Brandermill sits in Chesterfield County southwest of Richmond, Virginia, putting RV travelers within a short drive of Pocahontas State Park and a spread of private campgrounds across the central Piedmont. Pocahontas is the largest state park in Virginia at roughly 7,900 acres, laid out along Swift Creek by the Civilian Conservation Corps, and it anchors most trip plans in the area. Private options nearby cover a range of styles. Amelia Family Campground, west of Brandermill in Amelia Court House, is a family-run park with roughly 80 sites, pull-throughs up to 65 feet, and both full-hookup and electric-only availability. Picture Lake Campground, Camptown Campground, and Kosmo Village Campground round out the closer-in private choices, while Americamps RV Resort provides a more RV-focused stopover along the I-95 corridor. Richmond, Petersburg, and their Civil War sites are all within an easy day trip, and the James River corridor adds paddling, fishing, and riverside parks to the mix.

Virginia State Parks, including Pocahontas, use a single reservation system managed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation through reservevaparks.com. Cancellations must be made by 11:59 p.m. the day before arrival to avoid forfeiting fees, and Virginia allows free transfers of camping reservations to different dates or parks up to four days before arrival.
