Campgrounds and RV parks near North Troy, VT

Jay Peak Resort is the main regional draw, with summer lift rides, an aerial tram to the summit, an indoor waterpark, and a golf course. Big Falls State Park on the Missisquoi River offers one of Vermont's largest undammed waterfalls and is an easy day trip from any nearby campground. Hikers can pick up the Long Trail where it crosses Hazen's Notch, or use the Hazen's Notch Association trail network at High Ponds Farm for family-friendly loops. Anglers fish the Missisquoi River and the stocked pond at Hazens Notch Campground with a Vermont license. Lake Memphremagog in Newport supports paddling, swimming, and access to the Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail for cyclists. Foliage drives along Route 58 through Hazen's Notch peak in early October.

The practical camping season around North Troy runs from mid-May through mid-October. Most private campgrounds in the area open around Memorial Day weekend and close by Columbus Day, though a few take reservations into late October if weather cooperates. July and August bring the warmest, most reliable weather and the highest demand. Weekends at Tree Corners Family Campground, Barrewood Campground, and the Quebec-side parks fill well in advance, and Jay Peak lodging pressure spills into surrounding campgrounds during summer festivals and wedding weekends. Spring is short and often muddy, with black flies peaking in late May and early June. Access is rural. Approaches to Hazens Notch Campground and Barrewood Campground include dirt sections, and Route 58 through Hazen's Notch itself is a seasonal dirt road that closes in winter. Larger Class A and fifth-wheel rigs should stick to Routes 100, 101, and 105. Hookup levels vary. Hazens Notch Campground offers water and electric hookups, a dump station, and hot showers, with a mix of RV and tent sites. Tree Corners Family Campground is big-rig friendly with drive-in sites, water, and toilets. Smaller parks may only offer partial hookups or dry sites, so confirm amps and sewer availability at booking. Cell service is patchy in the valleys. Black bears are active; food storage rules apply. Firewood must be sourced locally or exchanged on arrival to prevent pest spread.
