Campgrounds near Reno, Texas
Reno sits in Parker County, roughly twenty minutes northwest of Fort Worth, which puts RV travelers within easy reach of both the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and the lakes country west of the city. The area is flat to gently rolling, with mesquite and post-oak cross timbers giving way to reservoir shoreline at Eagle Mountain Lake and, further west, Lake Mineral Wells.
Most overnight options near Reno are privately owned RV parks with full hookups rather than public campgrounds. Shady Lane RV Park and Clean Living RV Park sit close to town and cater to travelers and longer-term guests, while The Pines RV Community offers a quieter residential-style setting. Eagle Creek Park and West Bay Marina and RV Park pull RVers who want water access on Eagle Mountain Lake, an 8,694-acre reservoir on the West Fork of the Trinity River northwest of Fort Worth.
For a state park experience, Lake Mineral Wells State Park and Trailway is a 3,282.5-acre park in Palo Pinto County that protects part of the Western Cross Timbers and the Mineral Wells Trailway, roughly forty minutes west of Reno.
Things to do near Reno
Water recreation is the main draw. Eagle Mountain Lake is popular for fishing, skiing, wakeboarding, and recreational boating, with public boat ramps and commercial marinas providing access to the reservoir. Guests at West Bay Marina and RV Park and Eagle Creek Park are within a short drive of these launches.
On land, Lake Mineral Wells State Park adds hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, with more than 31 miles of hiking trails, 25 miles of which are open to bicycles and horses. Penitentiary Hollow, a small canyon feature, is a popular site for top-rope rock climbing.
Fort Worth itself is close enough for day trips to the Stockyards, the Fort Worth Zoo, and the museum district, making Reno a workable base for families splitting time between outdoor and city activities.

North Texas has a long RV season. Weekends at Lake Mineral Wells State Park can be busy from mid-spring through mid-fall, and demand at private parks near Reno follows a similar pattern. Spring is the most comfortable stretch for hiking and sightseeing, with wildflowers along trails and moderate daytime temperatures before summer heat sets in.
Summer brings the heaviest lake use and the hottest weather. Daytime highs regularly climb into the mid-nineties, and shaded sites, 50-amp hookups for air conditioning, and early-morning outdoor activities become priorities. Thunderstorms are possible, particularly in May and early June.
Fall cools through October and November and is a strong shoulder season for RVers who want mild days and lower demand. Winter is the quietest period; the state park is open year-round, but the climbing area and some trails may close temporarily during wet weather, and occasional freezes can affect water hookups at exposed sites.

This was our first time renting a RV. It drove like a truck or van, super easy! They were flexible on picking up as they stated. Our family really enjoyed being able to relax as we drove. We will definitely be renting from them again.

How to book
Private parks around Reno, including Shady Lane RV Park, Clean Living RV Park, The Pines RV Community, Eagle Creek Park, and West Bay Marina and RV Park, are booked directly through each park by phone or website. Lakefront and marina sites fill first for summer weekends, so booking several weeks out is recommended.
For state park sites at Lake Mineral Wells, reservations go through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Campsites and screened shelters can be reserved via the Texas State Parks reservation system, with a rolling booking window that opens five months in advance at 8 a.m. Central Time. Sites can book up fast for summer and holiday weekends, especially for large RVs, so plan to reserve the moment the window opens.
What to expect
Expect a mix of open-sky Texas prairie and reservoir shoreline rather than dense forest. Sites at private parks near Reno typically offer full hookups with 30- and 50-amp service, gravel or concrete pads, and interior roads suitable for larger rigs. Amenities vary by park, so confirm laundry, Wi-Fi, and pet policies at booking.
At Lake Mineral Wells State Park, a daily entrance fee applies per person 13 and older, and the park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Zebra mussels are present in Eagle Mountain Lake, so boaters must clean, drain, and dry their boat, trailer, and gear before moving to another water body; draining water from vessels is required by Texas law.
Summer sun is intense; bring shade, extra water, and a plan for pets in the heat.
