Campgrounds and RV parks near Glade Spring, VA

Glade Spring sits in Washington County in southwest Virginia, minutes off Interstate 81 and within short driving distance of the Virginia Creeper Trail, Hungry Mother State Park, and the higher terrain of the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. RV travelers use the town as a base for exploring the Blue Ridge and Iron Mountains, with the trail towns of Abingdon and Damascus a short drive west. Campground options in the area range from small private RV parks such as Creek Side RV Park, Laurel Creek RV Park, and Old Mill Music & RV Park to trail-focused sites like Creeper Trail Campground Inc near the Whitetop end of the corridor, and the state-run Creekside campground at Hungry Mother State Park in nearby Marion. Elevations run from roughly 2,000 feet in the valley to above 5,700 feet on Mount Rogers, so temperatures at higher-elevation campgrounds run noticeably cooler than in town. RV travelers should check length limits carefully, since Creekside at Hungry Mother caps rigs at 30 feet due to a sharp turn in the access road.

Hungry Mother State Park campgrounds, including Creekside, are reserved through the Virginia State Parks system at reservevaparks.com or by calling 1-800-933-PARK. Bookings open up to 11 months in advance, and popular summer weekends and holiday periods fill early. Creekside caps RVs at 30 feet due to a sharp turn in the access road; larger rigs should look at other loops within the park that offer 50-amp service. Private parks such as Creek Side RV Park, Laurel Creek RV Park, Old Mill Music & RV Park, and Creeper Trail Campground Inc are booked directly with the operator, often through their websites. Confirm rig dimensions, hookup type, and cancellation terms before reserving, and check current access conditions if you plan to ride the upper Creeper Trail.
