Campgrounds and RV parks near Sansom Park, TX

Lake Worth anchors most outdoor activity in the area, with boating, fishing, and shoreline access from marinas and city parks around the lake. West Bay Marina and RV Park is a common launching point for anglers and boaters, and several city parks along the shoreline offer picnic areas and swimming spots. Marion Sansom Park is the go-to for trails, with hiking and mountain-biking routes across a limestone bluff and scenic overlooks above Lake Worth. Rocky, rolling singletrack suits intermediate mountain bikers, and shorter loops work for families. Downtown Fort Worth, the Stockyards National Historic District, the Fort Worth Zoo, and the Cultural District museums are all a short drive south and east, making rainy-day and evening plans easy from any of the nearby RV parks.

North-central Texas gives RV travelers a long shoulder season on both sides of a hot summer. Spring and fall are generally the best stretches for hiking, biking, and touring the city, while summer is best suited to boating and early-morning fishing, and winter is quieter with mild days that still support trail use. Spring brings the region's wettest stretch, with strong thunderstorms and occasional severe weather from April into May. Wildflowers peak in April, and lake levels are usually full. Summer is reliably hot, with most summer days reaching at least 90 degrees and about 17 days heating into the 100s, so shaded or full-hookup sites with strong 50-amp service are worth prioritizing for air conditioning. Fall is the sweet spot for touring, with lower humidity, mild nights, and generally stable weather through October and November. Winters are short and mild with occasional freezes and rare ice events. Most private RV parks in the Fort Worth area stay open year-round, but hookups can be affected during hard freezes, so travelers should confirm winter operating status with the park before arrival.

Expect a suburban, metro-adjacent RV experience rather than a wilderness one. Most sites are level gravel or concrete pads with full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50-amp electric), and Wi-Fi and laundry are common at the larger parks. Cell coverage on all major U.S. carriers is strong across the Lake Worth area. Lakefront options like Hideaway 23 Lakefront RV & Cabins and West Bay Marina and RV Park put boat access and fishing steps from the site. Avondale RV Park and Lakeview RV Park lean toward quieter, longer-stay layouts suitable for families using Fort Worth as a base. Traffic on Loop 820 and I-35W can be heavy at rush hour, so arriving mid-morning or early afternoon makes backing into a site easier. Summer thunderstorms can arrive quickly, and retracting awnings before leaving the site is a good habit.
