window. The National Weather Service treats March through June as the region's severe-weather season, and April and May are historically the peak tornado months in North Texas. May experiences the highest amount of precipitation, with an average value of 127 mm, about 5 inches, so renters should watch forecasts, know their park's shelter plan, and avoid low-water crossings after storms.
Early fall and late spring offer the most comfortable camping. Mid-March through mid-May and October into mid-November bring milder temperatures and lower humidity, which is why weekends in those windows book out first at lakeside parks.

This was our first time renting a RV. It drove like a truck or van, super easy! They were flexible on picking up as they stated. Our family really enjoyed being able to relax as we drove. We will definitely be renting from them again.

How to book
Private RV parks around Newark, including Sun Ridge RV Park, Clean Living RV Park, The Pines RV Community, Avondale RV Park, and Avondale RV Park 2, generally take reservations directly by phone, website, or through third-party RV booking platforms. Weekend and monthly demand runs highest in spring and fall, so lock dates in early for holiday weekends.
Public sites work differently. Texas Parks and Wildlife handles Lake Mineral Wells State Park through its online reservation system, with electric campsite reservations available up to 5 months in advance, and day passes required in addition to campsite fees. Group sites at that park are booked by calling (512) 389-8920.
Check rig length, hookup amperage, and pet rules before confirming, since older lake-area parks often have shorter pull-throughs.
What to expect on the ground
Expect a suburban-rural mix rather than backcountry. Roads into Newark off Farm Road 718 and the Morris Dido Newark corridor are paved and drivable in a Class A or larger fifth wheel, and cell coverage from major carriers is generally reliable across the Eagle Mountain Lake area.
Summer heat is the main planning factor. Afternoon highs regularly push into the 90s from June through August, humidity is high, and thunderstorms can build quickly. Renters should top off fresh water, keep awnings retracted when storms are forecast, and identify the nearest sturdy shelter at check-in.
Wildlife is limited to typical North Texas fare, deer, raccoons, and snakes near brush, so standard food storage and shoes-on-at-night habits are enough. Firewood should be bought locally to avoid moving pests.

On RVezy, you will typically find travel trailers starting around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes from $175 to $275, and larger Class A coaches from $250 to $400 a night. To book on RVezy, the primary driver generally needs to be at least 25 years old, and the platform verifies your ID securely during checkout. Visiting from overseas? Pick up an International Driving Permit from your home country's auto association before flying in. First time renting an RV? Most local campgrounds, including Northlake RV Resort and Lake Mineral Wells State Park, allow leashed pets on site. Message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee, then pack the water bowl.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-information/pets-in-parksCan a host deliver the RV to my campground or address in Newark?
Yes, RV delivery in Newark is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who do not want to drive a big rig. Filter by Delivery on the search page and you will see listings where the host brings the motorhome or travel trailer straight to your driveway or campground. They will level it, hook up water and power, prime the propane, and walk you through every switch before handing over the keys. Delivery fees in the Newark area commonly run a few dollars per mile round-trip, with many hosts offering free delivery within a set radius. Confirm the exact rate and any setup fee on the listing or by messaging the host. It is the easiest way to enjoy a Newark RV trip without ever towing a thing.

Lake Mineral Wells State Park (about 45 minutes southwest) offers paved pads, electric and water hookups, and shaded sites under post oaks. For lake lovers, Lynn Creek Park on Joe Pool Lake is roughly an hour east. tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/lake-mineral-wellsWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Newark, TX?
Spring and fall are the sweet spots for any Newark RV trip. From mid-March through May, daytime highs typically run a comfortable 65°F to 82°F and Texas bluebonnets bloom across the rolling Wise County hills. Late September through November is equally lovely, with highs in the 70s, lower humidity, and incredible sunsets over Eagle Mountain Lake. Winters stay mild (50s by day) and snow is rare, making it a smart, cheap RV rental window for Texas Motor Speedway fans.
weather.gov/fwd/I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay renting one in Newark?
You have got this, even if it is your first time renting an RV. Newark is an ideal launchpad: wide rural roads, gentle terrain, light traffic on FM 718 and Highway 114, and easy access to I-35W without DFW's downtown congestion. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering driving tips, leveling, slide-outs, tanks, and propane, and they stay reachable by text throughout your trip. If you would rather skip driving entirely, choose a Delivery listing and the host will set the RV up at your campsite. Pro tip: start with a Class C motorhome or a small travel trailer for the easiest handling, and do a practice loop near the Newark city park before pointing toward Eagle Mountain Lake.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if I have a breakdown or issue on the road near Newark?
You are never alone out there. Every RV rental in Newark includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the RVezy protection plan, so a flat tire on US-287, a dead battery at Lake Mineral Wells, or a tow off I-35W is just one call away. The roadside team coordinates tire changes, jump-starts, fuel delivery, lockout help, and towing to the nearest qualified shop. Your host is also a text away for quick troubleshooting (think reset breakers or pilot lights). RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip if you need anything escalated. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone before leaving the Newark pickup spot, so help is one tap away.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best road trips I can take from Newark, TX?
Newark sits in a sweet spot for an RV road trip. Popular Texas routes include: Newark to Fredericksburg Hill Country (about 250 miles south, perfect for wineries and Enchanted Rock), Newark to Big Bend National Park (around 540 miles west for desert canyons and dark skies), Newark to Possum Kingdom Lake (90 miles for cliffs and clear water), Newark to Caddo Lake State Park (200 miles east for cypress swamps), and Newark to Palo Duro Canyon (about 340 miles northwest, the Grand Canyon of Texas). Heading north into Oklahoma is also allowed on most listings. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Message your host to confirm any out-of-state plans, and they will often share favorite fuel stops along the way.
nps.gov/bibe/index.htmWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for in Newark, TX?
Fuel in Texas is among the cheapest in the country, which keeps your Newark RV trip budget friendly. Expect Class C motorhomes to average 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A gas coaches 7 to 10 mpg, campervans 16 to 20 mpg, and a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer around 10 to 14 mpg. Regular unleaded around Newark and nearby Rhome or Boyd typically runs below the national average. For a 4-night trip covering 400 miles in a Class C, budget roughly $140 to $200 for fuel. Pro tip: fill up at the Buc-ee's in Rhome (about 15 minutes south on US-287) before your trip for lower prices, clean restrooms, and Texas-sized snacks for the road.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Newark?
Booking ahead is the secret to a stress-free Newark RV trip. Texas state parks like Lake Mineral Wells and Cleburne State Park open reservations five months in advance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife online system, and weekend sites often fill the day they release, especially March through May. Private RV resorts such as Northlake RV Resort and The Vineyards Campground on Grapevine Lake usually book 6 to 8 weeks ahead for weekends, but mid-week sites are often available a few days out. LBJ National Grasslands sites can be reserved on Recreation.gov. Pro tip: if Texas Motor Speedway has a NASCAR race on your dates, book your campground at least 3 months ahead. Race weekends pack every park within 30 miles of Newark.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-information/reservationsWhat are driving conditions like around Newark, TX?
Driving conditions around Newark are about as RV-friendly as Texas gets. Roads are mostly flat to gently rolling, with wide shoulders on US-287, I-35W, and Highway 114, and traffic stays light once you are north of the DFW metroplex. Watch for two local quirks: spring thunderstorms (April through June) that can bring heavy rain, hail, and gusty winds, plus summer heat advisories that make midday tire pressure run high. Avoid driving tall rigs through downtown Fort Worth at rush hour; loop around on Highway 287 or the 820 beltway instead. Cell coverage is strong throughout Wise County. Pro tip: check the National Weather Service Fort Worth forecast each morning before pulling out, especially in tornado season from April to early June.
drivetexas.org/What hookups and amenities will I find at campgrounds near Newark?
Most campgrounds near Newark offer everything you need for an easy stay. Private parks like Northlake RV Resort and The Vineyards Campground provide full hookups, meaning 30/50-amp electric, fresh water, and sewer at the site, plus Wi-Fi, laundry, and pools. Texas state parks such as Lake Mineral Wells offer water and electric (30 or 50-amp) at most sites, with centralized dump stations for waste tanks. You can fill fresh water at the entrance station and dump tanks on your way out at no extra charge with your site reservation. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose, a sewer hose support, and a surge protector. Texas summer storms can spike the power, and a surge protector helps save your rental's electrical system.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/lake-mineral-wells/campingWhat features and amenities come inside a typical Newark RV rental?
You will be impressed by how well-equipped RVezy rentals in Newark are. Most motorhomes and travel trailers sleep 4 to 8 people across queen beds, bunks, and convertible dinettes, with a full kitchen (fridge/freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink), a wet or dry bathroom with shower and toilet, roof-mounted air conditioning (critical for Texas summers), a propane furnace for cool nights, and seatbelted seats for travel. Many hosts include flat-screen TVs, Bluetooth stereos, outdoor awnings, camp chairs, and even Starlink or hotspot Wi-Fi as add-ons. Generators are common on Class A and C rigs for boondocking near Eagle Mountain Lake. Pro tip: each listing has a detailed amenities checklist. Filter by sleeps count and scroll the photos to confirm the exact layout works for your crew.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Newark%2C%20TexasWhat add-ons, pickup options, and policies should I expect when I rent an RV in Newark?
Hosts in Newark make it easy to customize your trip. Common add-ons include linen and towel packages, kitchen kits, bikes, generators, propane fills, outdoor grills, and Starlink Wi-Fi. Mileage policies, generator-hour limits, and pet fees are clearly shown on each listing. For a motorhome rental in Newark with zero driving stress, choose Delivery and the host handles everything. Pro tip: use Instant Book listings if you are planning last-minute around a Texas Motor Speedway weekend so you can lock in dates without waiting for host approval.

Payment is simple and secure on RVezy. When you book your campervan rental in Newark (or any rig), you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card. No cash, no Venmo, no awkward owner handoffs. Most bookings split into an initial payment at booking and a balance due closer to the trip, all shown clearly at checkout. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after a smooth return, separate from your booking payment. To avoid issues, take time-stamped photos and a short walkaround video of the RV at pickup and at return, and refill propane and fuel as your host requests. Pro tip: keep all communication in the RVezy messaging thread for fast support.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park or stay overnight with an RV in and around Newark, TX?
You have plenty of legal overnight options around Newark. Inside city limits, RVs should be parked at a campground or on private property with the owner's permission rather than on public streets, in line with typical Wise County residential rules. Nearby options include Northlake RV Resort (full hookups, about 15 minutes south), The Vineyards Campground on Grapevine Lake (about 35 minutes east), Lake Mineral Wells State Park (about 45 minutes southwest), and LBJ National Grasslands dispersed sites (about 30 minutes north). Some Walmart locations in nearby Decatur and Roanoke may allow overnight RV parking with manager permission, which is great for a quick stopover. Pro tip: download the iOverlander or Campendium app to scout boondocking spots and reviews along your North Texas route before you roll out.
