Campgrounds and RV parks near Redwater, TX

Wright Patman Lake is the main draw. Atlanta State Park covers roughly 1,475 acres on the south shore and includes hiking trails, a shorter nature loop suited to kids, a swim beach, and a boat ramp. Boating, swimming, and shoreline fishing are the standard summer activities, and the park runs programs on geocaching, birding, and Caddo history. Off the water, Texarkana offers shopping, dining, and family attractions within a short drive. Day trips reach Jefferson for antebellum homes and a narrow-gauge train, Linden for music history and an April wildflower festival, and the Three States marker where Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana meet. Winter visitors can focus on bird-watching, when leaf-off makes waterbirds and raptors easier to spot along the lake.

The region has a humid subtropical climate with hot, muggy summers and short, cool winters. Summer is peak season around Wright Patman Lake, with warm water for swimming and the strongest demand for lakeside sites at Atlanta State Park. Spring brings dogwoods and wildflowers along with the wettest stretch of the year, when May typically records the highest monthly rainfall and thunderstorms are frequent. Fall cools through October and November and is one of the more comfortable windows for RV travel, with lower humidity and hardwood color in the Piney Woods. Winter is short and cool rather than harsh, and Atlanta State Park stays open year-round. Two scheduling notes matter for trip planning. Atlanta State Park hosts scheduled public hunts in December and January, during which the entire park closes from noon the day before the first day of each hunt through 8 a.m. the day after it ends. Burn bans are also common in dry stretches, restricting wood and charcoal fires and limiting cooking to containerized fuel stoves.

Atlanta State Park has no entrance gate, and no gate code is needed. Visitors arriving after hours use the Iron Ranger at Park Headquarters, and a posted list shows any available first-come, first-served sites. Walk-in sites are only guaranteed for the night of arrival, and credit-card payers must register at headquarters by 9 a.m. the next morning. A per-person daily entrance fee applies in addition to camping fees. Bowie and Cass counties are under an emerald ash borer quarantine, so firewood movement is restricted. Buy firewood where it will be burned. Cell coverage around the lake is generally usable but can be patchy in wooded loops. Private RV parks near Redwater and Texarkana are geared to longer stays and bigger rigs, with pull-throughs, laundry, and easy interstate access.
