Campgrounds and RV parks near Benns Church, VA

Benns Church is a small community in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, at the junction of U.S. Route 258 and State Routes 10 and 32, just southeast of Smithfield. Its position on the south side of the James River puts RV travellers within an easy drive of Hampton Roads, Williamsburg, and the Surry County shoreline, which makes it a practical base for Tidewater trips. Camping options range from full-hookup family parks to a state park campground with waterfront access. The Chippokes campground consists of two loops totaling 51 sites, all equipped with water and electric hookups. Isle of Wight Campground sits on rural acreage near Windsor with a stocked lake and pull-through RV sites, while Davis Lakes and Campgrounds offers a lake-focused setting closer to Suffolk. Chippokes Plantation State Park adds a public option across the county line in Surry. Farther afield, Chesapeake Campground provides a larger commercial park south of the Elizabeth River, and Camp Cardinal RV Resort rounds out the choices for RVers wanting resort-style amenities within roughly an hour of Benns Church.

Chippokes Plantation State Park uses the Virginia State Parks system. Reservations can be made online through ReserveVAParks or by calling 800-933-PARK, and sites can be booked up to 11 months in advance, which matters for summer and holiday weekends when the two campground loops fill early. Private parks handle bookings directly. Isle of Wight Campground, Davis Lakes and Campgrounds, Chesapeake Campground, and Camp Cardinal RV Resort each take reservations by phone or through their own websites, so RV renters should confirm rig-length limits, hookup type (20/30/50-amp, water, sewer), and any minimum-stay rules on holiday weekends before finalizing a booking.
